Well said Wale! Invaluable content. I have similar story. I transitioned from industrial chemistry to Data Analysis without going to school to study for it. I've since then worked in two multinationals after switching. Guys, if you're looking at transitioning to Data Analyst career, stick with Wale and take the online courses. It will help you.
Hey there, may I know how many hours (per day) or how long (as in months) it took for your learning before landing a data analyst job?
Have been a math geek since youth, tho it gets real rusty after graduating from civil engineering school. I'm 28 now
@@the12345a1 If you dedicate 2-3hrs daily, you should be fine. Being a math gig will help your analytical mind.
It took me over a year before landing my job as an analyst. I took up Admin roles and there I was able to showcase my skills and that landed me on my analyst job.
@@Seunsalisu appreciate your reply! Looking forward to all these learning and good luck in your job!

As someone who has been a network engineer for about 3 years something that I constantly wonder is if it's too late for me to switch domain. But hearing from you that you did it at an age of 27 is very inspiring.
I can say that most (large %) of data analyst switched from other fields. it's never too late, don't let age stop you.
You can switch even in your 40's.Just make up your mind and go for it. I am in operations switching to Software Testing.

I'm not even done yet but this sounds so relatable and inspiring.
I'm 25 years old, currently a Master's student in Mathematics. I got a lecturing job as I've always wanted in February, 2020. After the pandemic hit, we got laid off here in Kaduna state.
I came across Data Analysis/Analytics and decided to add to my knowledge (since it seems like my dream of being a lecturer is not forth coming).
I'm glad I stubbled on this video, feels like God is talking to me but I don't know what yet...
Thanks for this Wale. I wish you all the best too.

I am a lowly English teacher and I am looking into a career change. I like numbers, but that is where it begins and ends for me. I recently learned that Google is offering training in this area and was curious. Congrats on your career change! I wish I had chosen a different career path. I am homeschooling my children, but miss working. I enjoy teaching, but do not want to return to the classroom (Common Core killed my dream). Online teaching is not an option. I feel lost. Thank you for your video.

You're doing a great job, Bro.
Wale, just a quick question. While on your current career path, have you thought of going ahead to do a Master of Science in Data Science and Analytics or something of the sort? (For the purpose of career growth and development in your new field).
I already love this my Nigerian bro. I already running the Google data analytics course on Coursera. I follow alex too.hopefully if I am done and land a job, I will go for my second masters, but this time on data analytics.

I just graduated with a chemical engineering degree, didn't find a job immediately and I noticed there is a lot of data analyst jobs that want engineers so I decided to do a BEngHons in systems engineering where I am really getting some exposure into data analysis and some of the tools you mentioned. I'm hoping that this expands the job market for me. So glad I found your channel :)
Awesome!
hahaha..Somehow, I knew you studied mechanical engineering. We both have a lot in common. I also did mechanical engineering but in a polytechnic here in Nigeria. I also worked as a subsea technician with GE here in Nigeria before we got laid off in 2016. I currently work as a field service technician working on gas turbines. However, I am studying to become a data analyst. I love the fact there's. a whole lot of mental work as a data analyst, unlike my current job. Maths have never been a problem to me. I am done with Macquire University Excel for business course. I am almost done with IBM Data analyst certificate course. . After IBM, I will move to the Google data analyst course. All those courses are on Coursera. I love the fact there are projects to be done at the end and you get integrated into a pool for job hunting support. My goal is to further my studies as I intend becoming a researcher in the field of AI.
Wow!. I love your ambition! Haha, we do have a lot in common. Currently taking the google data analyst course and IBM data analyst course so i can do a comparative analysis of both. Glad you are finding data analysis interesting!
Please can you put me through
