- Time to dust off our capture-adapted PlayStation Vita to see just how much of an improvement Bluepoint's Gravity Rush remaster offers. Put simply - the attention to detail here is excellent, it's right up there with Uncharted: the Nathan Drake Collection in that respect.
Watch the performance comparison here: • Gravity Rush Remastere...

How do you record gameplay from PS Vita? Like this: www.eurogamer.net/articles/dig... - Hry
Remember when Sony made a promising handheld, released a couple great first-party titles, then went "nah, fuck our loyal customers. Let's not support this after about 1 1/2 years..." Yeah, I do too
Oculus/Facebook: Hold my hardware
(drops support for a device after only 4 months)
Literally the same thing happened with the Wii U.
@@HOTD108_ idk still had games for thrice the time the vita did
@@MrDiana1706 technically the vita lasted longer on the market than the Wii U
Bluepoint is doing the port? That's pretty much insta buy.
+beforeBan They've almost never done a bad port. Hell, the only port I have slight issues with is MGS3 on PS3 and that's because the game actually slows down during the fight with that annoying ass boss known as "THE FURY!!!"
+Gordon Freeman the Lombax of Space and Hedgehogs and THE TRUE HIGH KING OF SKYRIM AND PANDAS *cough* *cough* God of War Collection on the Vita *cough* *cough*
+beforeBan Woo Gravity DAZE! (^_^)b
+BritishActionGamer They didn't do the Vita Port of God of War Collection, they only did the original PS3 version.
Alex Olinkiewicz good, Bluepoints Titanfall port on the X360 was not good. And the port to Xbox One that was not done by Bluepoint was not good either.
just get titanfall on pc
Holy shit, that's a hella good remaster. Not just a port with better controls
One of my top 10 favorite games of all time
What an impressive remaster.
dam that game does not look that bad on ps vita ...i have it
It does. The reason why it doesn't look that bad to you is because of screen size
@@giroto. no it look bad but small screen size hides imperfections easier than a big one
Looks just fine on PSTV
I can see that the correct colours have been preserved properly. Great job, Blue Point!
Also, I played the original, and not even ONCE did I lose because of the frame rate.
This game was amazing
I gonna play the shit out of the Ps4 just for this game and the sequel☺💪
You can get the English asian version now if you don't want to wait til Feb.
+shtik That's what I'm doing when I get the chance
***** Enjoy.
I already got it for my Vita but the game is so good that I'd love to see how it would play on PS4. GR2 hype!
***** Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Really hyped for GR2!
I love the fade in fade out on the edits.
day1 baby! great work once again bluepoint. loved their uncharted remaster!
Why does the PSVita version look so low fps in this video? I don't remember the game running this choppy in the Vita. It was fairly smooth, actually.
it is because Remastered runs at 60fps and Vita runs at 30fps and the footage in this video is slowed by about half so it looks like Remastered is at 30fps while Vita is 15fps
was this slowed down? i have the vita version and it doesn't seem to run like you showed it
Bluepoint Games has done it again, these guys truly know what there doing when it comes to Remasters and Ports. I do own Gravity Rush on my PSVita and I'm happy to I'll be happy to get this game again on my PS4. Hopefully, Gravity Rush will get allot more attention now being on the PS4.
Excellent comparison, as always. I've had the game on the Vita but never bothered to play it, perhaps I will buy the remastered version now.
Damn this is almost as drastic as WWHD.
Man, the only reason I got a vita was for this game... I never even finished it because gravity sliding and motion controls are too much for me XD. But they realized the vita was dead and didn't want to let this game die. I'm trying to actually finish this game on the vita now so my vita can finally die fulfilling its purpose XD.
But Damn, I might get it on ps4 anyways just so it looks pretty
Simply amazing. Even better than the first time I played it, with the huge improvement. Always felt this game was too good to be on a handheld. Playing it now.
this review was awesome very nice work👍👌✌👏
Just bought this yesterday gonna play it NOW
WELL DONE DF. Keep it classy.
2024, just started playing it for the first time and I'm really enjoying it
Cel-shaded graphics = unique look
+Psygnosis DD I'm just joking. This game's artwork is nice and appealing. It's just no matter what game it is, cel-shaded graphics instantly equals unique look, and everybody says that like they've never seen a cel-shaded game before.
+Heisenberg It's true they look similar(when it comes to cell-shading) but you don't really see a lot of it. I adore it but I wouldn't want all games to have that aesthetic.
+Heisenberg It's not just cel-shading, its also the way they use lighting and the way things look at distance that gives it a very unique look. Personally, I can't think of any game that looks similar to this.
+kraajkase Okami, Borderlands, Gravity Rush, Ni no Kuni, Journey, they all look different to me.
The only goal of realism is to look as close to real life as possible, that's it.
Once you get rid of the real factor, you can do whatever, You can play with anatomy deformations, lightning, shadows, weird physics and effects, you can do cartoony characters or make more grounded ones etc. And it's one of those instances where the art director really has to work his ass off to nail the look of a game, down to the most insignificant thing like a can on the floor, not to mention textures which are probably made by hand, so mad respect to them.
This game reminds me of a Ghibli movie, I like it
going to buy this game twice
Hey DF please do a Turok: Dinosaur Hunter comparison...
DF I really want your X1 backward compatibility frame rate test
What's the point? they're pretty always trash anyway.
it looks gorgeous!
That's almost like comparing a game in 900p and in 4K. The frame-rate though is the thing that makes most impact in my opinion. 30fps is just unacceptable.
The remastered is really good but i want it also to be portable. Im confused where to play and purchase it.
I'm getting this day one i need this game.
It's a really interesting concept. I have it on the Vita, just not for me. I'm sure it'll get a warm welcome on the PS4.
Digital Foundry Analysis
Gravity Rush Remastered features 0p and 0fps on PC and XboxJuan
I own a PC, and an Xbox One, and i say that you guys can have this game. Honestly, this game doesn't interest me one bit, so it doesn't affect me that this game is exclusive.
oh no we don't get to pay full price for again for the same game that was released years ago. That's 4 the players though.
+Orion Pax I own a ps4 Xbox one and have a decent pc. Xbox games are better than ps4 but pc destroys both. don't it say something how shit ps4 games are when you're all excited about a ps vita game getting released on it. Han solo gets killed by his kid and Ray is a Jedi. you're welcome.
+Orion Pax yawn. Another reskin. booooring.
+Orion Pax that made no sense. the ps4 games are mindless sequels and reskins from games that ran on 8 year old hardware. That's really impressive. I own all systems. get a job.
Looks so amazing.
I hate pre-rendered cutscenes made with the same assets and engine of the game itself... They are dumb, there is no real reason to exist!
+MasterControl90 I agree. They just look god awful, especially on PC where the game itself is rendered much higher resolution.
+MasterControl90 i feel different.... i hate cgi cutscenes and the amount of time it takes for developers to use cgi cutscenes requires a serious amount of time. i rather prefer them making the game more polished or adding more content in a story line. besides ingame engine cutscenes feel better along with the game dont feel its 2 separate things.
+Leto Williams What I think MasterControl90 means is that they should be instead be in-game videos rendered in realtime rather than pre-recorded videos using in-game assets.
Well pre render cutscenes are easyer for the hardware because it needs to load just a video, in game cutscenes even I agree its better, it does have some flaws like if you shift from one camera to another you can notice texture pop up, or in a demanding scenes you can notice Frame rate drops.
CodeNameZ this happens because of some game engine that do "texture streaming" instead of loading everything into the RAM, a workaround for the previous gen consoles with a low amount of memory. Before the previous gen, on both consoles and pc, most cutscenes were in game while pre-rendered ones were there only in case of "cinematic" ones or to hide a pretty big loading (this last case is acceptable to me even today if done with a high quality encoding).
You guys should get a female to do the voice overs in these digital foundry videos.
se ve hermoso, lo voy a volver a comprar para ps4
I like it on PSVita (have a Platinum in it), but I don't think that shifting to PS4 was a good idea. I'd like sequel to come to PSV.
I love this on my Psvita
how to record video on ps vita
Wtf, why did you slow down the footage? The vita is actually running this game incredibly smooth
Looks lovely.
Omg. Amazing upgrade.
cool! i don't have a vita so i'm excited for this
You know what we want dude, we want ark survival evolved Xbox one framerate test!
Anyone still playing in 2018??
The game? Yes i got it (and the sequel) as a Christmas gift this year. I'm in love with it.
its a cultural heritage of the gaming industry modern... of course is still playing and for such many years
Do not forget that PS Vita version is running in 720 x 408 resolution.
Ahhhhh I didn't figure the textures would have been genuinely improved that much, considering this is a port from what Sony considers to be a black sheep. Even though it's their fault it didn't do well.
this is an amazing game no matter how you play it!
I remember playing gravity rush on vita but I don't remember it looking like it ran so shitty wtf???
It's stretched out and upscaled BUT it will look way better on the actual vita because of the screen and correct settings
+Fariko Wishless I meant the frame rate, I recently played gravity rush on vita and the frame rate was not that bad
They slowed it down to show the difference in animation a bit better.
When it's sped up to normal speed, the Vita runs and looks very smooth...
But not as good as the PS4 offcourse...
that or his Vita is broken..
This game i feel even though looks so much better on PS4 plays a lot better on the PS Vita you really do need that rear touchpad to play the game properly using the six-axis on the controller feels a bit clunky and does not allow you to play the game fast enough to hit those golds on the time trials at least that is what i have felt so far.
The polishing is impressive indeed but having already played the game on vita I dont feel like buying it again. Controls were a mess I hope the PS4 version with the dualshock 4 will improve them. I'm looking forward the sequel tho.
Controls weren't a mess unless you suck at games in general. I don't like the game, but it controlled fine.
+David Restrepo sulking at games has nothing to do with how smooth, responsive and efficent the controls of a game are. you can suck at Devil may cry or tekken, but the controls are excellent.
gravity rush has a messy camera as the whole Gravity thing, although being original, wasn't executed perfectly. Plus the combat system was a joke.
+Philip Pillis again. The controls worked fine. The game was mediocre and had bare bones shitty combat with repetitive mission structure and an "open world" that was full as all hell, but the controls worked perfectly fine and I never had issues. It was only a mess to control if you sucked at the game. Its controls were intuitive and it responded correctly to every button press on, screen touch/swipe, vita movement, everything. Its controls were fine. That's not to say they were perfect and no issues ever occurred, but they were FAR from the mess you're making them out to be, bud.
+David Restrepo I don't know I find them frustrating. it takes ages to kill single enemies because you're just flying around gettin all dizzy. the gravity kick precision is atrocious and it's easy to get stucked behind a Nevi's weak spot and you have to distance yourself again and kick it one more time...only because the game lacks a proper combo system so the combat, in my personal experience, feels repetitive dull and messy. I love the game's visual, characters, ost and overall style but the sequel needs serious improvements.
+Philip Pillis I found the quality of the game frustrating as well as its structure, but it controlled well. You probably were just unable to acclimate to the controls, which actually work very well. I expected it to be a nightmare to control, but it wasn't. Only had minor issues here and there, much like you'll have minor issues here and there with just about every game.
I feel like this is biased against the Vita version, what with the capture seeming a bit off, and most of (but not all, modeling updates do take work) being things like taking probably original assets and deciding on algorithms the PS4 has the ability to run.
The lighting effects, for instance, seem to have not been improved, Even though the hardware can definitely handle much better
The textures are much higher resolution, everything else is essentially the same yes.
is it the same game, just with better graphics?
Well yes, Its a Remaster after all... But you also get all DLCs with it too so BONUS!
skirmich it's just my budget wll cry if I get a ps4 because I want Bloodborne, DkS3, DOOM, and Gravity Rush...
Wow almost a complete new game, let they work in Budokai Tenkaichi 3 remastering please
Bluepoint does it again :)
The best upgrade is that frame-rate, Jesus I don't remember it being this choppy on my vita.
So... Locked 60fps?
No PC release? :(
+probo rahadianto Its a Sony IP so of course not.
go get this game now!
its on Sale:D
Beautiful game, I love my PS4.
Yay more remasters because who needs new games
+Shaydew Teh Hegdhug Did you play this game before? If not, I don't see what the problem is honestly. It's new to the people who never had a ps vita. Including me. And they're already making Gravity Rush 2 so that's one new game.
+try hard fan It doesn't matter if I played the game or not. Sony keep releasing remasters (most of which are half assed) to keep us happy instead of putting in some effort and giving us new games. The Wii U and Xbox One are laughing at the ps4 at this stage when it comes to exclusives
Shaydew Teh Hegdhug Well, yeah they lack exclusives right now. And 2016 seemed like a good line up in terms of exclusives, but honestly, it's looking like a lot of ps exclusives are going to be pushed back to 2017. Not impressive when you think about it. But it doesn't matter too much to me. The game I'm most excited for comes out in 2016, and it's not an exclusive. As for these remasters, I don't think it's a big deal. I understand why people would rather not have them though. But I'm looking forward to playing GR remastered.
damcs Horizon Zero Dawn looked nice, but I doubt it's coming out in 2016. Same thing with Detroit. Hopefully, everything else will be out soon. It's not the greatest line up of exclusives in my opinion, but it looks better than the Xbox line up (to me). There still aren't any games on Xbox One that interests me enough to get one.
+Shaydew Teh Hegdhug
Right.. But the reason this exists is to get people up to date for.. _a new game._ Gravity Rush 2.
Being on Vita, not a great many people played it. They could have just done the sequel without a remaster, but then nobody would know what's going on in the story,
When there's a remaster for remaster's sake, I'll agree with you, but this one has a legitimate purpose.
Great another remastered title. How many more do these consoles need?
+CSS567 Since I'm buying this game, they need more remastered titles.
+anthonygamer There's no need for remastered titles when they can create new instalments. This doesn't move the industry in the right direction.
it makes sense to make a remaster before the sequel arrives, so more people will become familiar with the franchise
+CSS567 this one was justified since the next game is ps4 exclusive
Halo Reach Backwards Compatibility vs Native Hardware???? plz
+DailyAverageGamer I can sum it up already as fucking horrible, it goes to really low fps on Xbone and some things don't render correctly. I hope they fix it. Small multiplayer maps work well at least.
+DailyAverageGamer X1 dips lower than the 360 majority time except in a few instances. There no video necessary.
Exactly what I was thinking. That's how it is for a lot of games it seems, which is shitty
I see something a little bit unfair on the Vita's side, I'm currently playing GR and it looks more fluid than shown here.
+MonoStation90 This is shown at half speed so 60FPS turns into 30FPS on PS4 and 30FPS drops to 15FPS for this video.
+cellphonelightsaber Oh that explains it, thanks ^.^
Gravity Rush is a one of the best games, it is nice, funny, the duration is normal, more game should be great
ARK Survival - ON XBOX ONE please do a Review
Why is the vita footage looking choppy and slow? I own the vita and it runs slooth and beautifully nothing like what youve displayed here. Youre digital foundry. You need to make honest comparisons.
Is the game worth the $60 for the PS4 version?
It's only $29.99 on the psn store right now. It releases Febuary 2nd this week. From what I've seen it looks like a really cool game! Going 2 buy it for my ps4.
+XHerobrine MC I've bought it and have platinumed the game. By the way, I live in Asia
+Izaatz Ah...so how'd you like it?
+XHerobrine MC My first game that I even bothered to get platinum. One of the best PS4 games I've played so far.
+Izaatz That's good news to me! Looking forward 2 playing it. Thx
Now I feel like the Vita graphics in the video aren't as good looking as they actually are. I don't own the game yet, but I've played the demo and it looks way better than in the video.
Plase, halo reach, judt cause, gears of war, fable and more backward compatibility in xbox one !
And now Persona 4: The Golden is the literal SINGLE REASON to even own a Vita anymore.
watch this at 2x is must
gravity rush is amazing!!!!
the difference between 30 and 60 fps is just so big.
They could've easily used the Asian release and not the Japanese, it is basically the English version of the game.
Awesome job from Bluepoint, by the way what brought the pc virgins & xbots here ?
+jonjo monjo PC players, no idea. Xbots, probably trying to attack the PS4 seeing as it's exclusives are gonna kick the shit outta Xbox One this year. Xbox really only has Gears 4. PS4 has GR 1&2, Horizon Zero Dawn, FF 7 remake and Nier Automata. And those are just the ones I know about.
+jonjo monjo I'm a PC gamer but I also have a PS4 for the occasional console exclusive like Gravity Rush.
+kagenotatsumaki Persona 5!
MrJibsIV .......How THE FUCK did I forget about that one??? Lol
+kagenotatsumaki uncharted 4 😅
Every time I see comparisons like this it baffles me that there are people that defend 30fps.
Wow, this looks so much better on the PS4. And to think that folks are happily playing on the 3DS with a measly 400x240 resolution. We need HD handhelds, kill off the 3DS (I own a 3DS XL and it's very uncomfortable to play some games on too)!
They have small 3ds but only for limit edition animal crossing
3ds? this is vita
fendish2012
Small 3DS is worse.
WH250398 PSVita is a better tech, but unfortunately it lacks the games. That said, PSVita is still not HD, the screen is 540p. this just reminded me of how I hate the situation with handheld gaming. Nintendo has a monopoly and lack of competition let's them get away with nonsense.
freedom wars and soul sacrifice delta also runs at native resolution too i think
Do a gameplay comparison, because I bet they didn't improve the shitty "kick everything all the time" gameplay one bit.
Frame Rate??????
+WeabooBrandon lol
+WeabooBrandon Lol thanks
+WeabooBrandon filthy weeaboo
+WeabooBrandon I can smell the virginity from you
+WeabooBrandon Damn you bodied that nigga
If you play vita version on large HD TV, it will look awful because of the 720x408 resolution
I kind of feel very bad for the Playstation VITA here because of A) What it's being compared to and B) The one exclusive it's had stolen from it's system. Great game but obviously PS4 is going to be much, much sharper given the hardware it has to work with.
+Adam Anouer Indeed. Only if people gave the Vita a chance. Way better system than 3DS.
+MadFinnTech Ture I have the vita and the new 3ds xl and I play the vita more.
+Al. Lopez (AL2009man) Oddworld was on the Ps1 first about 17 years ago so it was basically on PlayStation first
One you say? what about killzone mercenary uncharted golden abyss freedom wars soul sacrifice cod black ops declassified wipeout...
thellama gamingc To be fair...that is a good point.
MY EYES!!!!
Yeah Playstation really should just leave the handheld market...
I bet uncharted golden abyss is next..... The amount of potential wasted on the vita is astounding.... Great job Sony
How much fkn remasters are on ps4
A lot. But video games are video games. In fact it's better having them then having none like the PS3 in its early years.
+I DragoN the second game is coming to ps4...of course they had to remaster this.
it's not that laggy on the vita.
They are running both version at half speed for comparison...
+Shuvam Ghosh just pointing it out since others think it's like that on the vita
Oh...
OK...
I don't remember it looking that bad on the Vita.
+Douglas Harris It didn't run at native res on the Vita and the lack of anisotropic filtering made it look pretty washed out over all. The colours were a bit punchier though than what you're probably seeing right now if you're watching this on an LCD screen.
sime dieran un euro cada vez que sony hace un remaster seria asquerosamente rico ... pero oye la retrocompatibilidad un atraso verdad sony?
Entonces no los compres :)
on the actual Ps vita the game looks better , here looks like a NDS emulator on my going on my old computer
me gusta mas como se ve en el vita :D
does the vita really run at 25 fps? lol
no 30
+WH250398 Barely and in rare occasion, in reality it's closer to 25.
MadFinnTech
No that's not true. They did a frame rate test on it a few days ago btw... Comparing it to the ps4
Ps vita controls > ps4 controls
The hardest part of this game wasn't the bosses or enemies but fighting the tediously disobedient camera angles.
Also, the remaster looks nice.
Looks so amazing.?
For past 10 years I was told human eye can't see past 30fps.
+SeKToR You are surrounded with stupid people.
+SeKToR Well, yes we can. It's a shame we've been told that.
Is this really considered a "Remaster"?
+RemoteGamingYT Yes it is. It goes to 1080p 60fps, with a few other improvements. That's what a remaster is.
+RemoteGamingYT Plus, the answer to that question is explained in the video. :/
+try hard fan yeah. they are called settings in pc gaming. we don't pay extra for those.
organicpeach85 Well, we pay extra for the remaster.
+try hard fan yep. paying for what is a menu setting. Well done.
Don't steal my fire :(
PS4 version looks like a PSP Game that was upscaled to 3x Native Resolution in PPSSPP. At least the game runs now in 60 FPS, but i'm sure a lot of people are not happy with this change because peasant eyes can't see past 30 FPS and now the game is just too fast for them. Plus, the game is no longer cinematic.
cool b8
+Enclave Soldier as someone who owns this game on ps4, you're full of shit.
Ugh, I can't stand the vita framerate.
you know the video is slowed down, right?
SilentZero I did not, although it doesn't change how unbearable it looks in the video.
+Klemen Kekec The Vita game framerate looks nothing like in this video. It's very smooth, actually. I don't know why it was so poorly captured here. It makes it look way worse than it is.
