In my family...the ladies tend to run ... my grandpa raised his 6 kids on his own when my grandma walked out ....and then my sister walked out leaving her bf at the time to raise there boys ... I recently went and saw the boys and my heart broke I walked into there apartment and the dads room...he had a mattress on the floor and one dresser...then I went into the kids room and they had a nice bunk bed and there room was starwars theme ...the room was completely decorated and such ... I asked the dad why he only had a dresser and a mattress on the floor ....he looked at me and said I dont need much ..I have my boys and they are happy that's all that matters ........single parents are amazing

I met my daddy when I was 4. We lost mom in 2010, and in 2011 he suffered a devastating stroke. I prayed so hard lord dont take my daddy. God heard. He woke up and told the doctors when he was finally able to speak again that mom sent him back and yelled at him for trying to leave me. I can believe it!

Even while i was with my son's father i felt alone. I've officially been alone and raising my son without the help of his father since Feb (i've had my family). I love this song for so many reasons. I work full time, and after work i go home and spend with my son. I have family and friends that tells me i need to get out there that there will be someone for me. But I just can't bring myself to even think about it, and to even attempt to put myself or my son through that. Then i constantly hear the judging for being a single mom (not directly to me), if that is how people who don't understand the situation see me, how could i ever expect a man to see me any other way. Sometimes people don't realize that we can hear what's being said, and just makes things worse on single parents in general not just single moms. All those people that judge for what ever reason. Think about how you make that person feel before you talk, and think about who around you could be going through that situation that you're talking about and how badly you will make them feel.

No its not. My bil was raising twin 2 year olds on his own. Until he met my sister. Now hes married with twin 6 year olds, a 2 year old and an infant. She was the first to not run screaming upon finding out he had 2 babies. And treats them no differently from her bio kids. They were her first "born".
Any child is a gift of life whether its to you or someone else that can't have children of there own, I am a mother and I can honestly say my daughter is the most amazing thing that ever happened to me, I would never trade her for anything in this entire world, and if anything was to ever happen to her I would be devestated. To those parents who wished they never had children, don't put your children down because you are too incompitant to handle the way you raise your children.

I feel like this song can also apply to those of us who have had to take care of sick and aging parents from a young age. My parents divorced when I was 12, and with Dad gone, the house fell apart. My mom had 2 major strokes and a series of mini strokes when I was 15. Dad died when I was 18, 3 weeks after high school graduation. I'm now caring for Mom, who's 70 and has severe RA. My bro and sis give almost no help. She lives on her own, but I take care of all of her business, drive her to doctors, groceries, etc. I call to check on her 2x/day. I've yet to find a man that undestands, that's willing to put up with me going out there at least every other weekend (she's 50 miles away), deal with her calling me because she's misplaced the tv remote or because someone called her phone and hung and and she wants me to find out who. I don't have time to break down and cry or be pissed because my sibs don't help. The only thing that can matter is mom being cared for and happy, and if I have to give up my life to make it happen, so be it.

My brother's a single father, and I recently started working for him as a babysitter for my nephew. I'm going on 40 years old, but even I have to admit that just because you're older doesn't mean you're grown up. You can learn a lot from children. They show you how to laugh, be imaginative, be carefree, and curious. They're one of the greatest things God created. It's just a shame that some of them grow up not knowing one parent because they chose to be selfish. My nephew isn't at a loss of love, and there's no shortage of women in his life that step into the mother role for him.

the ending part of this song reminds me of myself. my girlfriend just got out of a highly abusive relationship both physically and mentally not only to herself, but also her kids. i've sworn to her i'll be everything that that bastard never was. he never helped with the chores, he never helped cook, he never helped her with the kids, he just expected her to do everything. he reasoned that because she didn't work and he did that it was up to her to do absolutely everything around the house and he didn't have to help with anything. and while she did agree that he responsibility WAS taking care of the house, there are times when even she needs help and gets overwhelmed and even so much as just taking the trash out or changing the or watching the kids would help immensely. but to him, playing his fucking games was priority #1. i refuse to be like that. there have been several times she's broken down because i've helped her out and she didn't expect it or just outright took initiative.

I met my daddy when I was 4. We lost mom in 2010, and in 2011 he suffered a devastating stroke. I prayed so hard lord dont take my daddy. God heard. He woke up and told the doctors when he was finally able to speak again that mom sent him back and yelled at him for trying to leave me.

I love this song! ... but it reminds me of my grandfather ... my grandma an him had 6 kids .. when the 6th one was 4 months my grandma literaly got up and left .. and my grandpa was left taking care of 6 kids he worked at the local mine would go to work with nothing in his lunch pail many days so his kids could have what they needed ! .. sometimes its not just the men who walk out .. but the woman .. and its sad .. but the parents who stay and take the responsibility is a hero to me !

this song reminds me of my mom she had 4 kids a 6 year old(my sister), 1 year old (me), and twin new borns (my brothers). she divorced my bio dad and raised us herself and my step dad came into my life when I was about 7 or 8 and hes been with us since (I'm now 19) and he treats all of us like his own.

Even while i was with my son's father i felt alone. I've officially been alone and raising my son without the help of his father since Feb (i've had my family). I love this song for so many reasons. I work full time, and after work i go home and spend with my son. I have family and friends that tells me i need to get out there that there will be someone for me. But I just can't bring myself to even think about it, and to even attempt to put myself or my son through that.
Then i constantly hear the judging for being a single mom (not directly to me), if that is how people who don't understand the situation see me, how could i ever expect a man to see me any other way. Sometimes people don't realize that we can hear what's being said, and just makes things worse on single parents in general not just single moms.
All those people that judge for what ever reason. Think about how you make that person feel before you talk, and think about who around you could be going through that situation that you're talking about and how badly you will make them feel.

No its not. My bil was raising twin 2 year olds on his own. Until he met my sister. Now hes married with twin 6 year olds, a 2 year old and an infant. She was the first to not run screaming upon finding out he had 2 babies. And treats them no differently from her bio kids. They were her first "born".

Any child is a gift of life whether its to you or someone else that can't have children of there own, I am a mother and I can honestly say my daughter is the most amazing thing that ever happened to me, I would never trade her for anything in this entire world, and if anything was to ever happen to her I would be devestated. To those parents who wished they never had children, don't put your children down because you are too incompitant to handle the way you raise your children.
When you have a baby to raise on your own the only option is to stay strong for your baby.. its sad that these babies have absent parents.. They didnt ask to be brought into this world... im going through this now and i tell you.. being a mommy is a blessing no matter the situation.. love this song!!!

I feel like this song can also apply to those of us who have had to take care of sick and aging parents from a young age. My parents divorced when I was 12, and with Dad gone, the house fell apart. My mom had 2 major strokes and a series of mini strokes when I was 15. Dad died when I was 18, 3 weeks after high school graduation. I'm now caring for Mom, who's 70 and has severe RA. My bro and sis give almost no help. She lives on her own, but I take care of all of her business, drive her to doctors, groceries, etc. I call to check on her 2x/day. I've yet to find a man that undestands, that's willing to put up with me going out there at least every other weekend (she's 50 miles away), deal with her calling me because she's misplaced the tv remote or because someone called her phone and hung and and she wants me to find out who. I don't have time to break down and cry or be pissed because my sibs don't help. The only thing that can matter is mom being cared for and happy, and if I have to give up my life to make it happen, so be it.

This hits home. I was staying with my parents when I had my daughter. Her dad turned out to be a dead beat. My mom told me I needed to get out and have a life outside my child. It was hard but I'm glad she gave me the little push

I listen to this song every time I need strength. Single mom of 3, left an abusive husband. It's so hard sometimes. And I totally relate. I don't have time for nonsense like dating. The stress on my shoulders, the burdens I bear with maintaining work, childcare etc consume all my life. Nor do I want to compromise myself by trusting another man.

This song gets me every single time, because it just reminds me of what I am going through right as we speak. The man walked out on me and my daughter when she was a baby and I just don't have time for relationships or anything really because I am working and going to school. I did meet someone who works on cars a few months back who didn't mind that I had a daughter and said she looked just like me. We are trying to make something work from a distance. You never know who God is going to put in your path. Sometimes you don't need more time, you just need someone who cares.

To all the single Mom's out there... I don't know how anyone who calls himself a man could walk out on a woman who is having their child. I know every situation is different, but you NEVER abandon a child. I got divorced and moved away from my 3 kids for a couple of years and it killed me, only seeing them a few times a year. Now I'm back and still divorced but happy to be back in their lives. I give single Mom's all the credit in the world for the job that they do. Never lose faith.

I dedicate this song to my sister Karen, she got involved with a real piece of dirt when she was pretty young, he got her pregnant, they ran off and got married, and they divorced when her son was 3. She's been through a lot. I'm happy to say that last year she got married again to a MUCH better guy, her son is graduating from high school this June, and in December she graduated from a top university with a bachelors degree in Social Work, and I know she's going to be great at it because she really truly cares about people!!!!! My brother's a single father, and I recently started working for him as a babysitter for my nephew. I'm going on 40 years old, but even I have to admit that just because you're older doesn't mean you're grown up. You can learn a lot from children. They show you how to laugh, be imaginative, be carefree, and curious. They're one of the greatest things God created. It's just a shame that some of them grow up not knowing one parent because they chose to be selfish. My nephew isn't at a loss of love, and there's no shortage of women in his life that step into the mother role for him.

Terri is really touching on an important subject here in men that do not take responsibility for children they helped to bring into this world. Regardless of the situation with the mother - the children have to be priority #1 and walking away pretty much says they never grew up and never learned to act as a man/father and take responsibility. This song really hits me. I was a singe father from the time my daughter was one until she was four. Then a friend set me on a blind date. After showing her friend my picture, she told her I had a daughter. According to her the next question she ask was if my daughter had my eyes.

This song truly has a life story. My life story. I am a girl at 10 yrs. old. My dad left my mom alone when I was a baby. My ife is ok now. But, my life could be better.
the ending part of this song reminds me of myself. my girlfriend just got out of a highly abusive relationship both physically and mentally not only to herself, but also her kids. i've sworn to her i'll be everything that that bastard never was. he never helped with the chores, he never helped cook, he never helped her with the kids, he just expected her to do everything. he reasoned that because she didn't work and he did that it was up to her to do absolutely everything around the house and he didn't have to help with anything. and while she did agree that he responsibility WAS taking care of the house, there are times when even she needs help and gets overwhelmed and even so much as just taking the trash out or changing the or watching the kids would help immensely. but to him, playing his fucking games was priority #1. i refuse to be like that. there have been several times she's broken down because i've helped her out and she didn't expect it or just outright took initiative.
