For the love of God Mexican isn't a race
Tru
He never said nor implied that it was. That's the nationality of one of his parents, who happens to also be of a non-white race. You can be half German, half Chinese, half American, half whatever nationality YOURE half of. Simply stating this doesn't mean to equate this nationality to a race of its own by the same name.
+RevucumberTechUSA One thing is he if he says "Half American Half Mexican", when, by deduction, because most of the American population is white and most of Mexican population is mestizo (mix of Indigenous and White), that this his mix. But he didn't. He said "half White half Mexican". And what about the white Latinos (and it's not a small number)? And if it's a video about "Biracial" people, considering this, in this crazy "race" logic of this world, why he is on it, being 1/4 or maybe less, Indigenous, which is the other thing but white about him? This video it was just bad planned. Buzz Feed have to be serious about things if they want to talk about it.
Mexican isn't a *language* but all of my Mexican friends claim themselves as exactly that. If you have family decent from Mexico then you are Mexican, what am I missing
More over, 'white' is antiqued and ambiguous. Stop using it people.
I don't think they know the difference between race, ethnicity, or nationality.
+Luis R. Sadly most people don't.
what's the difference? Not trying to be rude just want to be reassured
+Rainy Lampone race is white, black, Hispanic,Asian all that. ethnicity is what your parents are. are your background. and nationality is where you were born. If I'm not mistaken
*****
You are a little mistaken.
+shinmusashi44 can you clarify please
Dude I’m biracial. They’re acting as if it’s some horrible disease. It’s barely an inconvenience.
Seriously tho.

Pretty much

me too but i struggle with my identity. it feels like i dont belong and that makes me feel kinda worthless
As a mixed race person myself I find this video entirely stupid. It's not the end of the world just because someone doesn't know what you're mixed with.
Exactly
I’m black and white and like I do get called white bc of my hair but I am mixed u know
I am mixed race and I couldn’t care less whether or not people say that I am black or white.
I agree. I couldn't really care less if people can't guess my race right off the bat, since it's understandable. If there's any struggle with being mixed, I'd say just trying to find where you truly belong. I feel that finding who I am has been quite a struggle for me through the years.

+MrDucky Me too, I appreciate their gesture, but they don't need to get upset when people mistake them for a different race.
I understand why one might get annoyed at people never knowing what race they are, but what should be most important is for other people to not stereotype them into a certain race. The thing is, it shouldn't matter what race you are as long as you are true to yourself who cares what other people think.
Same here. They are being over dramatic about all this

I'm biracial and find this so dramatic..... It's really not a big deal.
+Tasha V. I agree completely, as someone who's a melting pot of races (being russian, hispanic, and native american), I think that they make it seem like this is a massive issue but it really isn't.
Me too
+Tasha V. , I totally agree with you. In Hawai'i its a total norm to have friends and family who are at least more than two races. From what I notice its a question we ask each other in Hawai'i just out of curiosity to feel more connected :) I'm fully Chinese and if I know someone who is half or one third, I'm thrilled.
Since when is Mexican a race. Nationality
👍
Are you mad???
Enrique Chavez no
👌 ok
Exactly what I was thinking! Hes white mixed with white=WHITE!🤯🙄🤭
The rejection on both sides is a big one I feel pretty much daily. I'm too dark to be accepted as white and I'm too light to be accepted as Native American.
Omg this it’s like a weird limbo not being part of either
feel it too. it feels like you're just a product sometimes ..
I wish people would understand this. :(
Mexican is more of a nationality.
Chubby Huang Many Mexicans (along with most Latinos) are mixed with White and Native anyways.
Ugh, I know!! I absolutely hate it when people can't tell that I'm 50% German, 30% Polish, 10% Russian, %5 English 3% Asian, and 2% Pict ! It just really annoys me that people can't just tell by looking at me >:( .
I have fewer ethnicities than you but I still have the same problem 😭
You pretty much only have one race. You do realize that right?
Nyssa Ching I'm being sarcastic because in the video someone was like, "I'm half Danish!" and Danish isn't a race.
+Zullala You're an idiot. She's Dutch and Indian. Dutch is a European race and Indian is an Asian race. Which means that she's mixed race. They assumed you would know that, which you honestly should, and felt that they didn't need to clarify.
Nyssa Ching European is not a race either. If you say you are European it means that you are a native of Europe (People consisting of different races can be European). Dutch is a nationality. Caucasian is a race. She could say she is half Caucasian and half Asian.
All I said was Dutch isn't a race, which it isn't. Calm down.
My mixed race Asian/White son did not have a problem until HS. It was from the Black students. It was the White half they hated. Before HS, he had Black friends. At HS, it stopped.
Literally anybody can be racist, not just white people. That is a sad truth.
I am also Asian/white mixed and most of the kids who were being racist to me in elementary school and middle school were black.
@@bunnybird9342some races are more aggressive than others.
German Shepherd / Pit Bull mix here. It’s really hard sometimes, when other dogs look at me and assume I can fight. The truth is, I can really fight. So to prove my point, I always run up to them and bite into their neck, no hesitation, so they can go “a-ha! He’s a German Shepherd / Pit Bull mix after all!” as they pass away. And it gives me so much satisfaction. Better than simply identifying myself, or doing an interview with those weird Buzzfeed dogs.
I don't think that people not being able to guess your race is a problem... Let's leave all this sensitivity in 2015 and make videos about actual problems. I'm biracial and I don't care if someone guesses me as Hispanic or Chinese. I may be biracial, but someone not being able to tell isn't a world problem, nor is it racist. Just sayin'.
+DizzyGEICO You missed the point of the video. It's not about people mistaking you for another race(that to me is the fun part) it's about people assuming you should be a certain way because of how you look. Sure it's not a huge issue, but it is something people have to go through for their whole lives, especially in America
+Joshua but whats wrong? it's not their fault you look like a different race.
yaz
Everything has the possibility of it being a problem or not. For a example, a chair is a problem. Most people think its not but a few may be scared of it or injured multiple times from it.
Krystelle Anne Ternura true, but does that mean there should be a video made about people with a fear of chairs?
They need to learn the difference between ethnicity, nationality, and race
@si Markeyan no, the city where I'm from there is a huge and growing asian community. Most of them identify as Mexican too.
Your right ....nationality and race are two different things: Mexico is a nationality and Black is a race, hence I would be Afro-Mexican
@@diegoperalta4104 Both north and south america have no race or ethnicity
When they says "mexican" they mean native. Its not hard to understand. Even white people can be mexican, but just by country.
The lady who said half Danish and Half Indian, I guessed her correct as Half Indian. Kudos to me
Me too she looked like a beautiful mix of Indian and Caucasian though she ended up looking like Palestinian or Lebanese
I know this video is +4 years old but the way they put dramatic sounding music over it makes everyone sound like they’re whinny children.

Who is complaining? They're just stating facts. Those who are not biracial don't understand how tired we are of people asking us "what are you?" I tell them I'm an American. When they ask "yeah, but are you White, Black, Asian, Hispanic?" I have to explain that my grandmother on father's side is English (White), her husband is mix of African American and Native American. My mother's mother is French Canadian (White), and Native American. Personally, I don't care what a person's ethnicity is, just that they are cool and genuine and intelligent and not racist. There are good and bad people of every race/ethnicity. Most Mexicans are mixed with Spaniards and Native American, but since they speak Spanish and from Mexico (or parents from Mexico) nobody asks them "what are you?", ..they just address them as "Mexican". Bottom line is it doesn't matter what race one is, but what are ones morals and respect for humanity.
Being mixed race isn’t that deep
I mean, you can't understand how they feel if you haven't lived their lives.
It's evil
@@emotivelyy_ tf do you mean by that
As a biracial person, I totally get how it feels to be rejected on both sides (not black enough, not "Spanish" enough is what they say). It never really bothered me. Whoever likes me, likes me and that's about it.
My thing is, why couldn't buzzfeed make a video about how awesome it is to be biracial? How culturals blend, hair textures develop and our outside is a mystery? Why must everything be "Woe is me?"
+Roxanne Mapache believe me, you're black enough sweety. and spain's a multiracial country so if you say you're spanish, then I totally believe you. being multiracial is neither good nor bad, it just is.
+Roxanne Mapache I'm mixed and feel the same way.
Thats literally my life story but my dad left so I ended up being way more Hispanic but nobody's ever able to guess my race until they hear my Spanish accent
+footy facts Just because you don't face issues with being biracial doesn't mean we all don't. I've had a really tough time growing up half white and half black especially living in such a racist prejudice community. I'm glad you had it easy but for a lot of us biracial people life is a struggle. Im rejected by my white peers for trying to be "too black" and I'm rejected by my black peers for white passing. Although I admit this video should have been more about the feeling of not belonging to a certain community and not just people not recognizing their races.
+Roxanna Krause Thanks! You're stunning btw!
I don't understand why anybody feels the need to belong to a certain race, or to be identified as a race or mixed race. What's the point?
Am I the only one that thnks this only encourages racism? We are all people, who cares what race your parents or grandparents are? You are you.
+lptrevijano Some people like to feel connected to their culture and basically be able to say "I'm x and y" and not getting comments like: "Oh but you don't look like!" or "I thought this certain race looks like...".
This video doesn't encourage racism but your comment might be interpreted in another way...
Linkexx That's exactly what I mean, why bother about what other people think?
I feel this video just emphasises the importance of the way you look and how that is supposed to tell you who you are. I have no doubt that is not at all what Buzzfeed meant with the idea, I just think it turned out all wrong.
You don't need to look certain way to connect with your culture. That's what this video should be about.
Linkexx I get what you mean, however I believe that holding on to those cultural prejudices is not good.
I insist, we are who we are and no one should tell us otherwise, specially if it is based on the way we look.
I get your ideology but frankly that's an ideal. So many people are suffering because of people who don't think like you (us), and it's not up to every victim to say "well screw everybody I'll be who I am" because reality is that social constraints make it very hard for them. It would be nice if more people realized what you think, but reality is that a lot of people are perpetrators of these prejudices and people who have racial privileges are not in the position to accuse the victims.
+lptrevijano I agree ::=)
The sad background music is pathetic
For real I think it’s B.S
I am Korean and white. I don’t victimize myself. The truth is it doesn’t matter. If you live in America, you’re American, no matter what ethnicity you are.
Race is different than ethnicity
Same. Half Russian half Japanese. I love myself and I’m American. I speak many languages and have diverse family and friends. I’m dating a white guy as there’s 80% white guys in my college as it’s America. If I was in Japan I’d be dating a Japanese guy I guess based on population.
It’s not just that. It’s people thinking that they can be racist around you. It’s having an identity crisis. Hating being one race and wanted to just be one. Not understand at a young age that I can be more than one race.
these people really need to stop being so offended
+Boosh Bear These people are offended because all their lives they have been identifying themselves as both of their origins and the fact that people don't understand who they are and their point of view hurts their self-image
+Cherry Goyangi people get my race wrong all the time i dont get butthurt and cry over it cause my "identity" is ruined
I don't get butthurt about it either but my identity is important to me and I hate when people simply judge you without understanding

Should I get mad when people come up to me on the street and ask me for directions and I don't know the directions?... Do I look like someone with amazing spacial skills or something. How dare they make that snap judgement about me!
And don't base your sense of self and worth on your race: You are so much more of a person than that.
+Artbug Thank you ! Finally someone gets it !
I don't think it's offensive. Its more annoying than anything. Why bring up someone's background in the first place? If you can't readily identify someone's heritage then shut up and keep moving. It's not life or death.
+LRK - if someone looks white, but has black in him, then you can't tell on first glance that this person is mixed. Asking where he's from or assuming he's white isn't rude or anything. If i see someone, who looks white i don't think "oh no, what if i assume wrongly and he/she is actually mixed :((("
+Zelda Pika it's not wrong to assume, but it maybe annoying to ask. I'd rather have interactions that don't circle around heritage. When people first meet me that's usually the first thing they ask. It gets tiresome. When I first meet someone I ask them about their work, school, kids, etc.
Are you kidding? Being biracial is awesome. I get to make black people jokes and white people jokes w/o anyone calling me racist.

Yes girl!!
im half nigerian and half finnish and being mixed is kinda hard ain't gon lie. The finnish society calls me black not finnish. And nigerian society calls me finnish not nigerian. So sometimes i don't know what am i.
Your mixed. No confusion there.
Bruh just dont care
You’re you! Be proud of who you are and your uniqueness!! You don’t need a label unless you want one. I am 1/2 Ethiopian, 1/4 Italian and Norwegian, 1/8 Native American, 1/8 Arab with my Norwegian family being born in Brasil. I’m proud of my grandparents, parents, and I being mixed race. I look more Ethiopian and Italian than anything so I can relate to your struggle, Ethiopians saying I look more Italian/Italians saying I look more Ethiopian. But I remember that’s because I’m unique, in my looks, culture, personality, and genes.
This is why race mixing is bad.
@@thomasjohnston8970 You've got some confusion if you think there's such thing as a "pure" race.
I find it really strange how people in the USA make such a BIG deal about race. I'm Mexican and since everybody here is mixed race nobody gives a flying truck about what your race is, nor people get anxious if their race is not adressed correctly by others.
Such a strange concept.
+Rodrosv Loll thats sooooo not true. Mexicans are sooooo biased for light skinned people. Have you even seen a novella? XD
I mean sure, the Mexican media is racist (and sexist) as much as the next country, but that's not what I was talking about. I was talking about people feeling "victimized" when their race is not adressed correctly by others.
Like... Why do they care so much?
Rodrosv Its just annoying to be constantly asked and treated as some sort of "guess what!" commodity.
+Penny Lane Oh I see, that actually seems annoying.
1960s....barely 50 years ago there were race wars and government sanctioned crackdowns on blacks. Thats pretty recent and scars dont heal well. Plus blacks still live in poverty.
Why are they acting like its a sad thing and a struggle like who cares
+nasma falah Mainly racists.
Maybe it's not such a big deal nowadays, but in my father's generation race was pretty important, i.e segregation was still a thing that happened. My father is Hispanic and in the south about 40-45 years ago there were black restrooms and white restrooms, both told him he wasn't supposed to be there. Luckily that doesn't happen today. Growing up as half Hispanic and half "white" I never realized that I was concidered biracial. Think of it like in Harry Potter, some full blooded people look at biracial people a mud bloods. Some prejudices will never disappear :(
cause it sucks going every day being told your nor black enough or asian enough. when you feel like you dont belong to a culture , and feel rejected. you may not be able to relate, but others can bro
And there are people who do care, unlike you.
it is sad in a way because your heritage and culture is constantly glossed over or disregarded. i dont expect everyone to know my background heritage but i also dont expect people to disregard my blood and call me full white.

I know, I was born in the states but everyone asks me where my family is from 🙃
Yup. People in U.S. seem to need to slap a label on others so they know how they can treat them. For example, you look Latin so you can pick up my yard or take care of my kids. Or you look African-descent, so you'll be dishonest/combative. I'm so tired of it.

No hate but buzz feed is always looking for things to complain about like is anyone of them actually upset that "people don't know their nationality " nobody thinks before they go to sleep about how hard it is that people don't know their race. Can buzzfeed stop creating problems
THIS! I agree 100%
+mordam I agree with you and understand :) The point of the video wasn't primarily to say that they're upset whenever someone cant identify their ethnicity correct. It's to show how they felt growing up how they felt like they never fit in wherever they went. How they were told they had to be one thing and they couldn't be that one thing. That wherever they went that was how it was, and people would kind of push you away for not seeming to fit into their standards. I dont think this is just an issue in U.S.A. People who experience this and know how it feels aren't spoiled, ungrateful people who's problems should be counted as "nothing". And it honestly made me angry to see that people are saying that. If you haven't personally walked in their shoes and gone through what they have gone through then don't say anything. You have no right to tell them that their problems are insignificant. Because I'm sure there are people experiencing this also in developing countries whom have also felt that same feeling. Im sorry I jusy felt like ranting that to anybody who is willing to read this comment. I just think you shouldn't tell somebody that their problems are stupid unless you have suffered the same way they have. Only then can you truly see what they've gone through

As a multiracial person I do battle it everyday and sometimes get made fun of.
Small Rant: Everyone's always talking about how race is important and how you should be proud... except for when it comes to mixed raced people... Mixed people are just being overly sensitive and dramatic when quite literally... It is very common for them to be outcaste, bullied and confused about their social identity because they don't immediately fall under a larger category. It's facing an extra prejudice to their person... and somehow that's not as bad as being discriminated against as one race? Sure they might be "passing" as something else visually... but they don't associate with that... These comments are so negative for no reason. People are allowed to be upset over their own struggles... and you don't have to specifically agree because you don't relate! these are entirely other people with different lives. Imagine telling someone about their gender... you wouldn't unless you were completely insensitive.

Don't be proud of your genetic, but on your achievement.

Huh... you just said It's not important while also expressing why it was important... Amish people are not minorities... That is a chosen lifestyle. I'm about 5 different ethnic minority groups and don't live in America. The passport thing also doesn't make sense! but I understand what you we're talking about I guess... Yeah, same here. I don't really care about fitting in and belonging to a group. I just make friends with the people that make me laugh, understand me, etc. But I see what the people in this vid are trying to get at. Kinda.
+Nicole H (Nicole the Goat) agreed. im triracial and i dont care what anyone thinks at all.
Ya but like thats not there point in this there point is they get called different races that they aren't
Frankus Glasses xD "Triracial" I would say something like that with the number of ethnicities that I have, but honestly there's too much. I just call myself mixed. When people ask, I either say "The main ones are pretty much a cow" (the two colors) or launch into a whole backstory about my parents' heritage. My parents both have good stories, but honestly people just can't tell if I'm Egyptian or Dominican. And I'm neither...
Being mixed Indigenous & European settler, and not being able to fit into either culture, I feel this in my teeth.
HOW SO?
Please everyone listen to me! It’s not a struggle I’m Mexican and white and I’m doin just fine.
Mexican is not an ethnicity, it is a nationality. Actually, most of us, Mexican are multiethnic.
latino nor mexican is a race. You would just be a white latino. Biracial ppl usually have alot of self hate and identity problems
This so so ignorant from the first sentences. Mexico is a country, not a race. An as a country, it's filled with a lot of ethnicities. Yes, white people live in Mexico, too.
+Max DaVinci pretty much this. That guy sounds like he wants pity points.

Person-Okayyyyyy??? *walks away*
Biracial person- oh are you walking away cause I'm half Mexican???? I see how it is.
+Truitt Forrester Mmm... This is pretty accurate. Many people are like this. It's not because they're biracial. It's simply because they're just that type of person, but fair enough. Stereotypes don't come from nowhere.
+Panda On Steroids yes I do get that many biracial people do get bullied and I'm not trying to offend anyone but this vid seems a little extreme. Like bob Marley was bullied and made fun of a lot in Jamaica because his dad was British and he didn't care he just didn't listen to them and became famous and a great singer
Truitt Forrester You definitely didn't offend me. I agree with you. I'm biracial and I feel no struggle. Buzzfeed simply portrayed these so called "struggles" horribly. There are struggles, but this video did them no justice.
+Panda On Steroids I would love to be biracial because you get to be part of 2 cultures... What are you?
Truitt Forrester Black and white.. Also, not necessarily. I just live a normal American life. My parents are too lazy for culture.
I am biracial. I am half black, quarter latino and quarter white. People think I am white when they see me. Do I care? NO!
Do you know why? Because race (get this) doesnt matter.
Being assumed as latino, white, asian, or any other race isnt a bad thing.
Because being white, latino, or asian, isnt a bad thing.
👏👏👏👏👏👏 I want my biracial children to think independently like you.

well said. I'm mixed race, people often don't believe me when I say I'm not Caucasian, but it's not as big a deal as these people say it is. sometimes people forget about things like people dying from starvation and BLM movement.
And every part of the world.
And commenting that on a videos totally helps. I notice you care so much. But then again if you did you wouldn't spend your time talking about people starving you'd actually do something.
There are millions around the world without enough food and water, struggling to survive, and you're over here complaining about people not knowing which ethnicity you are? Give me a break!

Bruh why are they so obsessed with their race
This is the most USian thing I’ve ever watched lol
Why is this video so overly dramatic? Im mixed race too and never had a problem about it
Probably because we have grown up in an almost completely different world than them.
Why is race sooo important in America.
Exactly, literally everything is made to be about race for some reason
Hate fuels pride and pride fuels hate. Victims become proud of their hardships. Being proud will make you a victim because people will tear you down when you're happy. It's an endless cycle in the US because "BE PROUD OF YOURSELF" is a major American motto. That applies to physical appearance (race, nationality, size) and achievements. Its pretty complicated and I hope that made sense. Race is an issue because we have loud racist and loud victims. Both are proud of their side of the story and butt heads all the time. Pride also creates closed mindedness so you don't try to find a middle ground nor try to change. You'd think racism would disappear the more advanced we get, but I work in retail and hear teenagers say very racist comments regularly. Racist people are proud of their own race and way of thinking. Then, they hurt someone for being *insert race*. That victim becomes prouder of who they are and will fight back by showing their pride. Thus, the racist will come again with a stronger attack. They go back and forth. Endless, unless one side finally stops existing. Sorry that it's complicated. I honestly hate it. Wished all US people would just be happy with each other and quit being too proud to change.
Glad u are asking that question. Those who make race sooo important should ask themselves that question.
It’s important because this country was violently stolen from people who lived here because they were a different race, then those people who stole it chained up people of a different race, shoved them into ships, and shipped them across the Atlantic. And finally, once here, they wrote laws to enslave said people based of their race so the whole nation would follow suit.

I'm an middle aged orphan. There is no one alive to tell me "what" I am. My mother was mostly european stock. But looking at her parents there are clearly more than western Europe. My fathers side is completely unverified. There were hints he was colombian. At this point I give up. I'm just human.
One side of the comment section: This is stupid this is nothing to make a whole video about.
Other side: This struggle is real and I am 100% with this.
Personally, I’m half Chinese and half American, people who aren’t of mixed races don’t understand, and that’s fine. But that doesn’t give you the right to call this stupid. You all are calling this stupid because you’ve never dealt with this before. I’ve dealt with racist jokes, not knowing who I am in American society, and not being recognized about something I am isn’t a feeling anyone likes. If you’re not of many races and think this shouldn’t have existed, you are wrong.
Peak 1st world problems
This is so overdramatic
I honestly don't get what's the issue. How can you expect people to know what you are if you are biracial? You tell them if they ask. This is such a non issue and I don't get why the video is so dramatic.
👏
I 100% agree what with what you're saying! The only thing I can relate to is the rejection part. I mean it's not a full on thing, you aren't necessarily outcasted just for being biracial; that's a overly harsh way of saying it I say. I mean I've always gotten my feelings hurt when my Mexican friends
would hang out with eachother all the time soley because they wet both Mexican , and when I mentioned I was half Mexican, they would laugh and say " No you're black" then wouldn't gave me the same bond of culture because of it. Then for my other side there were like 2 black girls at my school who didn't like half black girls for some reason I know it sound exaggerated but I'm being legit they upfront told me they didn't want to talk to me because I wasn't " really " black. So the thing is both sides said that I wasn't really a part of them and it kind of hurt. But yeah I'm just explaining the rejection part they make it seem dramatic and not necessarily as it is.
I mean I don't mind if people can't tell that I'm mixed it's understandable because of how dark my skin is and curls.
Buzzfeed just sucks rlly bad at portraying some things

People think I'm Black.... I'm 2% Finnish. WHY CAN'T PEOPLE REALIZE THIS??!
It may not seem important to you guys/ stupid, and that’s ok for you guys to have your own opinion, but please understand there is a tough and crucial Internal conflict with some biracial people.
I have an identity crisis almost everyday, because i never feel like I’m enough, I’m not black enough I’m not Mexican enough I’m not etc. And it’s tough because I feel almost alone. I don’t fit in with black people because I’m light skin and I don’t fit in with Mexicans because I can’t speak Spanish. I understand Not everything is about race, but as a Biracial teen who has always been excluded by my own people because I’m “not enough” it is a big deal to me.
haha same....

Nada Ehab that’s not even funny
its an issue cause we dont have a community yet
The only thing I don't understand is why they get frustrated over people don't guessing their ethnicity right I mean? I don't look at someone and instantly know where they're from even if they're not mixed.
willy wonka perhaps you don’t get it because it’s not an issue you deal with daily...and that’s ok...we all have our stories to tell. #OwnYourStory
Elle Jay the other things they said are completely valid. But I don't see the point in being sad because people can't get where you're from right away
willy wonka it's kind of hard to explain, but let me give you an example. I am half Chinese half Belgian and I grew up in Belgium. I've been stared at for most of my life because I obviously don't look mainstream Belgian. Even though I speak, eat, live and feel as a Belgian, some people still don't accept me as a Belgian. They tell me I look Asian or maybe Hispanic. Whenever I go to China to visit my family, I don't really get accepted over there as well. This is because I don't speak Mandarin as well as my family members in China and I don't look full Chinese. So conclusion: mixed people, like me, often get rejected in both cultures. It's not really about whether or not we are identified, it's about whether we are being accepted or not in a society. If you take a plate of rice for example and there is 1 rice grain that doesn't look white nor black. It might taste the same and have the same form as a white rice grain, but you'll always treat and experience it differently.
Jonathan Xu I get what you're saying! And of course that has been hard for you and everyone who's mixed. I was talking about them in the beginning saying "I have to explain that I am half white half Mexican" and etc because if you look different than the majority people are gonna be curious and ask you about it. I think that failing to guess your ethnicity is normal because you don't look at someone and automatically know where they come from. For instance probably when you went to China people didn't know that you were half Belgian but that didn't make you sad, I expect. One thing is what I've said other is saying that 'oh but you don't look *enter any race here*'. Even if people aren't being purposely mean saying that you don't look like the race you belong to is harsh.
Jonathan Xu Maybe I've misunderstood what they said. I don't know lol
this makes no sense. ..... who cares what race you are, why are this people complaining about this...... this people just want attention and empathy. we are all humans, who cares about what race you are.
+Bens PK I feel like these people are trying to find a reason to complain
a lot of people care
well its more of an identity thing. im biracial and im never really discriminated against or oppressed but i do have a hard time deciding if i should identify as asian or white because the first question in always asked once someone finds out in biracial is "which are you more of" like its just annoying never being fully accepted. if i want to identify as bi racial, im told to choose. if i want to identify as asian, in told that im not asian enough. its not a huge issue but its something that a lot of people struggle with
HUMAN IS THE RACE.
