I was married for over 10 years, when I got home from work he was either sleeping, at his parents, or watching a ball game. I was like I didn't exist. I felt more alone when I was married than now!! We all settle to some degree... Sure you shouldn't have to settle for being abused and neglected but this whole notion of never settling for anyone other than mister perfect is not rooted in reality. When i stopped trying to be his everything, i became a woman with my own desires...needs. and self respect. I stopped trying to please him and found my own happiness.. it really floored him when i filed for a divorce and only took a coffee table, washer and dryer, especially since we had just paid off the land and house and two nice cars one month before i left.. was it worth it? Oh hell yeah.! Hes remarried and at least twice a week i tell him to stop coming to MY HOME IVE PAID FOR,.. and Go home to your wife. She needs you. I dont.

I have remarried to a man that really appreciates me treats me the way my first didn't, he goes the the store ( even if it's dollar tree ), he buys me something card , stuff toy lol , my favorite food , and he shows me something I DIDNT from my first, ITS RESPECT

It gave me the realization that it wasn't me, like he said it was. Abusers don't stop abusing, even when they get someone new. I've always loved Reba. She's a good actress. She's an amazing singer. Love all her songs. She's beautiful. And I love her red hair. Most men prefer blonds. I prefer brunettes. But I absolutely love redheads. Reba has everything going for her. Looks, talent, and, though I've never had the pleasure of meeting her in person, I'm sure she is golden on the inside, too. I remember hearing her first when I was a teen, singing, YOU LIFT ME UP, UP, UP TO HEAVEN. I don't know if that is the title of that song. But I heard it on the radio, first, when I was still a teen or young adult.
My grandmother had the pleasure of meeting her when she worked at a restaurant down South. She said her and the crew were horrible. They were loud, left a big mess and didn't leave a tip. But that was way back when Reba was probably first starting. She's probably a better person now.
I'm going through this right now. It's painful but I know that I deserve someone that treats me as "the one thing he can't stand to lose"! His loss... though I tried my hardest, it's no good when you're the only one trying! Life WILL go on!

I had 3 children with a man and we were very close and even he had a hard time getting anything out of me or telling what I felt most of the time. I was about 13 when this song came out, and it was one of my all time favorites. I played it over and over and over, screaming these lyrics. Coming back now at 25 I now know why I haven't been in a relationship (pretty much ever). queen told me I deserve to be treated like a damn queen. to not let someone walk all over me.

Reba I'm so sorry things didn't work out in your marriage. I think sometimes we get so wrapped up in our careers that we forget that we have a life out there. Narvel is a fool to have cheated on you but you are going to come out on top. I know it may not feel like it right now but you will see. Even if you decide not to start another relationship I think you will be just fine. You have tons of people that care about you even if you didn't have one red cent. I can say I know how you feel I was married to the person I thought I would be with for the rest of my life and after 27 years she decides she wants a divorce. I do still love her because she was the mother of my children. She did remarry after our divorce but it only lasted 3 years. I have not remarried and most likely wont because now I have found myself. I was really sick when she filed for divorce and I guess that's what hurt the most. I'm recovering and getting somewhat better as time go on. I do wish you all the happiness in the world.
I am so sorry about to read about your failed marriage she obviously didn't appreciate you. I too just got out of a long relationship with someone I thought was my world and he hurt me. but he's in jail now for breaking and entering as well as robbing the poor woman. I have been single since.
