This is the greatest song ever, and that is fact because it always comes out top of surveys through the decades. This video, from 1975, as is the song, was the first pop video ever shown on British TV, and the reason was that Queen were on tour in Japan at the time of recording Top Of The Pops, so they needed something for the show. Christmas No.1 in 1975 and lasted at the top for 9 weeks. Also it was re-released in 1991 when Freddie Mercury died, and was Christmas No.1 again.

In 1975 the only technology readily available was the multiple track tape recorder. Queen put this together by layering and splicing segments from different tracks. No computers, no autotune, just pure talent, hard work and genius. This technique followed from pioneering work of Delia Derbyshire in the 1960s with the BBC Radiophonics Workshop. Delia created music by physically cutting up tape and changing speed, hence pitch. The Dr. Who theme is her work.

It brings attention to some songs
Otherwise its not accurate and doesn't show Freddie fairly.
Freddie knew Tim at college two years before he left smile.
Freddie lived with Roger and they ran a market stall before Queen.
Roger said he and Brian were giving up but Freddie encouraged them to start again with him but with his vision of the band.
Roger and Brian released solos before Freddie
Freddie did his solo between working with Queen
They finished their world tour for the works 2 months before live aid..

Whenever they performance this live, the choral intro wasn't done because it was done entirely by Freddie - every harmony perfectly sung and layered in the recording.

Bohemian Rhapsody was released in 1975. Queen is arguably the greatest band of all time. Rest in peace Freddie Mercury. PLEASE check out more Queen, you won’t regret it!

1975, a true classic, still as relevant today as it was back then. So happy you have a whole new line of music to chase up.

It was released in 1975. Everyone who hears it for the first time gets that same look on their face. The opening with the four heads of the band was actually all Freddie's voice, stacked many times to get all those harmonies. A rhapsody is an epic poem.

Hell man, you didn't say how many times his voice was layered.
ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY TIMES. DONE WITH A 24 TRACK RECORDER.

@@paulmichaelfreedman8334 It's completely stunning. And all that layering of voices resulted in a choir worthy of my beloved Berlioz Requiem. It was just the three guys. John Deacon didn't sing--just as well too. They always cut his mike to be sure.
