Also, it is important to point out that NiceHash was âhackedâ at the peak of Bitcoin last bull market. Then they paid back the Bitcoin in the bear market.
Hypothetically if they werenât hacked but instead secretly sold the NiceHash userâs Bitcoin at the peak, then later bought Bitcoin for much less and then paid back the users in Bitcoin, they would have walked away with tens of millions of dollars. Linus addressed this issue in his latest WAN show tonight. Said he was unaware of NiceHash's founder's history, and that they will be careful in the future.
Still didn't delete the original video and addressed it in his podcast which most of his audience (such as myself) don't even watch despite the issues. @Joker M Indeed they do supposedly prevent ISPs from snooping
All a VPN is actually good for is to circumvent geoblocking and secrurity in open Wifi. It actually doesnt make you anonymous or safe from the government/police at all. If the government wants to spy on you they will i.e. with fingerprinting, etc.
If you want to be anonymous then you'll have to use Tor. And even with that your not 100% secure.
If you want a VPN that you can trust you have to set it up yourself.

Plot Twist: He's mining with nice hash in the background
This isn't all they've done, there's also a bunch of other stuff:
- Nicehash recently claimed (falsely) that Phoenix Miner, a well known mining software, was malware, and said to use their own miner. The miner was pulled because of Mega's new policy regarding mining software, not because of malware. They also did a similar thing in the past with Claymore Miner.

His channel has also done a few videos with incredibly clickbaity thumbnails that were effectively pointless. The one that got me the most was one titled "How Nvidia gave consoles the middle finger" or something to that effect. It was basically stirring the pc Vs console crap and literally explained nothing on the topic nor added anything to the conversation. It wasn't even a sponsored video. It sounds like a minor thing but it's these little things that have lately rubbed me the wrong way about LTT's channel.
@samsong samsong This just shows how clueless you are, if it wasnt profitable people wouldnt be doing it massivly. Pretty much every miner will optimize (mostly undervolt core and OC memory, it literally takes 2 mintues to do it, you dont have to be an "IT professional") their GPU for efficient mining, so in the end mining becomes less of a workload for GPU than gaming which boosts your core frequency way past that any reasonable miner would do. Also keep in mind that while you re gaming, your GPU load is going up and down all the time as you enter loading screens/alt tab to something/if you cap your fps... so your fan speed and temps are all over the place compared to a steady temp/fan speed that mining will do. A graphics card isnt a fucking car and doesnt have any moving parts so it works just as fine after 6 months of mining as it did brand new, at most you just have to replace thermal paste. Also most modern graphics cards will give you 2/3 years of warranty and there is no actual way to tell if a GPU mined or it was used for gaming (not that mining is illegal) so you re just talking nonsense.
At the time of writing this you can earn 9-10$ a day mining ethereum with an RTX 3080. In 3 months you can make your money back and you pretty much got yourself a free graphics card at the very least.
This aged well XD
After seeing Gamers Nexus' video covering LTT's multitude of inaccuracies, bad review methodologies, questionable sponsor practices, an excessively rushed production schedule, and messed up behavior, this video explains quite a bit.
LTT has made into a few thunderf00t videos for hyping scientifically-questionable vaporware products. They're a good source for info about computer hardware, but should be taken with a massive grain of salt when they venture to other tech areas, especially with sponsored videos.
I always found his content too simple and lacking in detail, but I like the guy and occasionally he posts something on a topic I hadn't looked into, so I stay subscribed. It's the quickest way to get to a basic understanding (like a wikipedia intro). Of course later I usually find out half the video was bullshit, but that doesn't matter because I got the right keywords out of it regardless.
For example if you tried to look up some of the keywords in his pseudoscience videos you'd invariably end up watching TF tear that nonsense to shreds, so some good comes of it in the right hands, even though most don't ever bother to look in more detail

Linus Tech Tips fan here, have been watching them for years, but still disappointed with how they responded. Linus skims over the founder's background in the WAN show, and they haven't added this information to the nicehash sponsored video, which is still up. 100% agree with Coffeezilla here that users have a right to know that a guy that made botnets is behind the software they are about to let run on their PC. You know what the problem is, it keeps happening, they paint themselves in a great picture and how they can't be bought, but this is literally that. And given their resources, this shouldn't be the case at all.

If he had an ounce of integrity he would return the money he was paid for it, remove the video, and cut ties with the company completely.
The fact that the video is still up is evidence enough that even though he's acknowledged it, he is still willing to make money regardless if it may or may not put the security of his community in jeopardy.

But if they continue on the same path, then crucify or abandon them depending on your personal preference
doesn't excuse not doing proper research into a product you're shilling to your viewers.
@@HappyLarry. "a person selling products on the internet? That person is shilling!!!!!! They don't deserve any money" đ€Ą
This was the most ironic viewing experience ever. You mentioned nice hash and i was like oo shit i forgot i mined with them before years ago so i reinstated my account to check where it has gone and then i hear in the background after updating my password with them that there elite hackers that steal password data and bank account info :/ looks like ima do a reset today haha
I think most important to mention is that you will spend more on electricity that you will make from mining unless you happen to live in an area with free or close to free electricity.
Here from Linus Tech Tips WAN show. lol
I paused to try to guess, the second layer is the cost of mining crypto, it's overly excessive on power, burns through parts if U don't have an adequate cooling system and a decent rig is north $20k
Edit: oh damn I would never have picked that, guess I gotta research founders as well, thanks coffeezilla, Ur work is truly brilliant
I am a massive Linus fan, but this video was very well done
why are you a linus fan? he's a company at the end of the day and doesn't care about you
@@FrankieZSTM because his IQ has 2 digits. He needs an idol in order to absorb information, crappy information btw.
@@felipewerner6670 what the? Are fans not allowed to enjoy entertainment? Yes, I agree that there are much better, more informative tech youtubers out there, but calling those who enjoy something you donât âstupidâ, is just childish.
Linus is the OG. Haters will always be there with their unhappy lives.
@@henrykwieniawski7233 Gonna cry?

"they have their ways of talking around this" haha, sums up crypto in general.
What a excellent opening! đđ
I look forward to these videos every day man lol
