ATS Diesel makes an Allison conversion that doesn't require grinding the block and its compatible to the existing computer with no programming needed. Base price approximately $12,000 for a direct bolt in and "plug and play" electrical.
@@billgreen5490 Yeah, but it's ATS and all the negativity that comes with. Plus they are still new at the Allison where CAConversions has been at this for over 20 years. A little block grinding, cutting and splicing wires, but I'm very confident I have a much better package than what ATS is putting out. I've watched their transmissions get torn down and it's not quality parts that went in.
@@michaelgalea7509 I’ve got a friend who runs Schaefer and really likes it. I started running Amsoil in my AAM axles because that’s what everybody suggested. What separates the tech/mechanic from the grease monkey, is tenacity. You have tenacity and you learn from your mistakes. I was an auto mechanic for over 40 years, and I've did my share of trial and error modifications on things as well. That's how you gain skills. The school of hardknocks has a cruel mistress for an instructor, but the lessons learned separate the men from the boys. Don't feel bad. It fought, but you fought back.
Wow!! Such an amazing comment, thank you so much! I have certainly gained skills from this modification and it's always cool to be able to look back and know how beaten you were and to know you clawed your way back and now you get to reap the fruits of your labors. I absolutely love doing this stuff and sometimes I may hate the job, but in the end I finish it and get to enjoy the finished product.
@@TheRoostersGarage That's how it was for me too. It was a job that I "loved to hate". I'm disabled now, but I miss being able to tinker with cars like I used to, and I even like the modern muscle cars as well. My dream was to take a 72 Demon body and marry the entire drivetrain, suspension, braking system from a 2018 Demon, with all the creature comforts of the 2018, but that's a dream that I hope some CZcamsr does while I observe.
That would be an awesome combo! I've seen some new body suspensions put on the old classics but never seen anybody do an entire body swap to the new rolling chassis.

Good video I have a 2011 3500 Ram 500 HP. I also went with the Allison 1000 from C&A conversions. About 18 months ago. K C & Dave are awesome. After watching your video. Having Dave and his crew do the installation. Worth every penny. They are the best!!!
They are really great people. I did this install in September but wanted to get quite a bit of driving on the truck before releasing the video. I was hoping to have a fix for the loss of 4 low included in the video but I’m still working on a solution and so are they.

You proved to be a stubborn badger standing it's ground against a lion of a project! You prevailed and now you get to enjoy eating the fruitage of your labor. So satisfying to see all that working as good as, or rather, EVEN BETTER, than factory. Sweet truck!!!
Reminds me of manual swapping my 01, I gutted the donor truck and my truck and did most of the work myself. Never want to do it again 🤣 I had my doubts but was super proud when it was all done and driveable !
It was not designed to be in a Dodge, and all the SAE adapter plates are too big to fit in the tunnel which makes this more challenging. Yeah, I thought I could stab the new transmission in the same day I pulled the old one out. LOL!!
Thank you for posting this. I have contemplated this for a while and seeing how much work you put in has convinced me to not tackle such a monumental task.
When I decided to take this on myself, there weren't many videos on it and I knew I wanted to document everything. It's a huge process, but CA will do it for you.
@@jameshardin4326 Really?! CA has been doing this for 20+ years and the Cummins is their bread and butter. One of their employees has a 3rd gen Cummins and hauls heavy loads all the time. Only time will tell and I am quite talented at breaking stuff.

@@user-ql4op7hx8f I always try to find out more when people say things like that online. It's not like we can have a face-to-face discussion and work things out like that. Honestly the only Allisons I've heard of with issues are in GM vehicles using GM programming. Apparently something in there is the issue. I went with CA because they offer the commercial programming that's supposed to be the same as what's in busses, box trucks, etc. that all go hundreds of thousands of miles hauling heavy. Much more than I'll ever do with my truck, but mine should run 1 million miles without a hitch.
It sure was a ton of work, but I wanted people to know what to expect with this kit. I still think it's worth it and think the only transmission that's better would be a manual, but I'm pretty old school and would have only manuals if it were up to me
Thank you! My goal with everything I do is to make it look like it left the factory that way and not to make some huge mess. Whether I accomplish that goal is another thing.
I finally got my ATS DIESEL ALLISON CONVERSION KIT, looks a lot simpler then the kit you got. My bel housing bolts directly to my original one, my starter stays in its original position and my transfer case just has a 5/8 adapter plate, and it doesn't use a an adapter shaft between the transmission and transfer case
ATS build a brand new bellhousing for the mating of the two. I would like to run that bellhousing and get my Cummins starter back. That's interesting about the transfer case end.
Hey man, great gob showing a lot of detail! I've seen several vids of guys using a soup can of same size over the rear seal and tap away. Merchant Automotive sells one with their logo on it. Been thru that one myself. Back to the vid. Almost done
That would work and I’ll have to check out Merchant Automotive as well. Thanks for the tip! Before I did this swap I couldn’t find any videos with any level of detail showing how it was done from start to finish, so I wanted to video the entire thing and at the very least let people understand what this level of undertaking is. Then for that person who’s stuck on something, I wanted this video to be able to answer their question and get them back to work.
Doing it without a lift would have been how I did it if not for the very generous offer of a good friend who installed the lift in his shop a couple weeks prior. Hope this video helps you decide how you want to proceed.

Thanks for the great vid, which I just found. Have talked to Dave at CA a couple of times in the past 2 weeks and am about to spring for the Allison for my 2000 24 valve which has the 47re. I see no comments here about trucks that old, but Dave says no problem. I notice ATS only starts with a solution for the 48re. Used to race my truck (15-18 years ago), would do 1/4 mile in 13.5 seconds. SINCE then, went to compound turbos, even bigger injectors ("200 hp"), and run about 80 psi. At least 100 hp more than when I raced. I had everything ATS had to offer- billet shafts, valve body, 5 star torque converter. Anyways, fully built 47re. I've snapped 2 input shafts, and have had additional failures, the last one towing a 10,000 lb trailer to Alaska. Anyways, I estimate I've got about $20,000 in that tranny alone. The last decade I have NOT been running extra power- too expensive! Only 180K miles, but massive rust. Now in the last week, hauling firewood, tranny slipping, trouble shifting... I'm done with the constant $2k-$3k repair bills. Sorry for the rambling, but happy to see your process! Really surprised to see comments here about how strong the 48 is. Scratching my head on that. SO looking forward to (very likely) swapping with a built Allison.
A lot of the comments are in regards to truck pulls, etc. but I'm pretty sure those get torn down and rebuilt pretty often. 350 feet is one thing, pulling a trailer across the country is another. I know CA has done older trucks - they've been at this for 20+ years. Your truck sounds like a beast! That's what I love about diesel trucks, you can race it, then pull a trailer to Alaska. I don't see any funny cars or NASCAR trucks pulling trailers around! That's a lot of money put into a transmission that keeps having issues. If you go with CA, they will treat you right. There's not many companies left that treat customers well, but CA is one of them for sure. When I picked it up after having to ship it down to them, KC wanted me to call her when I got home just to make sure everything was good even though I was spending a week in Florida before going home. I'm mostly stock on my truck, but it had been through a weight loss program before I bought it, then I upgraded the turbo when the factory one started acting wonky at 220k. I finished with the Allison swap November of last year and ran it for a while before uploading the video so I could also report how it was going after many months of use. I've just been learning the new transmission and how it behaves in different conditions. I don't feel the boat behind the truck anymore and pulling up the boat ramp I was at 1200 rpm instead of the 2000 I was at before the swap. My old gooseneck trailer that I haven't yet weighed pulls great now. The old transmission always felt like I was dragging an anchor, but with this one the power goes to the ground. Heck, I've even spun tires with the gooseneck hooked up while pulling out onto a road.

More grinding and cutting than I expected from the conversion. I have a G56 in my 2006 so I likely won't be converting. Maybe when I get old and tired of rowing through the gears.
I overground and the instructions were missing but I didn't realize it. I had a couple sheets and when I got to the wiring and ran out of sheets and their videos I called them. There's a big spot on the grinding that says "DO NOT OVERGRIND".
Our F650 rollback had a 5.9 / Allison 1000, it had 400,000 on it when we sold it, the cab and fenders were rough, but ran good, never had a trans issue, new spin on, drain and fill every 30,000, new sump filter every 90,000.
i recently swapped my 06 to a g56... if i wasnt so hellbent on wanting to throw a stick, this would have been the path id have gone as well. I have an m2 as my Work truck and it has the a1k behind a 6.7 and its such a pleasure to drive around.
If I didn't have to have an automatic on account of my wife and working in the city, I would have manual swapped it. I do love the Allison though. My 68 had over 200k miles and the torque converter wasn't doing much. It was truly a night and day difference
I did the CA Conversations kit as well! Karen and Dave accully came out to the farm to fix my "ATS" disaster!!! It works great, but if your truck is running at least 700 to 900 horse, you need to use differnt clutches and higher flow pump in the trans, I burnt out 2 because of my power rating in my 6.7.
@Rooster's Garage you should be perfectly fine then. I've got big injectors, cp3, fass 150, and big compounds on mine and it tears things up so. I hope your build goes smooth for ya!! Enjoy the new allison it makes a awesome difference!!
I watched your video, and after I seen all the work and modifications you had to do, I watched the video from ATS DIESEL, I decided to go with there transmission Alison swap kit instead. Looks a lot nicer all the way around.
New Subscriber here. I felt your pain with that adapter plate lol. It seems no matter what project I have, it becomes the most complicated one! Great video!
The Allison 1000 is a perfect match for the 5.9. It really improves the drivable. The only real problem was with wiring and computer. Fabricate shields to protect and reliability drastically improved. The big brown trucks would easily keep us with traffic in city or highway driving
Thank you! There were a few times I was overwhelmed and didn't think I could finish it. Thought I might have bitten off more than I could chew, but I just focused on one small task after another and before I knew it they were all done.
Biggest difference between light duty ( gm) and medium duty( class4,5, and 6 /4500ect) Allison programming is the torque converter clutch locks have way through 2nd gear( fills like 2-3shift) and stays locked down to 15mph . This reduces Trans Temps and improves trasn life exponentially, and gets rid of the soccer mom buttery soft shifts. It reduces temperatures so much that both my Trans builder and CA C required that I rerouted the cooler lines to go out front first then the liquid to liquid ( big log on the side of the cummins) to warm the fluid back to operating temp, Allison programming dose not allow learning below 148°f Trans temp. Dave ( owner of CA Conversions ) was very good with assisting me getting all the little details figured oit.
In my kit they have a thermostatic bypass that routes the fluid back into the transmission until it reaches a certain temperature. That's the thing mounted underneath the transmission and they explained the reasoning to me as well. The transmission controller from CAC uses the Allison programming. The shifts aren't soft and the torque converter locks up in 2nd gear. Pulling my boat with this transmission is a world of difference from my last transmission and it's only about 5000 lbs or so.
The difference between CAC and my builder was that Holen Fox transmission, was to use the liquid to liquid on the return line to bring the Trans up to temp at the same rate as the motor . I have -20-30f Temps to deal with and the way you have it setup it won't warm up for me . I did add a 20k btu cooler on the "to cooler" line and a missimoto thermal oil bypass(160°f) to bypass the big double pass cooler for loads builder requiredupgradingthe lines to3/4". My builder strictly works on medium duty trucks/ busses he built it for 2k tq don't care about hp as 1st gens make 3:1 (tq:hp) and top out at ~600hp/1800tq with a race VE pump 400hp/ 1200tq with stock pump. A p pump making 400hp is only 800tq due to fixed timing. Agen well done . It took me about 1 month to do the install wille workin 80-90hrs a week working on Fed Ex Freightlander delivery trucks( sorce of my cores). Trans tunnel had to be pushed up ~ 6" and widened ~9"on my 91.5 2wd it's very tight no room for a 4" exhaust between the starter and frame so I ran it through the finder and down the outside of the frame.
@@daviddroescher Liquid to liquid? That’s cool! I don’t have to deal with that kind of cold here in Tennessee. I wish diesel stuff would be rated in torque instead of HP, even tractors are rated in HP and its crazy because they have so much torque and the HP number is pretty meaningless. Your truck makes mine seem easy! That’s a lot of customization to make this big trans fit. My buddy has a 90 or 91 4wd and I was shocked how small that trans was.
@@TheRoostersGarage W to W is on the passenger side of the block under the manifold for 1st gen . I went a little further on fording my truck. Don't be fooled, there was a bit of wrench throwing off camera. It was very stressful at times, like grinding the block and then again when nothing was going right. It wound up being worth it in the end.
Except for the whole "brand new" part of that 2500. She had 200k when I bought her, but I love the 3rd gens and I'm gonna keep her around. I will tell you the Allison is a beast. I don't worry about it, it pulls everything I have great and I can't feel the boat behind me for the most part. Even my gooseneck trailer empty with the stock 68 felt like I was dragging anchor.
Been damn near 20 years since I heard a Ernest joke.. now I gotta subscribe plus lookin into either a Allison or a Randy’s transmission still can’t decide.
Just a suggestion for those doing major works, take the time to get under it and clean it BEFORE you do stuff. Makes a lot cleaner job and less extra work trying to keep crud out while working.
That's great advice, and I always forget until just after I make the vehicle unable to run. On this one I was draining the transfer case or transmission when I had that thought.

Instead of notching your transmission and adapter plate you could of relocated your coolant bypass kit to the 3rd rear side coolant plug, just take the bolt hole measurements have a machinest counter sink to allen head bolt holes and it will work on the side of your block.
I'm looking at the weld on the rear drive shaft at the rear pinion and that is some of the sorriest welding I've ever seen. I'm not real sure but it looks like there is a hole they left when starting the bead. If you did the welding my apologies but that shaft needs to be rewedded by a reputable shop. @@johnnybags87 Hey, no worries! As a 3rd gen I don't have backup cameras, sensors and all of that. With the CA kit I get to keep backup lights. Mine now works like a manual truck and its twice as good as it was before, but yeah its not great. I actually installed this last fall and at that time the ATS kit was still a thought and not a product. Not to mention I've heard all kinds of bad things about ATS transmissions and didn't want to be their guinea pig. CAC has been doing these for something like 20 years so I went with the company that has the most experience in the Allison world, and would go with them again in a heartbeat. Their customer service is top notch and when we had issues with codes being set, I shipped my truck to them and they took care of it as well as finished the last few things I hadn't. I made new friends and can't recommend them enough. KC even wanted me to call her when I got back home, knowing I was spending a week in Florida then driving home. She insisted I call her to let her know how things went, and we still talk today. That to me is absolutely priceless.
Thanks, but yellow piece of evil? I have over 10.000 trouble-free miles on this and can pull loads much easier than my stock trans. My boat is pretty close to 6000 lbs on the trailer and before I swapped this, I was at 2000 rpm pulling up the boat ramp. Now I'm at 1200-1400 rpm and it's not even breaking a sweat. I finally have a truck that can do what it should have been doing all along.
As a past inspector I can truly say on day 4 or 5 as a new guy I found 2 different items that were never inspection the way I did it and both were teaching item's 1 was aerospace and the othe was a military item so when you say inspection is it really a sample size or every 10 holes or or or. I'm not surprised! I worked in the auto industry for years and the number of bad products that made it all the way through with all parts scanned was amazing
Sorry I must have missed it but that scan tool plugs into the TCM? I'm getting ready to go this route with a 2nd gen all though not using CA Conv stuff.
Yes, but not the vehicle’s OBD port. CA has an additional OBD port and that’s what I hooked into. It’s only got a few pins hooked up so I had to go through all the steps since it can’t auto populate the vehicle data.

A walk around video is coming, but to give you a quick update I have been able to pull everything I've needed with this, and this is my daily driver as well so it goes from pulling a trailer on the weekend to driving around town, taking kids to school, etc. The very end of this video is after several thousand miles of driving it. I didn't want to put out a video right after I had it installed, which was about Thanksgiving last year. I've only made one change to the CA kit, and that was the hoses. I went with hydraulic hoses because I was seeing some leaking issues with the ones from the kit.
Thanks for preserving all this for us. Be forewarned though, if you take care of your truck, and it doesn’t turn to red dust, before you get all the good out of the truck Allison will probably have dropped support of that transmission. It’s happened before more than once. Tell that young fellow to mix some meat in with his ramen for more stick to the ribs. Take care and enjoy.
Haha!! My kids can't gain weight and I can't seem to lose it. Life's funny like that! I'm hoping I won't need too much support for the transmission. I don't haul heavy loads too often, so I'm really hoping I've got the truck completely over built for my needs which I'm also hoping means it lasts longer. I do take care of it and I'm hopeful it returns the favor.
Great video, now you've got a real towing vechile. I've always said if Dodge, Cummins and Allison would just get together and just make the Heavy Duty with this set up then you would really have something. Hat's off to you, you did a great job even with some of the set backs that you encountered when doing the install. You did say you were in TN? right. Were about are you located at, I live N of Nashville up in the Whitehouse area off of 31W. If your close by I sure would like to be able to stop by and check it out if you wouldn't mind. Well anyway great job and great video.
Thank you so much! I do think the stock transfer case will hold up. I’ve heard horror stories of the computer putting it into 4lo on the interstate so that may get some attention next. The first few years for the 6.7 seem to be the black sheep of the family. Everything is just weird and it was a transition so I think Dodge was scrambling to meet regulations and threw some parts together without as much testing as usual. I live in the Watertown area. Which 68 builder did you go with? I looked at several before going with the Allison.

I have always thought about doing this to one of my 01 dodge Cummings trucks but never imagined it would be such a project.

I went with CA because they offer the commercial programming that's supposed to be the same as what's in busses, box trucks, etc. that all go hundreds of thousands of miles hauling heavy. Much more than I'll ever do with my truck, but mine should run 1 million miles without a hitch.

Well done. I'm actually impressed

@@TheRoostersGarage really appreciate your response, not expected as I know it takes a lot of time!
I was thinking of commenting, "should have bought a manual truck..."
@@madman432000 Well I wanted a Mega Cab 3rd gen and this one came up for sale so I jumped on it.
ATS Allison conversion doesn't require grinding.
Our F650 rollback had a 5.9 / Allison 1000, it had 400,000 on it when we sold it, the cab and fenders were rough, but ran good, never had a trans issue, new spin on, drain and fill every 30,000, new sump filter every 90,000.
That's a few miles! I'll be keeping up on the maintenance of both so I get a bunch of miles out of it

I don't know what my power is at, but I have only done airflow and a tuner so I doubt I'm much over 500 if that much.
@Rooster's Garage you should be perfectly fine then. I've got big injectors, cp3, fass 150, and big compounds on mine and it tears things up so. I hope your build goes smooth for ya!! Enjoy the new allison it makes a awesome difference!!

I used a Ford Silhouette mounted on the Fender Where the stock 2/0 cable reached . Then a key hot to both terminals on the starter. No chance for voltage drop to the signal.

Nice i need that my 68 is starting to slip in 4th and 5th after i did a bunch of mods 375k on it now.
Contact CAConversions and they will give you a quote, and they will even install it for you if you want. It's a family run business and it's really some great people that work there. I can't recommend them highly enough.
I have 68RFE but seems to be pretty good for me. I have 190k on it so far. This is sweet.
Mine was pretty good up until 225k
The 68RFE is an ok trans just doesn’t do well when it’s a work truck or towing a heavy loads a lot. The Asian is as strong as an Allison but nowhere as smooth and doesn’t going hunting for gears in traffic.
@@mikewill1891 I am not sure why Ram is still offering both. I suppose the cost.
Lil guy has a mint tshirt!!!
I did a zf6 swap a year ago wish I could of told you you're going to have to take more of the block than you would ever think to fit a 6.0 starter.
I really don't like the Ford starter RIGHT UNDER the turbo - made replacing the turbo really suck. I've heard the new Ram trucks can be outfitted with an Allison and I wonder if the bellhousing can be swapped so I can go back to my Cummins starter
@@TheRoostersGarage I ended up doing a 2nd gen swap but drove it with a stock turbo and manifold for about a year, luckily these stock turbos are pretty stout so they should need to be replaced anytime soon, I still have my stock one for a backup.
@@cole1407 I upgraded mine but wish I would have stayed with the stock turbo. The stock ran better on the street than the bigger one
Personally I thing built 48re’s are better than an Allison but to each his own. Still a cool swap
I wanted to stick with 6 gears but yeah, this is just one option
Guy, I greatly appreciate you showing the video 💯 I feel bad you bumped your head some 20 times, I’m curious as to what was your total money spent ? but I give you a 100 in regards to effort, patients, and willingness! but I’m suspecting you blew your budget. Nonetheless thank you for the video. I know it’s been a year ago but I skipped across this, I just bought a 2K3 gen 3 , I’m looking to upgrade a few things.
Thank you very much!! The transmission was about $14k. Had I been able to source a used Allison for them to rebuild I would have saved a bunch
Looks good! No WAY I’d chop up the ear on my block… or chop the top off of the trans…
It was nerve-racking doing those 2 things, but there's so much meat everywhere it's not causing any issues whatsoever. They've been doing this for like 20 years with no issues, so as long as I follow their instructions, I should be good.
You should do an update video soon on the truck and how everything is holding up. I would love to do an Allison swap on my 3rd gen.
This already has 10,000 miles on it. I may have to do a walk around on it though and show all the mods I’ve done to it.
@@TheRoostersGarage Nice! A walk around would be cool.
I don’t understand why the 48re is a way better Tranmission and take more abuse?
@@johnhalter8317 6 speeds, no band adjustments, and the Allison is an industrial transmission the same as the Cummins is an industrial engine. The move to industrial means more durability

Love the video. Great info on the install and is much appreciated. Can I ask why you went with CA instead of ATS? ATS is plug and play with not grinding of the engine and you get to keep all your reverse lights, backup camera, sensors and stuff. Just curious if there is a reason why you did not go with them.
No need to answer OP, I've seen the other comments where you responded about the same question lol
@@johnnybags87 Hey, no worries! As a 3rd gen I don't have backup cameras, sensors and all of that. With the CA kit I get to keep backup lights. They use the neutral safety switch to know when it's in reverse and I tap into my harness. I think the 4th gen conversions are a whole lot smoother and they are working on refining the 3rd gen kit more. Apparently there is more demand for the 4th gens.

Look at some of the work ATS has done. I wouldn't buy parts from them.
I have 3 g56 6.7's and the exhaust brake doesnt work all that well on any of them. The one that works the best it won't stop working and sets a cel
Mine now works like a manual truck and its twice as good as it was before, but yeah its not great. There is a section of road I travel which is quite steep and unloaded downhill I still increase speed with the exhaust brake on. It’s about like someone scrubbing the brakes just a hair and keeps some brake dust off my wheels although not much.
That’s awesome! I’m working on a 2006 2500 and man it’s a lot of work haha
It’s a ton of work!
I’m 6 months in!! I rebuilt the motor went all out haha..I’ll post some vids when I am done.
This video is like a huge weight off my shoulders..finally a video on a 3rd gen I was so happy to see this
@@DanielFernandez-pg4zc I’m so happy to hear this! This alone was a huge project and I didn’t include rebuilding a motor in mine so I can only imagine how huge your project is. 4th gens are getting all the love now, so I’m more than happy to help out another 3rd gen owner. When I was researching my swap I didn’t see any videos detailing how to do it other than the CAConversions videos. I wanted to show where my headaches were to help other people swapping theirs out.
@@DanielFernandez-pg4zc Yes when you get them done post em up and give us a tag!!
Man, this is a lot of work for a dodge. But good on ya, you finally have a transmission that can properly support that Cummings.
Right!? An industrial motor deserves an industrial transmission.
You should’ve gone with the ATS Allison conversion
Great video i can feel your pain, once you got that yellow piece of evil up there!!!
@@TheRoostersGarage that was some serious work rooster!!!
@@Spinalcell Yes it was!
As a past inspector I can truly say on day 4 or 5 as a new guy I found 2 different items that were never inspection the way I did it and both were teaching item's 1 was aerospace and the othe was a military item so when you say inspection is it really a sample size or every 10 holes or or or. NO SELF INSPECTION
I'm not surprised! I worked in the auto industry for years and the number of bad products that made it all the way through with all parts scanned was amazing
They make a support for the back of trans bolts to transfer case I highly recommend because I have seen them crack I have it on mine

Awesome video man!! A lot of good content. I'm just gonna buy the 3500 instead and not have to worry about anything!!!
I think all the new ones come with the Aisin transmission now and the 68RFE is no longer installed. Don't quote me on that but I think that's what I've heard.
@@TheRoostersGarage
The new 2500's still come with the 68rfe trans. I was really wanting to get a new 2500 but once I found out that it comes with the 68, I'm deciding to go with the 3500 HO!! Even the 3500's with the standard Cummins comes with the 68rfe
@@stevenpeterson7234 Oh dang!! I really thought they would have retired the 68 by now. It's never going to last. They say the Aisin is a really solid transmission.

Will you be making a video driving around town/ interstate? I'm curious on the RPM's at 75-80 with the 3.73 and the Allison swap. Maybe one empty and one towing?
The very end of this video I’m driving around town and I’ve got the chapter marker things so you can go right to it. It doesn’t lock into 6th until 73 mph with the 3.73 but yes I can make a video with more driving around. I’m pretty sure its still under 2000 at 80
The 1k based on calibration has overdrives.
Hello buddy. Could you give us an update of how the conversion is working for you?
Maybe prison and cons and such.
I'm pulling the trigger soon on this conversion.
Want to make sure I'm as informed as I can be.
Thanks a million for the vid and any updates
A walk around video is coming, but to give you a quick update I have been able to pull everything I've needed with this, and this is my daily driver as well so it goes from pulling a trailer on the weekend to driving around town, taking kids to school, etc. The very end of this video is after several thousand miles of driving it. I didn't want to put out a video right after I had it installed, which was about Thanksgiving last year. I've only made one change to the CA kit, and that was the hoses. I went with hydraulic hoses because I was seeing some leaking issues with the ones from the kit.
@@TheRoostersGarage I'm subbed for the future video. Thanks for the reply and a huge thanks for the update
@@hey_youtubeim_back2159 Thank you for the sub. Good luck with your decision.
Thank you for the video. A few weeks to get this done seems reasonable. Anyone know if this conversion would work in a 2000 Ram Cummings 2500?
They have done lots of different years, and I'm pretty sure 2000 is one they've done
It looks like the right auto trans for the job, and you’ve taken the pains to do a good install, so best wishes for long and uneventful use.
@@carlcarlamos9055 Thank you very much!
Great video, now you've got a real towing vechile. On the transfer case do you think the stock one will hold up mine I had to fix a small crack from the tourqe that my new 68RFE that I replaced around 210,000mi on the original one. Mine is a 2007.5 I deleted everything when it hit 26,000mi and run a Smarty JR Tuner with the Middle Eastern Software, I've left it in the tow mode with all the settings set to the basic Tune.
