  • Batman Forever Movie Review. Continuing on the road to The Batman (2022) Directed by Matt Reeves & Starring Robert Pattinson. I now look at Joel Schumachers Batman Forever making Val Kilmer our new Batman / Bruce Wayne featuring villains like Jim Carrey Riddler & Tommy Lee Jones Two face while finally bringing in the boy wonder Robin played by Chris O'Donnell. A much more light hearted & campy version of batman so Warner Brothers could sell merchandise. My full movie reaction & review SPOILERS.

      Loved Val Kilmer as batman and Bruce Wayne thought he did an incredible job and his Bruce Wayne was a more serious businessman jim carrey was perfect as the riddler and I liked two-face but was too over the top and manic. Liked Robin but thought he was old enough to protray Nightwing. I really loved the sdtk and the first cassette and sdtk I ever bought and listened to for hours on end. Also loved to play the Batman forever snes game.

      And if The Batman does great in theaters , maybe they can possibly reintroduce robin in that universe as a young kid going through a hard time.

    As even thought this movie isn’t quite like a dope story telling film and is used as like to make promotion of toys. But the positive of the film is to have Val Kilmer portray Batman so well with his voice sound almost like Kevin conroy. And the fight choreography in this movie is the first martial arts choreographed combat in Batman film history. And the batmobile looks pretty much so sci fi and almost futuristic than Michael Keaton’s batmobile .

    The Batman 89 comic has some interesting concepts that I really like, but as you read further into it, it gets into modern political issues which wouldn't have been stuffed into a 1995 Burton movie. That made me accept Batman Forever more. The Redbook fan edit is interesting. I think Burton should have gotten to make a movie with some creative help to reflect more the 1989 tone. What I remember about Batman Forever is a return of Batmania that Batman Returns lacked. Not my favorite, but its story on the franchise is interesting. The soundtrack was the best part....

  • @brandonspain12345
    @brandonspain12345 Před 2 lety +6

    For me, it's a middle of the road sequel. It does have genuine good stuff but they are many stuff that holds it back. For years, it was considered the most underrated Batman movie of the series but in retrospect, it's far from even that. Batman Forever had the right ingredients but it's like someone pissed in the recipe. It misses the mark on it's tone than Batman & Robin because it's so inconsistent tone wise, It doesn't know if it wants to be kiddy or gritty due to the battle of the studio meddling the production and Schumacher wanting it one way or another. And it misses the mark on the villains completely. Gone are the emotionally compelling villains and instead replaced with generic as hell kids movie villains and they are the bread and butter of Batman's stories. Bruce's psychological issues is good and further develops his character that Keaton's sorta lacked but you can't treat this a average MCU film where you have a good hero but the villain sucks, the villain has to be as great in a Batman movie otherwise you lack any tension or engage the audience, just with flashy eye-candy to destract your children for an hour. Batman Forever isn't a bad though, it's just disappointing and that hurts a lot more than if it was just a bad movie like Batman and Robin; to see the potential put to waste.

  • @BULLETSCARER
    @BULLETSCARER Před 2 lety +3

    I honestly enjoy it, like, if they release Schumacher's directors cut of the movie, that'd be cool. I honestly think Batman Forever is honestly a little underrated. Like, the action is handled pretty well, the visuals at times is great, like, the shot of Robin during the fight with Two Face in the end, that's badass. The only problem I had with the movie is how both Two Face and Riddler were acting like Joker. Like, that to me was beyond stupid. That I think was the dumbest thing for Schumacher to do but I do see why. He wanted to do more of a lighter tone with the villains ig. So, I imagine in Schumacher's mind, it makes sense to have the villains be kinda cartoonish for the most part. But I do like what Schumacher was trying to do with Batman Forever in terms of visuals and the action. And even making it about both, Bruce Wayne and Batman, not just about the Batman persona.
    Admittedly, that could be why people didn't really like this movie all that much. Think about it, the movie has a great balance of Bruce Wayne and Batman, and I think more people would rather see Batman fighting criminals and taking on his rogues gallery than watching Bruce Wayne do Bruce Wayne stuff lol. And when you watch Batman and Robin (which I hate with a passion and it's up there in my opinion for my least favorite movies of all time next to Dragonball Evolution) there's more Batman stuff than Bruce Wayne stuff in the movie. So, like, that to me makes sense.

    Batman forever was the first Batman movie I ever saw. I fell in love with the character so much that I used to play with my brother as Batman and robin. I watched it over and over. Then we went to walmart and my dad bought me BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES. And you can guess what happened next. Batman forever is a really underrated film and, in my opinion, it’s one of the best Batman movies in live action. I hope we can see the darker cut one day too.

  • @batmanhelpingspider-man2342

    I’m 22, I grew up watching this movie I know most of the lines by heart. I was simping over Drew Barrymore so much in that scene I didn’t notice Jim Carey just chilling standing in the background 🤣🤣

    Super underrated! It's a visually beautiful movie. Val Kilmer is fantastic as Bruce, and he really looks the part. And don't get me started on the score! Fantastic music!

    The best family friendly Batman movie ever made!!! It was the first Batman movie I ever saw as a kid!! Man, I have such good memories with this film due to the fact I was a massive Jim Carey fan!!! Also it has one of the BEST MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS IN HISTORY!!! Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me By U2. WHAT A TUNE!!! Also Kiss From a Rose By Seal was it solidified it as an All Time Top Ten Movie Soundtrack. You could argue that it was one of those things in which the soundtrack is better than the movie!!! July 1995!!! As it was released later over here in the UK. Man this movie so HYPED!! Fond Childhood Memories!!! 😄👏🏾👌🏾👍🏾💯

    I absolutely love Batman Forever and hate when people say differently. I love Chris O'Donnell as Robin. Thought he was so cool. And Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones are in this movie? Come on! So much fun! Michael Keaton will always be my favorite Batman but I do enjoy this movie a lot. It's fun.

    I’ll always love Batman Forever. It was pretty much my very first live action Batman movie. This came out when I was in Kindergarten so I was too young to be allowed to watch the first two movies. Everyone did a great job in their roles, and to me Jim Carrey’s Riddler stole the whole movie. I was obsessed with his character lol. I was quoting his lines, I was him for Halloween in 95, etc. Definitely one of my most favorite Jim Carrey roles.

    I've seen seen every live action Batman film in a theater since 1989, and I remember the summer of 95 very well. Everyone around me was excited to have a new Batman movie. And all if going into it knowing we were finally going to get Robin, and Riddler and Two-Face...it was very very exciting. I still have my McDonald's Batman Forever glass mug. Could have done with out the bat nips and the shots of bat-ass, but I still love this movie.

  • @zeeski7454

    Val Kilmer is the most underrated batman /Bruce Wayne. This was the first time in live actin that they drove into the psychology of batman which is generally overlooked due to the campy nature of the villians in this movie. In retrospect this movie is awesome

  • @Tom_TTT
    @Tom_TTT Před 2 lety +2

    This was one of the first movies I saw in theatre as a kid and I watched it again this week. Hasn’t aged well.
    Val Kilmer seems like he’s in different movie as he plays it serious while The villains and Chase are in comedy mode.
    With the quality of the cast I believe they could have done a much better movie if the studio wanted to.

    I don’t care what anyone says, but I believe Val Kilmer was the best Bruce Wayne. Batman Forever is underrated and only gets as much abuse because of its successor; Batman & Robin. I would love a Schumacher Cut of Batman Forever.

    I can remember it like it was yesterday. I was exactly who this was aimed at and I had sooo many toys from this, so their attempt to sell merch definitely worked with me when this and B&R first hit. One thing I’m surprised you didn’t talk about was the new score. While I don’t think it’s as iconic as Danny Elfmans theme the new one for this was pretty great i always thought. Definitely an underrated one after all this time.

    I could be in the comments forever about this movie.. but just a few thoughts. I never thought Two Face was NOT in control when he meets Riddler. Tommy Lee Jones still brings about an intensity that is dangerous for Riddler. Riddler is not the physical type of threat that Two Face is. I love the giant sets and world Schumacher builds that feels like the 40's comics. And I love the self awareness the film brings.. like with McDonalds. Embraces Batman's history and place in pop culture without taking it too far.
