"What he needs is an economic overthrow"
Don't we all
naoki getting ready to say words in such a way that no man woman or child on earth will be able to understand him on purpose:
Hopefully Naoki and Daisuke won't try to reference Damon Albarn's style of singing and/or lyrics composition: the resulting journey and attempts to decipher the lyrics bound to be _trippy._
We all had our ups and downs trying to understand GGST lyrics. But in the end, all the attempts we had are DAAAAAAAANDY
Every Ups and Downs copy is personalized
My favorite part about a new character releasing is everyone trying to guess what the correct lyrics are and failing miserably until naoki reveals it
Really all this time it was "economic overthrow"
"What he needs is an economic overthrow" MY MAN JUST GETS MORE AND MORE BASED
Fuck capitalism-Slayer
The irony of the vampire to say "Eat the rich"
Socialist king
@@thosebloodybadgers8499My Dandy in Christ, you are rich yourself
@@vhyez tbf, he actually helps the world, he probably got rich through the assassin's guild, which was actually really good before Slayer started neglecting it, most rich people are born rich then get richer by exploiting their workers and throw literal masses under the bus to save money. Hell, Oprah who's considered an inspiration to many raised money for charity through other people's donations and didn't actually donate to anything lmfao
I see everyone talking about "economic overthrow" completely overlooking the *snap* before starting this absolute banger
It's glorious
Snap shot in time
no way anyone hear that and thought "economic overthrow"
I thought it was hardly overthrow
undertow hehe
I did, but made the reasonable conclusion that was nonsense
@@somethingsomewhere4854I mean in the context of the song it does make sense knowing what we know now
@@RavenUwU605that Slayer as from The IRS?
This song is the dandiest mandela effect I've ever heard.
ABA's theme was also hell to decypher, only solved because NAOKI posted a picture of the lyrics
not them as text, literally just a fucking picture of the paper with the lyrics
also the new lyrics completely retextualized the song
I FUCKING KNEW IT, I WAS AN ECONOMIC OVERTHROW 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
ONCE AGAIN,OUR MESSIAH,NAOKI,HAS HELPED US IN OUR ENDEAVOR.
Naoki the goat tbh
YEAH THE MORE PEOPLE SNAPPING AT THE START THE DANDYER
Kinda surprised no one guessed "a snapshot in time" or "sapphire gloves" considering how many different interpretations there were
Cloud Drop got Snapshot in Time
people did guess snapshot in time
Who is Slayer talking about with Sapphire Gloves, then? All the explanations with Sol make sense with the original interpretation, but it's clearly wrong.
@@NotGeno can't believe the guy that doesn't use official lyrics half the time was one of the only ones to get that lmao
@@supur9298it’s nago the lyrics pretty much confirm it he wear a sapphire glove and have a platinum knife (sword) and his song has a section about economic overthrow
I was not expecting the economic overthrow
I don't remember if I've commented this under one of your videos before, but I've mentioned elsewhere just how great Naoki's falsetto is and I don't think he gets enough credit for it. It's really cool to see him dipping his feet into that higher range he has for these newer songs. We've heard it somewhat over the years when he's harmonized with himself as far back as Xrd, but I'm obligated to gush over it taking more precedence in these new themes. Just when you think he's shown us everything he can do he surprises us yet again, and for a vocalist in his 40's that's d*mn impressive and dare I say, dandy af.
Edit: For reference, I'm referring to the notes at 3:07 and also in Symphony when he sings "Turn the ᵏᵉʸ to a world untold", gives me goosebumps everytime.
I know everyone is saying Slayer is a communist because of the second verse mostly as a meme, but keep in mind he started the Assassin's Guild for the express purpose of judging and punishing those who elevated themselves above the law using their wealth and/or status...
That second verse man... And I don't think I'll be able to avoid saying "a sad short detour" instead of "a snapshot in time" while singing along, I just feel like it fits
Same
ECONOMIC OVERTHROW?!?!
1:58 what did bro mean by that
I'm pretty sure he's saying that his friend is surrounded with expensive thing that are nice but since he's surrounded by precious thing his heart turned into stone SO he needs an economic overthrow
@@hollowhazze3140having it easy and being surrounded by luxury can be isolating and damaging to people’s empathy. Being wealthy can’t make you happy, you need a purpose.
He means that we should change the system.
tankie
@@Hababalooo ehhhh a lot of the songs imply that. This one seems more individual, even if it’s a similar message
Guys, for that infamously stupid verse, I have some kind of explanation?
It's Gabriel. "Sapphire gloves" made me think of Zepp's uniform, and it kinda makes sense. I mean, the "economic overthrow" was likely the revolution of Zepp after the first GG game, and his eyes literally and figuratively don't shine, with him being a monotone man rarely seen outside his office despite his position and the utter contrats to his rival's personality. Best explanation I could give ig, take it with much more than a grain of salt tho lol.
"What he needs is an economic overthrow" May genuinely be one of Daisuke's hardest hitting lines in isolation and stands tall next to "Up to our knees are the shadows of their contra-spiracy"
Like, he has a few in him he'll just unleash every now and then
I feel people (perhaps, naturally) tend to associate these songs too closely to their associated characters when I don't get the impression that Daisuke writes them to *BE* explicitly about their character. He never, like, actually roots the written lyrics in any written lore about the character or even lore of Guilty Gear as a whole. There's only one actual instance of a song dropping an explicit "Guilty Gear" thing, and it's fucking GNN which was the CNN parody that GG-Sign-'s story has as a framing device. (It's Nagoriyuki's theme by the by)
There's some debatable ones (Armor-Clad Faith) but that's the only song that specifically has framing in the Guilty Gear Universe. I find it to be better than, say, The XX albums- Especially the L.A. ones (cause I don't understand Japanese naturally) which just wanted to constantly assert that they *were* Guilty Gear. (Johnny, Johnny Johnny- And they'll call me Bridget~!!, etc)
I give Daisuke a lot of passes regarding his English (and assume in a few cases there are typos in some instances of official materials, especially SIGN), but this one's definitely clunkier, though if you assume it to be a genius-level move it plays into Slayer's proclivities for nonsensical haiku
so, y'know, he has an out this time.
I still can't hear "Hardly the stuff of Bedtime stories" I actually just hear "Hearbeat stopper Bedtime Story"
Naoki sometimes doesnt pronounce the "s" at the end of words; like later in this song it sounds like he sings "but what matter is that your eye shine" and all
I mean, as a non-first language English speaker I get it
God i love how Slayer goes on about how you should Live, Laugh, Love and not care about materialistic things and money, while LITERALY being an immortal vampire Jeff Bezos.

why can't they just release the lyrics immedietly having to unlearn some wrong lyrics is gonna be a pain
I swear it's like they want us to suffer 🥲
The single snap upload into the triple snap upload is one of the changes of all time 🫰🫰🫰
this is the “quirky note” situation all over again
Naoki says they "arent official"
So by his acknowledgement its still "heartbeat stopper, bedtime story" to me even though... they're his lyrics.. and he's the singer
Economic overthrow.... 😂😂😂😂😂
Who would have thought of that while listening 😂😂😂😂
Wait "sapphire gloves"? I honestly thought it was sapphire glow
I thought it was Soft Fire Glow
Yeah idk about this because when he did the "Doesn't it sound like this?" thing with Johnny's lyrics, he still posted the wrong lyrics because he's not actually allowed to show the lyrics without permission.
How do you know the Just Lean lyrics he posted are wrong?
Nothing's ever deconfirmed the lyrics for Johnny's theme that Naoki posted wdym?
so hes def talking about nago not sol in that middle verse
Can't be. Nago is literally wandering the world trying to meditate on the nature of his existence/isolate himself from people he might hurt. That's not at all luxurious.
I thought he was talking about himself
It doesnt really fit Nago at all- the verse seems like it is about having luxury without feeling fulfilled
It coumd easily be about Zato; though a young Gabriel is also possible, depending on what he was like.
There's also the more abstract interpretations that it's a general thing about several friends of his, or Slayer talking about his younger self perhaps.
I feel like the song is talking about Sol "the morning sun" and Ky "Platinum knife with sapphire gloves"
@@limelaminum2935 That's an interesting possibility tgat the first verse could be about Sol, especially since Slayer named him and all
My personal interpretation has been that the first verse refers to the extinction of vampires that happened around the 90s and 00s- leaving Slayer only with the company of humans, and while he will never be the same as them, he finds joy in observing them and accepts them as the ones to whom the new world belongs
rise of the Dandy Communist Vampire let's fucking GOOOOOOOO
Economic overtrhow
Did Naoki delete the tweet? I can't find it on his page and the link in the description doesn't work

What exactly changed?
"A sad, short, detour" was changed to "a snapshot in time."
"With soft fires glow" was changed to "with sapphire gloves."
And that's basically it.
Most of the second part (sapphire gloves, economic overthrow)
ECONOMIC OVERTHROW
Im sorry but it does not sound like "economy overthrow"
It does, and it makes a lot of sense given the context of the other lines in the verse
Cool ups & Downs: "Happy ending is just a snapshot in time"
Coolest Ups & Downs: "Happy ending in just a sad short detour"
E: Imo it makes sense for slayer because the line basically means that to experience happiness you have to experience sadness, which sure we don't really have a moment where slayer isn't enjoying life, it's possible that it talks about before his earliest appearence in guilty gear. It feels like something he'd say.
That or I hate change and prefer the old one for no reason whatsoever.
Hard disagree. Doesn't make sense thematically
Kinda does considering slayer has probably seen many friends live and die through out his life so he probably consider his time with them Sad short detours with happy endings
@themis-xis9265 It's exactly why "snapshot in time" is better. Because to Slayer, HIS happy ending is only but a small moment in his life. Followed by "Life is the journey, not the destination." Slayer already accepted the price of immortality. He focuses on enjoying the present (and those people now) rather than the inevitable future.
Atleast that's my interpretation.
Snapshot in time just makes more sense. It's like when you take pictures on a nice vacation. A good moment to remember, but just few of many.
bro its not snapshot in time its a sad short tea time
these are the official lyrics, posted by NAOKI (the singer) himself
