Europapa is exactly the kind of song we need in these bad, dark times. It doesn't matter if it's your personal favourite or not, the immense joy and the message of unity he brought last night on stage was the highlight of this troubled Eurovision

Well, Finland is very similar in being an uplifting song & bringing joy to people in these dark times, even though most fans choose to ignore the fact for some reason... But happily, there are many people that don't ignore it, seeing the amount of views & positive comments the video has got.

We don’t “need” it; it’s a bit hyperbolic. Also - if he assaulted someone he deserves to be disqualified. He was a dick for insisting that the Israeli candidate had to answer a biased, silly, loaded question re other candidates’s safety. The people who have been acting up against the Israeli candidate are such self-righteous assholes…. I was born and grew up in Europe (Netherlands); but live in the US. I find it interesting how young people are so passionate about the Eurovision - when I grew up 80s/early 90s we could care less. I wonder when that changed?

I think any country at war or in some conflict should not participate. This avoids what happened in 2022 when Ukraine won by votes of solidarity, which I don't think is fair to the other participants who entered the competition, knowing they wouldn't have the slightest chance of winning. On the other hand, it prevents artists from countries that are criticized, such as Israel, from having their artists massacred and hated on social media.

It was adviced to not answer this question if she didn't want to and then Joost simply said "why not?". That was it he didn't say anything else. It is a bit unfair if that was the reason. I understand that some of the artists and some of the world don't agree with Israel being there, but as far as I know the artists respect the Israeli artist and even told her good luck(not all of them but some did), aside from their political views. For those that don’t know, most of this anti israel stuff he supports privately, as well as some of these demonstrators, let alone some ‘liberals’ is based on a massive lie. In short, Israel got attacked by terrorists in October 7th, had 1200 citizens brutally murdered by Hamas in house to house murder, and israel are now simply going in after their baby killers and fighting hand to hand combat to bring their hostages back. The reason the war is actually taking this long is that Palestinians use their own people as human shields, and israel is specifically trying to avoid human Palestinian casualties and just go after this murderous Palestinian Hamas group. They could have flattened Gaza in a day if that was an aim. So There is no genocide. That’s a lie perpetrated by the Arab narrative and taken on by leftist liberals as a victim mindset ideology. Sadly Gays get executed in Palestine, and Israel is the only place in the Middle East that is LGBT friendly so the world, especially the liberals seem to have gone topsy turvy actually, quite mad, supporting the evil Palestinian National movement which would just be an Iranian proxy of terror and death.

@@amitkoren948 i haven't read about this and I honestly do not know about him assaulting a woman reporter. And I honestly say from my heart there is no hate for anyone from me. On the contrary I believe that it takes some balls to perform at the Eurovision stage considering what is happening. Yes I have seen quite a few artists wishing her good luck so as I have said on my comment above, not everyone but some did, even if they don't agree politically that shows respect from artist to artist. Some people simply don't want to interact and that is fine as long as they don't disrespect, I am sure that this did not happen only with Israel but with other artists from different countries as well in the past, not talking artistically, but politically and if an artist chooses to see it that way that is their problem and I absolutely don't agree with this but what CAN I DO apart from speaking my mind and call smth that I see is unfair and not support this kind of behaviours? But about the Joost "incident"....what did you say happend and please enlighten me with your sources.

Israel could also use this as a promo/propaganda. Certainly if they win (see big win in 2nd sem final in Italy, if leaked results are correct) and they can organize it next year in Israel. I'm curious how they are gonna handle this. Maybe not organising it in Israel, because they can't guarantee safety (could be official reason, which isn't completely true), like it was the case for Ukraine? Unity isn't always that simple. Its not about haters. Its about being critical for a genocide. You would think that Israel should understand that right?. Its funny that these days being critical to Israel about the genocide you are suddenly a hater. I am sorry but then you are the issue. You are defending genocide.
