In an article by Tech Crunch, Destroyer2009 answered questions regarding why he hacked Apex Legends during the ALGS Tournament.
An OFFICIAL Update From Respawn About The ALGS Hacking In Apex Legends.
In the ALGS Regional Qualifiers, players within Apex Legends, including Genburten and Imperial Hal, have been HACKED mid-game to try and grief the tournament.
Season 20 of Apex Legends has had a bunch of cheaters and hackers, but the ALGS hacking is a whole different level.
Genburten, a Pro Player for Dark Zero, was hacked with aimbot and the ability to see where every enemy was plus their health.
Destroyer2009 was the hacker, who previously hacked Imperial Hal's lobby within Apex Legends.

@@0ffd You really don't know that unless apex released a statement already. Theres a higher chance it was the individual players who had their machines comprimised than that the hacker actually has any real exploit in Easy Anti Cheat or in Respawns servers.

He most likely has root access to servers. There’s multiple clips by others (Mando) and one of clips from Hal’s stream over a month ago shows him having 40 ish bots spawned on him. However, his teammates are also able to kill said bots, which leads more towards access to server commands than a bunch of people who all got compromised by one guy. He also is able to gift packs to people, which seems more like changing server data, rather than a compromised personal system. Not saying that is what happened, but reminds me a lot of force hosting on MW2/BO1/BO2 in cod.

Mostly we see hacks of people using hacks/cheats because they're shit at the game. But Destroyer set the bar high. Now someone will see what he did and go "oh i didn't think I CAN DO THAT". That's the scary part. He was using this to fuck with the top Apex streamers and troll them, and to probably show to EA and Respawn how easy it is for him to do so. Now someone might actually maliciously use this in the future even if he says no one can, it's not 100% certain.

Because he himself was the one that done the typing on Genburton’s PC, think about it, Genburton couldn’t type all of that while moving around. There’s literal videos of him talking about it with Mande all even before the algs

He’s also fully explained how he has the ability to shut down game servers etc, he’s doing all this because he’s trying to force EA/respawn to fix their game

He can hack on console. I was killed by him last season. He spoofed his PC and tricked the game into thinking he'd console and he will just aimbot the lobby or auto Sentinel the lobby

He technically didn’t hack apex the game. He hacked Hal and Gen. He most likely had direct access to their personal machines. The evidence that is available suggests that he sent them trojans and he had access to their pc long before the Algs. If he wanted to make a point or simply have fun and cause chaos, why didn’t he turn the game upside down by giving everyone these abilities.

That just can’t be true because he had the opportunity to ruin there career by not typing in the chat box and showing that cheat pop up but he chose to include those so there career wouldn’t be ruined
If he did he wouldn't have left obvious evidence Hal didn't do it.
Yet people still came for him. No matter the method, it did not look good for Hal, and caused animosity among players. Cheats are not a joke to anyone, if you want to help a creator out then there’s other ways of doing things.

Maybe they will actually do something about the widespread cheats going on in the game and not blatantly ignore it or allow it to go on. All this publicity sheds light on a huge problem in the game, and it forces the company to actually do something about it. So I am all for it

Overall, this is kind of funny. Some games are completely ruined by hacking and Destoryer2009 used it in the most public way possible for no personal gain, beyond the publicity.

With that level of skill you *have* to require payment, it’s just business.
Microsoft, google, and pretty much every company has a bug bounty program. Microsoft has bounties up to 250k USD, this is standard practice in cyber security, to get paid for your work.
The fact that he made sure that Hal and Gen were kept in the clear speaks volumes to me. With the payment thing, meh, they should have that kind of system in place. They're just cheap. It may help in ALL of their games if they would actually do it.
