shiey is like the dad and matt's the kid that wants to touch everything
🤣🤣
I feel like Shiey is usually the one pushing boundaries and stressing out his homies
I’m laughing so hard at the “you don’t have to do that… it’s ok you don’t have to do that…. Don’t do that” part 🤣
Even funnier to me: In poison’s most recent upload, they got off the passenger train they were on because Shiey got caught by the conductor because he climbed off and was surfing the passenger they were riding.
And he’s the reason they got caught at the border in journey across Europe.
He needed a dad figure for himself for those! 🤣
I was gonna say he's more like the little brother but I guess that works too (I have no clue who's older LOL), when me and my older brother played Coop Horror games I always had a bad habit (Or luck) of opening something in game that would either get us killed, swarmed or both LOL
All you need to know is if this was a movie like The Thing, Day Of The Dead or Alien and just horror scenarios in general I am always the one guy who either: panicked immediately, sprays bullets everywhere, accidently kills his own teammates, is either getting dragged to their doom or getting ripped apart by the monsters while screaming hysterically.
Apparently abandoned German power plants are tidier than active factories elsewhere :)
true haha
In America it would be filled with hookers, drug addicts, dealers and rats & sewage.
was this in germany??? war das in deutschland???
@@AllegroAssai the writing on the walls is in german

Its just mental how many stories shiey already can tell. I truly admire his skill and ability to create these experiences. Im German and happy to see a place in my counry, but still wondering how he finds all these dope places in europe.
One thing about Shiey that I’m incredibly envious of is that when he has kids they’ll be able to watch countless hours of his adventures

Das Frage ich mich auch andauernd
2:36 schau, das scheint in Deutschland sogar zu sein.
1:22 Thats a electric filter to extract the dust out of the exhaust gases.
2:07 Those are carbon brushes for the excitation of the rotor. with those you conduct current to the rotor windings.
2:13 this material is mostly to reduce noise. The turbines have extra insulation to absorb heat
8:41 Those are not parts of a turbine but are fans of a big blower which are used to either push fresh air to the burners or suck the exhaust gases out of the boiler
Thanks
Thank you

I'm an adventurer myself, spent my youth riding box cars across the Rockies now I'm old, retired in the mountains.
don't get around or go anywhere much that's okay living vicariously through you. take care brother glad you don't run into any trouble and your videos are mellow without too much drama. people chasing you down hallways happens but as long as you escape safely it's all fun and easy to watch.
take care thanks for keeping it cut dry and simple without a lot of micromanagement detail of the history, probably depressing just like you said.
My grandfather of 82 plays soccer. And you are done??? How old are you??? Don't be a wimp.
I also are interested in those who avoided the Bull.
As seen in CZcams by HoboShoestring, RunOutOnARail,
VagaBond, and others that school me.
Arrow to the knee?
By the way, those units you see around 6:50 are Avocent AMX5121 KVM User Stations. They connect to computers but aren't the actual computers themselves- just a remote display and keyboard for them. It's possible the computers they found would have been the actual computers they were controlling. They also could have been servers that monitored or interfaced with the SCADA control systems you see just before them
Either way, a lot of that equipment is fairly new. Was definitely decomm'd recently and not many years ago
Edit: I played the video a little bit further and saw the other end of the KVM system in the rack with the Fujitsu systems. Can see it clearly at 7:30. The system however is a matrix system (any computer monitor to any computer tower) so it's possible those weren't the actual user stations. Also interesting you can see 2 different models of AMX KVM systems- they probably have some more modern ones elsewhere in the plant
Edit 2: And there's newer KVM user terminals at 10:05
Well Done!
Could you repeat that again please.?😁
They are called Thin Clients
what is the only thing that will make you break your no theft policy? i think if i saw gold or rare equipment that is worth a lot of money like night vision goggles i would have to make an exception.
@@chellisdodge nuh, a Thinclient is an underpowered PC that remotes into a Server (has its own CPU and cut down OS), these things are just a KVM console that let's you control the computers in that server room
"Don't touch that touching stuff always gets us into trouble"- classic shiey.
More like classic Matt to be touching things lol
'Can we just have a moment 0f silence, please.. ".. matt: "That's a moment!" 😂😂
And then again he touches the big ass fan later in the video 🤣

Christmas comes early when there are 2 Shiey uploads on one day.
Cool to see that you're discovering germany.
"This is where they grow new workers" 😂 One of the many reasons I watch every single video, love your content man
Shiey's on fire in this video with the comedy. Nice job. And I'll bet those old tower computers boot up just fine.
Loved the upload. I like how your like the big brother keeping Matt in place. Just the vibes off watching the content makes me happy. Thanks guys for sharing.
Shiey is one hell of a deal you come across in the internet who enjoys what he does while not chasing after mere revenue out of it. I never skip a moment watching every single one of his videos.
If I did all this illegal stuff and posted it on CZcams I would love my life too lol
Watching this guy go through abandoned places and hearing his reactions to it just feels like an uncharted level lol
Bro, the first thing you see in every video is him begging for money. 😂
@@DiazDryx Yeah, fair fair.
@@zerokenshi It's more like a "humble" version of begging for money. The caption implies that he appreciates any monetary help, even if he doesn't force anyone to contribute. Also, it's literally 3 seconds long without any bullshit talking or anything that would distract the viewer from the main content of the video. So this way of saying "if you want to, please support me" is acceptable to me and I encourage it.
My dad told me stories of server rooms at an air force base from the late 60s and early 70s that were the size of most standard houses today(a few thousand square feet). I bet the cell\smart phone you carry has as much capability as those server rooms did. I’m 55 now and dad is gone; so I can’t talk to him about it anymore. Seeing these older control rooms in these places is really cool.
a cellphone probably has at-least 100 times more computing power
God bless you and your dad in heaven!
Aye, we have a big telephone exchange building built in the 70's where I live. Today all its equipment fits into a corner of one room, the rest of the place is empty.

I did my talk after Last Call and parked looking
out over a dark windy sea,
I'm an apprentice electrician and it's crazy how some stuff like valves, motors, pumps, etc are pretty universal and recognizable but big industrial facilities can become so baffling with just the sheer volume of stuff all connected together. Obviously a lot of different facilities have specific and/or proprietary equipment that you'd really have to look over to figure out, and a lot of basic stuff like phones, alarms, and switches can start to look funky when explosion-proof equipment is used. Everything is so expensive (before you even get into the labor to install and maintenance) it's kind of profound to see it all just sitting around doing nothing.
I can picture that, nice post!
That place is so cool! Shiey's channel is still yet the best explorations content I've seen!
That nerding moment everytime he explains those slightly modern computer tech. You never fail us men 🤘
I didn't expect him to be so knowledgeable about this stuff
I thought myself, maybe now I know what is Shieys day job. Or was ten years ago. At least :D He is a nerd or serious gamer who builds his own computers.
Your channel is the only one that makes me have the most craziest dreams. Like post apocalyptic kids trying to survive type dreams and I love that shit

I think I actually know that power plant; planned to go there once too but never got to do that.
If it’s the one I’m assuming, it was built in the early 70s (generator 1 & 2) and early to mid 80s (generator 3 & 4). The four generators had a combined power output of 2,23 GWh and it was one of the largest of its operating company.
It was closed in 2017.
where exactly is it?
My man went from a bunker to working in a power plant.
Big changes so proud your moving up
would be funnier if he started in a power plant and ended up in a bunker
You're one of my favorite channels and I hope making these videos makes you as happy as I am watching them, keep up the good work
I love those admin/computer ops rooms and the server rooms, gold mine for you! You can just sit and imagine how many people were clicking away on all those workstations with quad screens all along those desks! Thank you for sharing, brought me back to the mid 2010's!
thats pretty funny finding stuff you remember - i had similar experience - went to a museum and found the old Mac Lisa and plus's, i was one of the first people in the UK to use one, and now confined to a museum, does anyone remember disc swapping until your arms dropped off, just to run a program or save a small file, bonkers how tech has changed
love your videos Shiey
I've also used on old LGA 1366 Workstation with Xeon CPUs for a gaming rig back in the day. Old Workstations/Servers are a great base for a gaming rig, because they tend to feature beefy PSUs and high quality casings. Heck, if the ones shown in this video have got multiple processor sockets, they probably could still handle todays games well.
@@provisionalhypothesis yeah, that'd almost certainly be the bottle-neck for those systems. Odds are you simply install a decent GPU and you're good to go.
For the workstations/servers featured there, you'd have to pick one with at least 2 CPU-sockets to enjoy modern games. They're older than a decade after all. A single quadcore at 3.2-3.7 GHz won't make the cut anymore. Two of them may perform on par with a good LGA1151-V2 CPU which is still enough for modern games.
I wonder whether this is one of those German coal power plants which may be reactivated in case the energy crisis gets more intense.
Carefull with those generator rooms(around 1.50 mark). Some use hydrogen for insulation. If the inner door shows explosive danger icons, it may be due to risk of hydrogen buildup
The power plant has been shut down for 6 years. No matter how much hydrogen it once had, it has completely evaporated. Maximum closed pressure vessels could hold it.
"Don't spin the blade." "Don't push those buttons." Every adventure has to have a Pippin.
"this is where they keep all the spare asbestos" lmaoo
Excellent audio & video as always, I felt truly immersed in this.
It's fascinsting to watch you two navigate the plant. I work in a power plant as well, not a coal fired one like this is but it's amazing how similar it is to the one I'm employed at. Seems no matter which country you're in there is a pretty standard construction template for these plants.
Quality content...love what you guys do...keep it up...much love x
One days two vids, bro i feel blessed with these abandoned place content
I always appreciate your videos especially those, where you explore Power Plants. Thank you ❤
It's hilarious how much like my dad Shiey sounds when talking about those computers x) Love both journeys!
Damn that's one of the best preserved facilities you've managed to find. Keep 'em coming!
ur videos are like a holiday every time. Wish we could live in a world where we could watch a new video every day :D
Thanks for everything you do man. Stay safe.
My dad works as an IT manager and that pretty much is what an IT room would look like. Tons of pc's stored in case there is a new hire or if one breaks and someone needs a temporary one, they have the extras in storage. As a kid it's insane seeing all that I remember before he had like five monitors in this one small room with tons of pc's. Not sure if it was just to set them up or if he was using them to do stuff but was kind of cool.
Man, as a IT guy, its hard to just watch. Thanks for the content

Man I've loved finding your account. This type of travelling is wild! It reminds me of when I was solo backpacking in Albania in 2015, I hitchiked to this abandoned military outpost and found all these warehouses full of bullet shells & empty landmine canisters that they used during the war's in the 90's. Shiey is so respectful of things always closes doors and puts things back. This other guy touchy touchy touchy ohhh is that a switch lets press it!

Brown, Boveri & Cie. (Brown, Boveri & Company; BBC) was a Swiss group of electrical engineering companies. It was founded in Zürich, in 1891 by Charles Eugene Lancelot Brown and Walter Boveri who worked at the Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon. In 1970 BBC took over the Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon. In 1988 it merged with ASEA to form ABB. These generators predate 1988, how incredible.
