- What an enormous aircraft! Watch as perform a rolling departure from runway 18 and lift off to the South before turning West! We needed every inch of runway space to get airborne! Fantastic Rolls Royce Trent 900 engine sound as we slowly climb higher and higher! Listen for the two cabin announcements: one in German and one in English! There are actually 3 total A380's in this video: one taxiing behind us about to depart for New York City, one which had just landed on Runway 25L in the distance and the one we're flying on! You can also see an Airbus A330 from Air Canada and Lufthansa waiting in line for takeoff! Notice how the inboard engine nosecone is painted yellow, while the outboard engine nosecone is painted white?!? Unusually warm weather in Frankfurt today as temperatures reached 86 degrees Fahrenheit/30 degrees Celsius! Excellent flying weather! Gorgeous green countryside below! Excellent service on board! Look at that wingspan! Filmed from the Economy Cabin on board Lufthansa! Flight 462 to Miami. 5/22/14.

The joy of powerful engines + economical airbus FLEX takeoffs...those trents aren't even trying
I can never take flight for granted! What a glorious feat of engineering this airplane is!
Great view of those massive engines, the A380 is definitely an aircraft I would like to experience soon! Great video.
Glad you liked the view! I hope you get the opportunity to fly on one sometime is it is truly a huge aircraft!
Love the sound, been on A380 6 times to Dubai, the King of the Skies......
That glorious sound of the engines spooling up... Music to my ears.
+Karebu219™ Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment!
[GD]
I'm amazed at how quiet the engines are, given the size of the plane. Nice video!
Yeah, it's truly an engineering marvel! Glad you liked the video! Thank you for the comment!
It's amazing that these planes ever get off the ground! Great job!
+Niklas Enblom Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Sitting in front of the engines makes you realize how wide those wings really are!
Absolutely the wingspan on this jet is incredible! I'm still amazed how it gets airborne!
Nice video, I have flown in a Lufthansa A380 from Frankfurt to Narita, Tokyo and back. Very comfortable quiet flights with great individual seat space and entertainment, and good service, even in economy. Fabulous aeroplane!
I agree on all counts! I hope to visit Japan someday like you! Glad you liked the video so much! Thank you for your comment!
Great footage! Those engines look massive - more so from the first level (ground floor, whatever it's called :) !
+Premium Flyer Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the comment!
boy, what a monster!!! Love this stuff...
Antonov 255 is a monster
Lovely video: sounds pretty quiet too. Well done .
+07willows Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the comment!
Credit where credit is due!
Wow, amazing video! That's the slowest climb I've seen!
FlyingWing92 Yeah, the A380 certainly takes a while to climb due to its size! Glad you liked the video! I appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Very quiet takeoff...engines sounded very powerful.
Yes, the A380 is surprisingly quiet, but the engines must be quite powerful to lift this large aircraft off the ground!
Love that in flight engine hum.
A clear sound of engines humming and whirring like at 3:11
czcams.com/video/j2_hkgzytcA/video.html
A powerful start, i like it very much
Great video.☺️
Absolutely awesome! I've watched this 10 times & it's still not enough :-) Love it
Well, feel free to watch it as many times as you like! Glad you liked it so much! Thank you for your comment!
7:00 Good to hear Sweep (from Sooty + Sweep) enjoying his retirement and seeing a bit of the world.
man that is beast!
I like the new engines Airbus is using , their A320 and A321s are noticeably quieter than before aswell
+FordCapri Driver Yeah, they're not bad at all! I like the loud engines too though!
+Mah584jr HD Aviation Me too but after a few hours it gets annoying haha
The Pilot is hardly running those massive engines. With so much wing area for lift you don't have to push them very hard at all. She's a beautiful piece of engineering no doubt! Below is the some info on these awesome engines:
The Trent 900 family powers the Airbus A380. It comes in two thrust ratings for the A380, 310 kN (70,000 lbf) and 320 kN (72,000 lbf) but is capable of achieving 360 kN (81,000 lbf).
It features a significant amount of technology inherited from the 8104
demonstrator including its 2.95 m (116 in) diameter swept-back fan which
provides greater thrust for the same engine size, and is also about 15
percent lighter than previous wide-chord blades. It is also the first
member of the Trent family to feature a contra-rotating HP spool and
uses the core of the very reliable Trent 500. It is the only A380 engine
that can be transported on a Boeing 747 freighter whole.
These Trent’s are better than the EAs!
Sweet !
a380 is a wonderful huge quiet plane
It is indeed!
Magnifique !
Gérard Rey Merci!
Awesome video
Yeah, this plane is huge! Glad you liked the clip!
Did anyone stop to think that the flight out of FRA airspace may have been instructed to operate within certain height limitations rather than thinking the aircraft is the issue or it's underpowered or it's going to stall or it doesn't make the right flavour of ice-cream...?! That type of departure is very common at airports where there are multiple runway / high departure and arrival numbers.
Ohhh Ya !!! Thannnnnnnkkkkk Youuu for sharing !!!!!!!!!
don't get hypnorised by the turbines :D
Wow, SLOW climb 🐢 !
The plane was probably close to maximum take off weight with a full fuel load and the pilots were being a little cautious as the temperature at departure was moderately warm, so they did a cruise climb also for the best fuel economy over the 9+ hour flight to Miami
Heavy beast
Man I love the 380....when I flew in it with Singapore, most airliners if not all kind of throw you back in the seat on take off. Not the 380, it's so heavy and takes a little longer to get going, you can barely tell you're moving!
Also stopped right there in Frankfurt. Hope to get to fly in it again someday.
It's a big bird! Glad you enjoyed the takeoff!
Reduced power takeoff!
can't get over how quiet they are!
Yeah, it was quite interesting how quiet it was! Only the 787 is quieter in my experience!
***** I don't like quiet planes. Why because you don't know if those jets are working, hehehehehehe. The 747 sound for me I like the best. For being outside the 707 sounds the best, hehehehehehe. whew are they loud indeed. Besides air travel today is a pain in the ass. I now like to go by train, and have good food, seating and a lot of relaxing involved without all that damn security crap.
@@Daveyo747 personally i don't care if it was loud or quiet as long as it has the buzzing sound like in most Rolls Royce engines
he was so heavy on his way to the clouds
+AgentSteveSV Videos Yeah, it's a massive aircraft for sure!
The rate of climb is painfully slow.
That's for sure...
Michael Qian That depends how heavy the plane is taking off, ive seen a380's making sharp climbings
Michael Qian A380s can climb almost vertically , but for passengers comfort all airlines they decide to climb steadily. Personnaly I dont like the vertical climbing.
xmac I think its just the weight this thing can take off at over 1 million pounds
xmac any empty aircraft can take off near vertical. This plane with passengers will and can not. I have been in fully loaded 777-300ERs and 747-400s and they are much more potent than this thing.
nice
+Daniel Capo Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Whoa! What a slow climb!
Yeah the A380 certainly takes its time getting airborne! It's so massive!
there was a lot runway left at the point you got airborne... nice vid
Yeah, I suppose it wasn't a super long takeoff run! Glad you liked the video! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
of course...nice video of a USA-Bound Takeoff on RWY18..... i like the takeoff at KMIA also! keep it up!
Thanks! I always keep a steady eye for your videos too! You've done some great work!
Contrary to what one might expect, the A380 is not particularly demanding about runway length and it can take off basically from the same runway lengths of an A340 or 777, and usually less than a 747. In test flights, the A380 successfully took off from runways as short as 2200 m (albeit not at the MTOW, of course). If that were the only problem, most of the world's international airports could accomodate it. However, pavement resistance, room for taxiing maneuvers and on the apron (especially because of the very large wings) are another story, and they're usually the reasons why the A380 is not approved for regular operations in many airports with long runways.
WOW On board the MILLENIUM JUMBO JET I would like a ticket FRANNFURT-ZURICH
Lufthansa said, yeah we'll take 20 of them
just seeing this massive beast makes you wonder how on earth does this massive piece off machinery even get off the ground? let alone fly hundreds off feet in the sky
I agree! It's truly amazing that this aircraft flies! The wingspan is rather enormous!
***** yes but the one topic that i always think about with aviation is concorde and how i wish it would fly again
the part I hate about leaving Germany knowing that I am having to come back home and go back to work . sure miss my inlaws .nue to dfw LH 438
What a massive aircraft. 30 sec. in and I find my self wondering, how in the world is this thing going to get off the ground? Breakfast, dinner, and 19 flight attendant's? Wow.
Could you tell me approx. how many passengers were aboard? Another incredible video from HD Aviation!!!
Thanks,
Walter
I wondered the same thing when I was on board! It climbs very slowly too! Lufthansa does an excellent job when it comes to service! The flight was mostly full, so I'd say around 400! Glad you liked the video so much!
Powerful engines and the magic of aerodynamics. That's how!
Das war ein Take off run von allerhöchstens geschätzt 2700 bis 2800 m. Die 18 ist aber 4000m lang, also wirklich nicht zu lang, sondern normal.
Yes, this flight was not completely full and the takeoff was not extremely long as you say!
great video...what type of camera and what have you mounted the camera onto for such a steady shot?
I use a Sony HDR-CX100 but I didn't mount it on anything! Just braced my arms against the wall! Glad you liked the video! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Keep the name and picture. It's unique.
Dream to see live landing and takeoff of A380. As our country Pakistan airports don't have capability. We are forbidden to see small crafts at airport by building 2 stories tall walls around. You tube is also banned Thanks for sharing nice video and thanks to proxy service.
Glad you liked the video! I appreciate you going to all the effort to watch my videos! I hope you get the chance to see the A380 some day!
Yes it is for security reasons.
I've never seen an A380 landing or taking off, but I've seen a Concorde landing. It was many, many years ago, but I'll never forget it. Absolutely beautiful, it landed like an eagle catching some small prey on the ground.
Concord flights are banned due to fatal acciedent
Safdar Karim, no, not really. After the Air France crash near Paris, flights were banned for some time, but later resumed. Concorde was taken out of service because it was uneconomical, made huge financial losses for AF and BA, and they had long wanted to get rid of it. Now it would be impossible because all remaining Concordes were either scrapped or converted to museum exhibits, they are not airworthy, there are no more spare parts and no more mechanics with the expertise to put them in flying condition again (nor is there anyone willing to pay for it). Unless there is some amazing breaktrough in fuel or propulsion technology, supersonic passenger flights will always be uneconomical and unfeasible.
Ive never seen either much less flown in one.I m just going by the vids. lol.
Ray Hansen Fair enough!
Airbus A380-800 Takeoff From Frankfurt Germany
Were you sitting on the top or bottom deck of the aircraft?
Awesome video!! why is one nose cone yellow and the other white!!? Is it to match the livery ?
Glad you liked it! I thought they were both the same color! I've seen it on a 747 where there is different colors! Not sure why they would be different! Thanks for the comment and good question!
***** Its so you can differentiate which engine is which. Outsides are white, insides are yellow. They also have a different spiral by the way. Unless your a mechanic like I am, in the business you cannot really tell unless you know what you are looking for.
Daveyo747 ph wow that's col!!
***** no problem!! thanks for the reply!!
Im impressed by the brains it took to make this plane. However it is hilariously underpowered. Curious, is the upper deck economy class as well, or first class?
xTomcatsForeverVF84x The upper deck is Business and First Class!
xTomcatsForeverVF84x It is not underpowerd. They fly over corwded area, thats why they dont use full power. Plus Lufthansa does not even use fullpower to accelerate to safe fuel and to make the engines last longer.
2:55 What's up? Bem! Vai trabalhar, vai? lol
É mesmo, eu não tinha notado... Hehehe! Brasileiro é uma praga mesmo, né? Bem, como dizia Ru Paul, "you better work, bitch!' :-)
That silent buzz saw sound I do not like... Hmmm. Still very good shot!
The engines are a little quiet, but that seems to be the direction aviation is headed! Glad you enjoyed the scenery!
Yeah, when you purchase your tickets they should have a "Epic Sounding Flight" and a "Silent Flight". I loved when BA switches the 77-200ER with the 300ER on the Rio - LHR route, but the only draw back was how silent the engine was during takeoff :(
Yeah, the GE90's are much quieter, though I do love the spool up sound!
The noise from Trent's engines are pleasing to my ears
Damn! Row 58 and the seat was still in front of the wings??|? Or does the count continue after the other floor's seats?
The rows on the main deck start at row 50!
***** Just booked mine with Qantas and got seat 48a which is the exit row and first seat in economy. Good view right in front of wings :)
Slow climb is right !
Dave Edmonds Yeah, it's a big aircraft!
What engines are on this bird?
Rolls royce trent 900
well i saw MAS KARGO there!!
hum lets mosey into the "No entry" lane at the beginning of the tape? I wonder where that lane is going. Does anyone know?
Can you compare which windows are bigger? Airbus A380 or Boeing 777-300ER?
***** The A380 has larger windows overall!
+Mah584jr HD Aviation, but both smaller than the 787's windows, which are said to be the largest current ones. Not sure about the A350.
Be glad you got to ride one. As fast as they came into service they will be going out. 8 year tare downs are showing multiple micro fracture in many of the wing components. Airbus stopped making them this year due to cost and lack of demand. By 2030 they will be gone.
The newest ones have only just entered service. They'll be around for 12 - 15 more years
Which seat did you had?
58A!
Did you have a nice view from the window in row 58? Is row 58 okay? I just booked my flight in LH A380 and I took row 58 ;-)
This is row 58! I think the view is great!
*****
Thanks :-)
I wonder what the maximum cruising speed of the A380 is with the Rolls-Royce engines compared to the same aircraft with the Engine Alliance (GE/P&W) GP7200 engines.
Not sure! I'm no technical expert! Perhaps others may know!
The same. However when fitted with 4 Trent XWB-97s, it will be far more powerful than GEs or P&Ws when it comes to efficiency..
AdMiRaLeDpIeTt Thought Trent XWB 97k was for the stretched A350-1000?
markyyyyyyyy321
Trent XWB is fitted in the A350, let's find out if they released the Carbon Titanium version of XWB.
AdMiRaLeDpIeTt yes I know Trent XWB is the sole engine for A350, but there are more than 1 variant of the A350, -800 -900 and -1000. And the latest RR XWB 97k I thought was for the -1000
I'm fairly sure all A380s are the same size. I don't think this is a particularly large one.
I wish to ride this plane, but there is no a380 in the Philippines XD
thats nice one
How often do you travel?
Victor👌 It depends! I don't travel for business! Right now probably about once every few months!
Were you flying back to MIA?
Yes, I was!
I see MasKargo
such a slow climb rate...?
How about a Gp7200 vs Trent 900 comparison???
DJRosco82 I've yet to fly on one with the GE engines! Hopefully some day!
+Mah584jr HD Aviation they are not GE engines... Just some unknown jackass company building a powerless turbine
+Atharva Bendre uhhh... UNKNOWN? I don't think so pal... Check your sources... How about it's TWO of the three biggest engine makers IN the world in Pratt and Whitney and surprise GENERAL ELECTRIC (as well as two other big [and some smaller] partners for components in MTU Aero & Safran) in the world getting together to create an engine with 74,735 to 81,500 lbf worth of thrust!! EA was formed in 1996 just to make engines for the new high capacity long haul planes like the cancelled B747-500/600. And guess what your "not a GE" engine is based around??!?!?!? A GE90-110/115b core with a Pratt and Whitney fan! So it is very much so a GE engine, and a Pratt and Whitney engine...
+Mah584jr HD Aviation may I humbly ask you check out my page? I've uploaded a video with a Trent 772b takeoff and landing on Hawaiian!
How quiet is this plane?
Trumpeter31 Rather quiet I'd say!
+Mah584jr HD Aviation
It's very loud you have to wear headphones or your ears explode
+E I N S lol
+airplanedude It seemed that way to me also. Angle of attack is low.
is that the Rhein at 6:14?
No the river is called Main
The reihn is in c
is in cologne and is not going throw frankfurt
+David Gtad Of course, thank you David. I was forgetting my geography.
If you are not from germany theres no need to know which river is going throw which city
I think it's the Main.
jesus this thing just does not want to climb
Another one of those titles which uses an adjective inflationary. What is so "Massive" on that takeoff?
a380?
but the Trent 900 is about 40% smaller than the EA GP7000 which is a far better and more reliable engine for the A380.
+Brian Su 40% smaller? The Trent 900 has higher thrust rating than the GP7000, and the triple spool architecture requires less maintenance. If The GP7000 is the better engine for the A380, then Emirates wouldn't have switched to RR for their recent massive order.
+raykrislianggi - AniMusic Go speak with an Airbus engineer and get their opinion. The Trent 900 always gives problems. It is rare that a flight would complete without issues like fuel pump failure, which is a very common occurrence. Trent also takes longer to cool down. It it has had more issues in production too, e.g. Qantas Airways flight 32 and today's Malaysian Airlines flight 2
+Brian Su You're still bringing up Qantas flight 32 as your argument? Recently, a BA GE90 burst into flame due to uncontained failure and injured over 10 people. Should the failure happen mid-air, there's no guarantee that the plane would even make it back to the airport with the intense smoke potentially filling up the cabin. No one was injured in QF32 and the engine didn't catch fire. About a week ago, there's smoke coming out of JAL B737-800 CFM56 engine no. 2 and entered the cabin, two passengers had minor injuries and one passenger was seriously injured. A few years ago, GEnx-2B on a 747-8F shut down mid-flight due to icing. GE and P&W uncontained engine failures killed hundreds combined in the past, while no RR turbofan caused a single fatal crash since their first run over 50 years ago. If you bring up engine reliability as your argument, then history's not on your side. If you're talking about maintenance, then I'll remind you again: *three-spool architecture is simpler to maintain* and is *lighter than two-spool architecture*. Try asking Emirates on why did they switch to RR for their 50 new A380, I'm sure they have some good reasons. And try asking Airbus why they chose RR as the sole engine supplier of the A350, A330neo, and A380neo. I don't feel like someone claiming the Trent 900 is 40% smaller than the GP7000 knows what the hell he's talking about anyways. Hell, I don't even know what that means. I'm tired of seeing GE fanboys whining in every RR-powered airplane videos on CZcams as if GE engines are made by the gods.
GE90
Nope
RR Trent 900
Jack Frost i meant it sounds like it.
cameron evans your right it dose
Byebye have a great day
+cameron evans No, it does not sound like the GE90 at all...
OK plane... But it ain't no DC-9
I managed to capture just one takeoff and landing of a DC-9 on my channel when I flew on a former Northwest bird a few years ago! It was always a great plane!
Your point?
DC 9 is a smaller and older aircraft that has nowhere near the capabilities of the a380
Amazingly Quiet even at max. takeoff power . Lazy climb rate like the A-340. It must be near max. gross weight.
Ray Hansen Yeah, they're very quiet but not as much as the Dreamliner!
+Mah584jr HD Aviation Yes but Dreamliner is not comfortable as A380,350,340
