- Melissa Venema plays "What a wonderful world" in the Cathedral of Ieper (Belgium) on May 1 2015 to remember the 500.000 soldiers who died there during world war 1914-1918. Pianist is J. Schenk.
I am old, 73. I played the trumpet when I was young and this girl is totally in charge of a very fickle instrument. She has that special touch which makes the trumpet come alive and stir the emotions. BRAVO young lady.

@@acedrawler3175 It may not be extremely fast with a bunch of notes and doesn't go above an E until the last note in this version but that doesn't mean it's an easy piece. Sound is key and should be the one element of playing prioritized by trumpeters. Every song is "hard" because there's always room for improvement.

I’m so happy to have found this, my friends always tease me for being a female trumpet player (I also play out the side of my mouth because my teeth aren’t straight and that leads to more teasing) and finding this video with this amazingly talented woman has just given me so much more confidence to continue
I have asked Melissa the same question and yes, same reason for her as her tooth that is just to her right of her two large front teeth is set somewhat to the side and rearward of the two large main front teeth which results it her positioning the mouth piece slightly to her right to enable her to play comfortably and permit the best sound.
