- Welcome back to the Plodalong!
This year we hope to chat to two guests per show about the Women's Prize, and we kick off on Sunday 25th February with two fabulous booktubers, both of whom are huge fans of non-fiction; @abookolive and @ameliabarlowbooks.
The plodalong is hosted by me, @GemofBooks and @CharlieBrookReads.
We will be bringing you live shows throughout Women's Prize season as we celebrate and discuss all of the longlisted books.

and the fiction longlist is due to be announced on 5th March. We will be going live following the longlist announcement to react to the judges choices for this year's award.

Fab intro talk about non-fiction! I love the idea of picking topics that interest you to delve into non-fiction - I love non-fiction so I'll just about anything haha. I was discussing this with my husband yesterday about how non-fiction that's basically storytime is more popular too because people feel like they are being told a story rather than lectured at, but it's a fine balance for a lot of non-fiction writers (coughacademicscough).
And you know on the Doppelganger thing - I actually went to an event with the other Naomi thinking it was Naomi Klein! Shock of my life 😂 and that's exactly when the whole thing about both of them came out because the other Naomi started talking nonsense. The more I hear about this book the less it interests me though.
Oh no, not the other Naomi! Just goes to show that the point she’s making in the book is a real and valid one.
Thanks for catching up, it was so great to get Olive and Amelia’s tips on non-fiction and to have a chance to spotlight this list before the fiction one comes out. I hope none of the books are too academic for me. 😂

As much as I am banned from Gemma's pizza club as I would put fruit on a pizza (not fig though 🤢)
I am completely in agreement for tea flavoured ice cream - no herbs and flowers thanks! It's a Tea only space for that.
However I will fight for peanut butter it's the salty sweet joy like pecan and maple syrup, peanut butter chocolate is a yes! 😂💜📚
Haha you know what we are like, bringing constant food controversy to Booktube! I recently actually tried fig on pizza (taking one for the team) and can confirm it was not nice. I’m very unsure about tea ice cream. I think tea is better as tea ☕️ 🫖 😂
