Leupold VX-3HD - 0.28 MOA rifle scope!

- Today we take a look at this scope from Leupold - the VX-3HD 3.5-10 x 50 CDS-ZL

This is a VERY accurate scope with extremely clear glass. We shot 1" and below groups at 200 yards today (best group was 0.56" at 200 yds, or, 0.28 MOA!). We used several types of ammo, and our shooting platform is the MAUSER M-18, a rifle highly recommended by Gun News & Reviews:

I just bought the vx-3hd 3.5-10x40 with the illuminated reticle. My first expensive scope lol definitely worth money. So far very nice and clear can't wait to pop some deer this year!

Yes, love those Mauser’s, and the Sauer’s, very nice. I have only found them around $650 ish and up. But thats me. I was looking at 7-08’s and .308’s. Maybe a year or 2 ago. That shot great! Those were some groups for 200yds.! I will never see any shot that long. Lol Guess its Fed. for the win. 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
I’m using 143 grain eldx bullets for my 6.5 mossberg patriot creedmoor just bought the luepold 3HD can’t wait to test it
All I’ve ever used for elk hunting is the Federal premium 130 grain. Never more than one round per elk.

My A-Bolt .270 absolutely LOVE’s Federal 130gr soft points! Sub .50 MOA groups. I tested a bunch of the high end loads and the plain Jane “cheap” Federals grouped the best! It’s my whitetail gun and the deer hate it! 😊

You CAN'T tell anything with 1 three-shot group. You need three 5-shot groups OR five 3-shot groups, the standard gun magazines use. I was shooting with a friend who was using open sights on a 308 M1A. His first 3- shot group at 600 yards was 1/2 inch!!!
i do that with my Mosin-Nagant all the time with the right ammo!
Federal just makes solid ammo.
Nice video. As a newbie, I'd like to know typically how many shots people use to measure the grouping? Three shots? I am going to zero my red dot and test my carbine at various distances this weekend.

You might want to check the color saturation on your video.
What is difference between the vx3 and 5?
Different brands of ammo same grain will not shoot the same. Have to use to same brands and grain.
Where is the rifle range?
What height rings are those Backcountry rings? High?
They must be. The mediums hit the power ring on the base section of the mount on a VX3.
I'm still pissed at Leupold, for allowing the sale of their excellent Alumina scope covers, which still state "Reduced cost to fit your earlier production scope", and for well over a year, their Custom Shop has been closed. And I have expensive covers and an older scope sitting here, reminding me of their poor customer service.

@@drdrake63 With respect, kind sir, if you were to spend over $200 for a quality accessory from a reputable company with the expectation they would stand behind it, only find they had ceased doing so, and no recourse, I would not like to see your reaction. Of course, this is your wonderful channel, and if this detracts, by all means, it will be removed.
@@happyhome41I have been collecting rifles for 60+ years and have more leupold scopes them most big box stores and they are the very best scope on the US market for the price and their warranty IS the VERY BEST! Of the hundreds of their scopes only one had a problem and it came in a rifle I bought used and they replaced it with a new one no questions asked! They are NOT perfect if you want Perfect then you couldn’t afford to buy one!
@@edwardabrams4972 You miss the point. They sell parts that they assert can be fitted by their custom shop, and since COVID, they no longer provide the service. So I have expensive covers unable to use. They took my money and failed to provide the promised service.
I have done that with iron sights on my SKS ! Surly you can do better than that 😁!

3-round groups are not statistically relevant. 5-round ones are. This test is invalid.
for a hunting rifle they are quite relevant. for my precision rifles i do ten shot groups.
