Russian composer Tchaikovsky used an Italian bugle call to open his Capticcio Italien. The thematic melody of "Il Silenzio" is an extension of the Italian Calvary bugle call. The memorial piece was commissioned by the Dutch and first performed in 1965 on the 20th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands. Although "Il Silenzio" is an instrumental piece, it contains a small Italian lyric which is spoken. Odd, I thought this piece of Music was composed in 1965 in commemoration of the liberation of Holland by the allies in 1944, My father was alive then and we went to the ceremony where this was played, Strange I know, I am 58 now, But I swear I heard it back then, must be going quite mad , No I am sure it was written back in the 60s Paula, cos back when I was a young Soldier in the 70s they played this at the Arnhem Memorial day in 1978, 7 years before 1985, But is it a humbling piece of music, in line with Taps and the Last Post.
Her parents should be proud she is a wonderful trumpet player people consider her as the best for her age and older trumpet players consider her better than them. You can tell she will grow to be a world famous trumpet player when she grows up if that was possible she travels around the world to play songs of joy.

She plays well. I've seen a vid of her later on with the mouthpiece centered. I wouldn't throw her out of my band class either way. I would however have her work those kickers a little more-if she's going to play that well the next step is adjusting pitch but she's so close it's hardly an issue.
This is great and all... but isn't it just a tad simple? I know music doesn't have to be fast or exciting to be beautiful, but this really isn't that impressive. Maybe the last note, but I can play that and i'm not that great of a trumpet player. Anyone else think the same, or am I alone on this one?
As a trumpet player myself. This girl has amazing tone, and flawless execution on this piece. Brings tears to the eye, and really pulls at your heart
