Mahershala needs to walk away from this project. Marvel is intent on pushing this idea of Blade's daughter replacing him. No one knows Blade even has a daughter. Screentime will be diverted away from needed development to go to her. It's terrible.
Disney hates strong male characters.
When Ali quits, Marvel will breathe a huge sigh of relief and cancel the movie.

There’s a very very easy way to explain vampires away. While Blade was around, they were hiding in complete fear, and acted very carefully. Once the snap happened, Blade vanished and when they realized it, they started emerging in increasing numbers to the point where they became noticeable. Basically the same way certain animals get out of control when their predators are removed.
Of course… They should’ve done this in 2021…

Writers for the MCU have no idea how to write a strong Black male character, and you're right, Ali won't want to be associated with this when it's all said and done.
I always thought blade was a bad idea because it didn't come about organically. It felt like marvel said "well a two time Oscar winner wants to play this character we're not ready for.... Whatever, let's fast track it, it'll work itself out."

Marvel needs to get its act together. If "Black Panther" could make a billion dollars, why can't "Blade"? This should be a priority for them, yet it isn't. Instead, they prioritize properties like the X-Men and Fantastic Four. While those are exciting, let's not forget that "Blade" was a trailblazer. Disrespecting that legacy is a serious oversight.
Vampires, much like witches in the Marvel Universe, can easily be woven into the narrative. Just as Wanda Maximoff and Agatha Harkness exist in their covens, it's entirely plausible to have a hidden society of vampires. With characters like Doctor Strange performing magic and Moon Knight battling werewolves, the inclusion of vampires is hardly a stretch.
It's particularly frustrating that this delay and backtracking are happening with a film centered around a Black hero. There seems to be an underlying racial bias here, as it's hard to imagine a white actor being put on hold for over five years with constant project delays. This pattern of sidelining Black actors is evident and troubling, yet it goes largely unaddressed in mainstream discussions. It's time to acknowledge this injustice and advocate for change.

You know, had Marvel never made a big announcement about a new Blade movie coming we wouldn't even be sweating them about this. Many movies can be stuck in development for YEARS before they finally begin filming. But because Marvel practically told us Blade was coming in the near future this is seen as hilariously ridiculous. It's their own fault.
Blade was announced 5 years ago... at this point we should have had blade out already and be talking about blade 2 filming and production. Recast Blade and get your shit together Marvel!

They should have never attached this movie to one actor. Apparently Ali approached Marvel and said he would like to play Blade. There was no prior plan for this movie, but felt if they had a multiple Oscar winner wanting to be in the MCU, they should conjure up a blade movie for him. The last time Marvel hired someone just because they won an Oscar, it was Brie Larson to play Captain Marvel and that choice seems like a bad casting now. The Blade movie is still not written and Ali will be far too old to appear in multiple Blade movies due to the delays. It is has been a mess from beginning to end and they need to look for a new actor because you cannot build an action franchise on an actor in his 60s. This mess will only look worst when Wesley Snipes appears in Deadpool 3.

@@teddybear8348 RDJ's role as Iron Man is not physically demanding. His role is dependent on CGI during action scenes, while Blade's actor needs to be in good shape to capture what is essentially John Wick with vampires instead of humans.
Christ, this isn't difficult. Just adapt a MI-5 Blade storyline. That way you can have Black Knight and other ensemble characters play roles.

Marvel try to put everything into shelve where not every character will fit in to MCU now they developed Antman with Edgar Wright for years to point his version of Antman didn't fit in anymore where 5yrs earlier he would've it now same with Blade maybe 10yrs ago Blade maybe would've fit in with MCU I guess Marvel should take Blade out of MCU and have him be it own franchise with no connection to MCU like DC did with The Batman

Give us Deadpool & Wolverine, Captain America 4, Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four, Shang-Chi 2, Avengers 5 and 6, Agatha, Moon Knight season 2, Ironheart, Daredevil: Born Again, Armor Wars, Eternals 2, Thor 5, Spider-Man 4, a Scarlet Witch project, Young Avengers and X-Men. Give us these things and heck with everything else. This should all be 2025-2030

I don't see how introducing vampires into the MCU is an issue at all. We've gotten "all of the gods" in Love and Thunder, magic, wizards, androids, aliens, werewolves, dragons, secret goverments and so much more. At this point, it'd be more weird if vampires didn't exist lol. Also, that's what pretty much EVERY vampire story is about- normal people discovering that vampires exist and not believing it- and usually there's some rogue vampire, or group of rogue ones, that are tired of living in the shadows and are ready to "come out", to take over the world or whatever. For me, explaining where the mutants have been, if they're supposed to already exist in the MCU as we know it, is a much harder sell than vampires
U already know Ali is probably the only one who wants the absolute best for this project.

Again.. Chad stahelski went to have a meeting with Kevin Feige after the release of John wick 3 to talk about doing something for them… he specifically wanted to direct Blade for them.. Feige declined and decided to go with the first guy who had the job and started the shit show due to him being inexperienced and not fit for the job then followed by marvels own failing over and over.. stahelski has continued to state over and over again in articles, podcasts ect that he’d still do it for them
They want cheap directors and writers.

The setup is easy. You simply say Vampires have been laying low till the snap there numbers dwindled and they became desperate they ramped up turning people then there one snapped came back that leaves Blade with way more work than he's ever had.
Re-writing the movie is fine, but it's still dissapponting to hear that its being scrapped again, because they announced this thing so long ago and can't get it right.
Let me guess. Mahershala is being written out and recast as Cottonmouth in Luke Cage?

I don't think the supernatural is a problem for the MCU. The multiverse is the perfect platform they're not from 616 earth so they don't have to be connected to a thor or a Spider-Man ect.

I think they are really struggling to figure out how to make this movie work.
At the end of 2023, it was reported that Blade was going to have a ”shockingly” low budget of under $100M.
But it isn’t shocking at all when you remember that the 1998 Blade made $131M at the global box office. Blade 2 did only a little bit better at $155M, and Blade: Trinity fell back down to $131M.
20 years after Blade: Trinity, I don’t think anyone has a clue how well or how badly a new Blade movie will do. So they’re trying to find a way to make it into a big MCU ”event movie’ while keeping the budget relatively small, and that’s a difficult (maybe impossible?) nut to crack.

His casting was a mistake. Too old to have a franchise with him, not believable as martial artist, and will want to quickly move on with different roles.

I’m starting to think that when it comes to Mahershala Ali as Blade we’re gonna end up getting an Edward Norton as Bruce Banner kind of situation, where he’ll be Blade for this 1 movie but the next time we see him he’ll be played by someone else, because at this point Mahershala Ali is gonna be too old to continue on as Blade for another decade or so, and obviously they’re gonna want Blade around for a long time, and so I think they’re just gonna have to end up recasting him after his first movie

I just don't think they know how to make a blade movie. The MCU is soft around the edges. If you can't set the tone like the club scene in the first movie why bother.
Maharshala Ali is too old to play Blade anyway. Wesley Snipes was 38 years old when he first played Blade. Recast Blade with an younger actor.

I don't think it's all that hard. They've already introduced a whole society of monster hunters in Werewolf by Night and even before then we learned in Doctor Strange that sorcerers exist and they deal with supernatural threats. Introducing vampires into a world that already has all these otherworldly entities that the generation population isn't even aware of shouldn't be this challenging.
The Blade situation is definitely being over thought. It’s a simple premise, black guy hunting down vampires. Doctor Strange, the X-Men the Multiverse, the Eternals werewolf by night marvel has layers. It can get convoluted, but a good movie is still a good movie just calm down and approach it the way it’s meant to be approached.😮
I would cast John David Washington as Blade and maybe have Mahershala in something like Deadpool & Wolverine or Multiverse of Madness

I went with a friend to see Alita battle Angel when it came out in theaters. I turned to my friend and said that Mahershala Ali would be a awesome blade for the MCU. Then the following year or so they announced he was sent to play the character. I was so pumped because I knew he would kill it but after all these years, they really need to get someone that's in their late 30s or maybe early 40s for this role for longevity. I would be so mad if he only showed up in like two movies and they passed the torch to a daughter or something.
At this rate, we're gonna get Ryan Coogler's vampire film before Blade, but as long as both are great stories, I'm happy.

They should have made a Blade 4 proper, specially since Wesley was eager and still in shape enough to do it...The movie could have just explained that Blade wakes up decades later from his hibernation that he entered in Trinity and that vampire society slowly and secretly rebuild itself retroactively in the MCU, which would have made it made sense that nobody noticed them.
Nailed it. I like the waking up from hibernation after trinity. And if he killed Drizzy, maybe thats the reason there's no vampires. They died after Blade Trinity.
He's a man without a battle like Steve Rogers was a man out of time.
I'd like to see a younger actor get the role. Plus, it would be cool if Marvel got a fresh actor like they did with Ms. Marvel. Get someone who grew up in a martial arts background and has decent acting chops. Make Blade a bad ass as he should be!

They could have something like the Masquerade from Vampire: The Masquerade where they have super strict rules to hide their existence. And they could have treaties with other mystical powers to prevent an all out war.
