- My Gen 1 Raptor was a great hold over vehicle until I got my 2022 Bronco, and I still kind of miss it. Here are my biggest takeaways from buying and owning a High Mileage Raptor in today's day and age.

Great info for first time Gen 1 buyers. We picked up our Gen 3 a couple months ago and decided to keep our high mileage Gen 1. We have owned it since 2014 (it was a loaded 2012 with 24k) and it has ~190k with regular maintenance and several shock rebuilds. I would drive it cross country tomorrow without a single concern.
Good ol' tried and true Gen 1! They're a beast, would definitely love to add one to the fleet again!
I have an 11 Platinum with the same drivetrain (6.2) and that mileage . It is like a new truck! Runs perfect, I maintain the fluids and stuff. Very hard to get rid of a vehicle like that. There are no expensive shocks on it .
Let me buy it lol
Yes، go buy it again for sure! The Gen 1 raptors are a gem and im actually looking to buy one soon!
Update: bought one and I’m loving it so far!
@@thechosen1-1-741 year later review?
Good times Offroad. The Gen 1 Raptor is the best looking of all the FORD truck line. Best factory built truck for all adventures. My 12 SVT is an awesome piece of kit
I'd have to agree, it has quite the nostalgic look!
My gen 1 just rolled 221,000 miles
Running Khumo 315 70 r17, corsa extreme exhaust, hardened plate steel bumpers, mishimoto radiator and trans cooler.
Dope video. Good to know. Glad you went through it and giving us the pros and cons. You definitely drove it like it was built.
Definitely buy it back I sold my 2012 and have regretted it ever since
Thanks for the info man. Especially with the looking at the shocks before you purchase it
I bought my Raptor with 165k and got the guy to sell it to me for 17.5 ... He didn't take care of it at all. I can list so the issues on request.
I drove it to Destin FL. First week of owning. From Houston TX. I needed to see what it could and couldn't do. All suspension was shot amongst other things.
About a few months later I drive it to California, made it with no probs. I have been replacing as much as I can, doing slot of preventative maintenance. Now my truck has 215k miles have been heck and forth from Houston TX to California about 8 times and is had never left my stranded.
Love my Gen 1 Raptor
Wow! Good stuff! Some trucks are certainly more beat up than others, but once those basic maintenance items are fixed, it seems that you really can't go wrong
How you doing brother I have 6.2 2010 with 127k, I’ve since changed the oil, transmission oil (had a leak I wasn’t aware about , kinda scared on the internal damage it did, but so far can’t complain , however when downshifting in neighborhoods it tends to pull a bit), other than that, differential oil changed, basic tune up, any tips you can spare ? Thank you
@@Mr.Tapia101 hey man doing good thanks!
New plugs, new coil on plugs, new coil wires (mine where very poor condition and pretty much all of them snapped off)
All fluids for sure, even brake and power steering, coolant.
Off the top of my head thats all I can think of. I have a spreadsheet of items that I'm working on
@@Mr.Tapia101 also, that bump in your shifting ... Look into the "Connector Assembly for 2009-2014 Ford F-150 AL3Z7G276D"
Apparently on our transmissions those are a hot fix and are usually out of stock. Also you can look up "driveline slip bump" fordmokoloko made a video on it ... Usually that when you accelerate and it feels like someone bumps you from behind.
Great Video !!!
Sad to see it go
Buy it back you can’t beat the 6.2. I love my 2013 . Upgraded the stock suspension and trailing Arms. It’s a dune killer now.
Great video! I got a Gen 1 from the dealership and made them put new shocks on that beast the total was around 2K. I got mine at around 90k for under 30k in all awesome truck the Roush full exhaust keeps the ladies moist! She gets shit gas ⛽️ mileage but I do baby her…what can I say
Good video, lots of useful information. i payed a premium for a gen 2, what i really wanted was a gen 1 because they seem more bullet proof and i just wanted to beat it up. Gen 2’s have been having a ton of problems.
Also, interesting u got a bronco, im tryna line a bronco up for my wife haha. They look awesome
Buy it back!
I just bought a Gen 1 with 241,000 miles for $14,000. It's not perfect but for the $$$$ it's amazing!
Picked mine up for 15k with 181k miles clean title
I had a Sasquatch Outer Banks and planned on going to a RaptoR around this time. Since you can’t order them and dealers can’t either, I opted for a Roush Gen1 until they make a BRonco. Since you can get the latest Sync/mytouch setup dropped straight into the Gen1 F150’s I think I’ll do that whenever it starts to get stale and I’ll remain set for a while.
Supercharged Gen 1's are the way to go! I'd get one that's supercharged if I were to do it all over again
How did you get a bull bar mounted to it, all the ones I look at say it doesn’t fit our trucks. Is it just a regular f150 bar that works?
Any other alternatives to dropping $1500 on Howe reservoir and steering pump? Especially as it gave out a year later anyway? I want to off road worry free
I am looking at Bronco Badlands or 1st Gen Raptor
What are your thoughts
I know the 1st Gen market is at the bottom and is a much better investment but I think the Bronco might be more fun
Just bought a 2011 Raptor with only 70k miles (110k kms) and it needs new front shocks and front axle seals. Im fine with that because the price was right.
Regular, non raptor f150s have electric assist power steering. Why they didnt go electric assist with the raptor is strange to me.
Awesome Video...I have a 2013 Raptor myself...where are your riding in the dunes at? We are interested in taking a trip and your spots seem fun!
Saweeet! These dunes were at Sand Lake, which is near Tillamook, Oregon!
My power steering went out the same day that I got my Raptor lol Donuts donuts in a parking lot.
Hahaha must be the Raptor curse!
1st gen raptors are badass. I will be selling my 94 wrangler and my 64 f100 to get a nice down-payment for one
How much did you get for it? I have the exact 2014 ruby red raptor?
Around $25K
thoughts? I can buy a 2013 Raptor SC 195k, body nice, shocks rebuilt 10k ago (midas 😕)...about $17k...AC is Inop (Compressor and a line had been replaced recently)... any thoughts if worth that?
Offer 15 bro since it has alot of miles and its a good deal they r built to last 💪
Damn either this high mileage 2014 super crew raptor or a 2014 tundra 1794 edition.
Depends on your use! I'm a Ford guy all the way though
@@jhmotorclub6916 I ended up getting a raptor. Another raptor pop up for sale and I got it, it’s a 2013 screw.
My crappy chinese fox shock blew at 24,000 miles...street driven only....so i bought a set of ranchos shocks for an f150....rides better now....and saved 800 bucks
The truck rear height stayed the same ?
@@daniellapointe2590 yes...shocks do not effect ride hieght
Donuts are dumb.. don't do em, save your power steering pump
Damn mine got 242000 😆
Are there any major issues you had with it
@@anthonyhawley5712 not really but the most expensive repair I did was for the alternator that’s really it
U can’t beat on anything w 150k and not expect to break something. Come on!
you should never hit full lock on any hydraulic steering system ever not a fault of the truck
This is the reason our economy is going to shit. Congrats on your new massive debt payment. I'll keep my 2013 Raptor paid off. Best truck ever.
People buying things = the reason our economy is going to shit?
Where did you get your degree in economics?
Building that truck employed auto workers. Financing it paid bankers. Using it to drive to work generated tax dollars. If more people bought new trucks instead of used beaters the overall economy would BENEFIT
Ya buy it back. I have a new Bronco 2.7L twin turbo. They won't last half as long. And when they break out of warranry..Ouch!
