Hi there! Liron here 😁
In today's vid I'm showing you how I use wet-in-wet technique to paint BEES!
Similard to birds, funny enough, bees are another great subject - allowing looseness & a relatively easy pleasing result.
Their fuzzy texture also works really well with the way paint spreads in water.
Here are today's reference photos:

Colors are:
Yellow Ochre (M. Graham)
Neutral Tint (Daniel Smith)
Undersea Green (Daniel Smith)
Pyrrol Scarlet (Daniel Smith)
And time-stamps:
00:00 - 🙋♂️ Introduction
00:15- 🐝 1 - Wet-in-Wet
04:45- 🐝 2 - Wet-in-Wet
10:55- 🐝 1 - Highlights
12:28- 🐝 2 - Highlights
13:55 - 🎨 Learning From Mistakes
14:23 - 🙏 Conclusion
And as an aside - I'm slowly improving my setup here, and soon I'll have a proper front camera.
I also arranged things so that I can film everything together using OBS, making my work process much more effective & streamlined.
Good things to come!!
Looking forward to seein you in the next vid!

#watercolor #painting - Jak na to + styl
My friend recommended this channel to me. I'm super impressed. My whole problem is to find ideas... To work on and to grow on me. I used to draw so much and I loved it, but now I just feel empty and can't think of anything. And painting humans etc was never my thing. Heeeelp anyone, I rally want to go back to my favorite hobby 😅
I love it🥰 i adore the way everything flow in a very fluid process on not controlling things just letting the paint and water do the work . Love it 🥰 it gives a lively dreamy look that a super control rigid style doesnt bring to me
So cute. Thank you for your video
תודה רבה!
i like undersea green, nice wet in wet technique, thanks liron!
It’s a lovely green! Plus quite useful (:
I love painting bee’s! Awesome techniques! Thank you! 🐝
Love it. I like your teaching style. You're so natural; it's like being in your studio. You don't talk down to your audience. I don't think I've ever heard you say "you guys", so thanks for keeping it simple and personal. And also: your lessons and explanations are endlessly helpful.
Thank you 😊🙏🏼 Yes haha I try talking to you as if you’re right there with me! That’s the most fun way of communicating for me too (:
Jeesh, Francie. You're all abuzz about people saying "you guys". 🙄 Kinda weird how people talk to an entire audience on YT huh?
hahaha,, "Its not like that THING over there !" lmao :)
Great! The blobs really get transformed!
Love your instructions!! You make everything so special. Please don't be afraid of bees. It is the little things that keep the world going. Cheers!!
Super fun.
very smart :)
Enjoyed watching your bee tutorial. Reminds me to practice, practice new techniques.
Great Fun Demo looking at wet-in-wet techniques 👍🖌🎨🙌 Thank you Liron 🙏❤️🙋
I once felt something stinging my head while I was showering. It was a yellow jacket bee in my shower cap! so now I always check before I put it on, just like cowboys always check their boots for snakes Haha
I enjoyed your set up and the bee demonstration.
Great job 💕
🤔 To bee 🐝
🤔 Or not to bee 🐝
😂😀😂😀
Awesome demo , thanks Liron! Truly enjoy your videos. So keep them coming !!!
Thank you my friend!! Much appreciated 😁🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks, nice lesson Liron. I agree: I hate bees, badly breaking my ankle recently was 1/100th the pain of a bee sting. Last time I was in bed 3 days with a poisoned leg. However, I love the little fellas for saving our ecology!!
Oh my! 😨 Haha sorry about the ankle too! Is it recovering ok? 🙏🏼
@@LironYan I ain’t pushing fast recovery: beautiful spring weather, sunny apartment, plenty of paid sick leave, what else can I do but paint and draw, and make you lose it with laughter with a primary school joke on live chat?? I love it!!!!
Great lesson.
Quite an accurate background, very good proportions. The next step for whoever wants to take it further could be to go with acrylics over it and add details, however it's reasonable amount of work for a tutorial. I look sometimes , there's people like you that just pick up a brush and make everything so simple, I always find myself complicating things.
Haha, yep! No need to complicate (:
Get the main shapes of value & you’re good 🎨 Sometimes - the majority of details aren’t even necessary
Hi Liron! I have enjoyed all your lessons so much. I typically only use wet in wet when I'm painting a very loose background, because I haven't been able to control it. But you mentioned at one point (either in this video or another one I watched) that as long as you keep the brush moving, the paint doesn't explode everywhere in your wet in wet (I think "explode" was my choice of words, because that's how it always feels to me!) I experimented with this last night...and WOW! What an eye opener! Thanks so much for sharing all your knowledge. I've learned so much from you. Maybe soon I'll catch one of your live critique sessions and submit a piece. 👍
Thank you Louise! So happy you were able to pick up on that little nugget! 🙏😊
I have an entire vid dedicated to this tip here, if you want to dive deeper:

Nicely done thanks for sharing bro enjoyed 😊
great tutorial gonna paint some bees now
😁
Good video, the first is a bumble bee, the second a honey bee. I am a beekeeper and love bees, but at some times not so much...haha... I know how nasty a sting can be. Been stung by a bumble bee as well and that really hurts!
If a bee is fluffy, it's a bumblebee ?
I like bees, I can take them on to my hand and they don't sting me.
It’s okay Liron. I feel the same way about spiders.
Haha 😛 😨
crazy how i can imagine art yet cant draw it right
Two different skills! But once you develop the other you’ll be able to 😁
I really enjoy your instructional videos. Thinking about buying your course: frustration free watercolor. Approximately how many hours of instruction are included in the course?
Thank you Sheila! 🙏😊
The FFW course is around 4 hours and 20 minutes, with 26 lessons.
There’s also a bonus lesson of ~20 minutes, where you can watch a demo with me speaking Hebrew (with English subtitles) 😂
Let me know if you end up getting it!
LY, Good morning!
Have a great weekend Hank! 😁
You need to check your bee anatomy.
😂😂 Yeah I never looked too much into that haha
All insects and animal in general like me for sure. But I hate mosquitos and don't like wasps. Said that, liked the video.
PS: what about Kim Jung Gi death..? :(
Haha lucky for me, because at least they don’t like me too 😅 Poor Kim Jung Gi! We talked a bit about him in the livestream (I think it was before you joined), super young, it’s a shame.
I can’t believe you hate bees!😂
Haha they scare me! But I know for the most part if I don’t mess with them, they won’t mess with me.
And the way they go from one flower to another is kind of cute 😂
If it wasn’t for bees, humans would be in BIG trouble. The Bumble bee looks really good, but the honey bee on the flower is just a blobby shape.
Interesting statement, losing track of your subject while painting. I think I do that!
Enjoyed the tutorial on bees. BUT .... the box with you in the frame is too distracting. I have no idea why you think it is needed.
Haha it worked well in past tutorials! Usually when it’s front facing.
Once I get the 2nd camera properly set up we’ll give it another go.
And if it’s too distracting I won’t use it (less editing work for me 🤷♂️)
Disagree. Liron uses it to good effect, actually. And throughout most of the video, the box filled less than 1/6th of the frame, so I'm not sure why you're making this such a buzzworthy point.
I agree, it's not necessary. Maybe a front facing one and only 1/4 of what's there now, to make it more personal.
I disagree. I quite liked it! 👍😊 Lots of negativity in the comments these days.
I like seeing the artist in frame. To me it feels more personal. However the environments I feel that it works best is when people will green screen the rest of the environment (and the camera will be front facing).
