KSU, Manhattan KS and the State of KS owe a HUGE debt of gratitude to these MEN. They began the MIRACLE IN MANHATTAN with this game. EMAW!!!!!

I actually quite the team the week before this game. Honestly the worst decision I ever made in my life. I was in the stands and was so proud of my brothers that day. Teammates used to call Frank Hernandez, Mike Smith and Myself the Three amigos. Good times! My High School coach became the head football coach at the University of North Texas the following spring so I ended up playing for him there.

I was an elementary school student living in Manhattan when this game was played. I wasn't at the game, but I remember how wild the celebrations were that weekend. The funny thing was that one of my family's friends was a starting defensive lineman for the Wildcats the year before this game. He actually quit the team in disgust after Coach Snyder took over the team because Snyder insisted on playing to win.

The most notable part of this video is that no one in the crowd is wearing purple. The pride that has built up since this day is remarkable.

Amazing what these guys help build, I wonder if they had a clue what was in store for this program and what that win meant to it.

Alan Bloomfield no need to wonder- I knew some of the guys, and yes they had a clue. It wasn’t till a couple seasons later maybe that everyone else started to believe too!

Was this the kickstart to the program? I'm a Tennessee fan, but wanted to see some old school K-State footage since I was thinking ab the potential of y'all getting left behind w all the realignment. I hope not. Classy program in a true college town...that's good for college football. I'd hate to let teams like this fall to the wayside. Now teams like eastern Michigan need to just drop down to FCS.

Only went to one, 'Cats Football game, as a student, in 1984. Just a few of us students were there. Playing OU.
We left after the 1st. quarter. I felt sorry for the men trying to represent our college/town/state. Our school is proud. Always had been. EMAW! :)

They looked like tennis shoes, but they were Nike Pro Turf.
Very popular model for blown ACLs, because they had such good traction. The knee would move, but your foot didn't.

It wasn't actually a 31-game losing streak. It was a 31-game non-winning streak. They tied KU in '87 so the losing streak was actually 16 games.
