The Israeli lobby singlehandedly outbeat the entire European lobbies in their fight against the Israeli participation. None of these are rumors but facts. Israel funds the EBU, so they get to DQ the Netherlands, plain and simple. Otherwise, we would have long been shown videos about these nonsense "allegations". I personally hold no grudge against the Israeli entry as it is one of my favorites, but imo Israel should've been the one DQd. First off, during your live broadcast, one of the presenters, kept implying that this incident was about physical abuse. Several viewers stated that the official statement from the swedish police was that the incident was about VERBAL abuse. That was really not good, this way rumours are spread.
Second of all, if this incident was a verbal abuse, I personally think that with the investigation still going on, a disqualification is indeed disproportional. I mean...ongoing investigation, what happens when the outcome is that Joost is innocent? This disqualification is setting a very scary example. Next year, another person can make a similar complaint about a strong contester . The EBU once again is showing that they are not capable of handling and communicating.

    Thats so unfair!!! 😔

  • @minskysfeedbackyianni1302

We don't know what this "inappropriate behaviour" actually amounts to & since (I think) most western countries follow an innocent until proven guilty principle within their laws, then it would seem that to effectively punish him before he is found guilty is "inappropriate". I can only see disqualification as being the correct course of action if the police have pressed charges or if EBU rules have been breached. However if the latter is the case then the public have the right to know the details of the incident as we are being deprived of an entrant that many wanted to hear & vote for & some paid to see perform.
Are Italy being sanctioned to any degree for releasing their voting stats for the second semi final? It may have been done accidentally (though we cannot be certain without a thorough investigation) but it still potentially has the consequences of building favour for themselves with other countries.
We already know that waging a war against another country is not against EBU principles enough to put a country out of the competition unless your first language is Russian! I was in favour of Russia being banned on principle but if that principle is not being applied evenly to all, then I believe Russia should be permitted back in. Though I would have given some of my votes to Ukraine as I like their song, I will not be doing so now as the EBU have proved by their lack of action in a similar situation this year that they are applying the rules unfairly.
To get back to the subject of the Netherlands, I think a much fairer way of dealing with the situation would be to have allowed them to compete with the understanding that if Joost is found guilty then the consequences would be the future banning of the Netherlands for a period of time & his placement in this final to be wiped from record & given to the next country in order, even if he were to win & ofcourse not to allow Netherlands to host the next competition either.
