  • Let's look at the March lineup after I have used the pens for about a month. I had good runs with all the pens and ink combinations and would love to share my experience. Let's see what worked and what didn't.

I totally love all your videos. Actually just binged the last weeks worth of videos in the last days to catch up again.

Ancient Copper is my love! It looks beautiful on that paper.

I always find your monthly pen reviews so interesting and how much you experiment with swapping nibs. I try to be more observant in my pen and ink combos to fine tune what I like and don't like.

Oh thank you! I definitely notice that my pairings are more and more successful. The only fails is if I repeat the same mistakes over and over.

Thanks for the details and honesty. I find these vids incredibly relaxing. I’ve found that, surprisingly, inks like sailor Fuji or 123 look better on a concentrated fine nib, like a twsbi.

Interesting! I will have to try with one of the lighter inks in my stash. Thanks!

Agree with your take on the Opus 88. Got my Opus 88 pens with a good discount and consider them worth the price. I hope you figure out your nib issue with the Imperial Sailor pro. I love the feedback and smoothness of the Sailor pens I have.
Btw try your Opus88 with the SIG nib if you haven’t done so already. I used mine with a Chinese made long blade( like an architect’s) nib and loved the writing experience.

I love my Lamy Studio. Hate the ink in it 😂 So interesting the differences in experience

    1. I think swatching is counterproductive if the final use is in a fountain pen. I've made some decent brush paintings with those wimpy Sailor inks, after I gave up on using them in a pen. The exact same thing happens at the other end of the scale: dark inks that swatch nice all look black in a pen.
    2. What is the point of that $400 nib?

I love that you’re ditching the inks that are disappointing to you; why put yourself through it?

that is not Diamine Glacier there is something wrong with that color diamine glacier is almost so blue all you see is sparkle and it looks white I thiink you may have gotten a contamination

I'm not sure in what context I talked about the ink as I did not use Diamine Glacier in March. If you can add the minutes, so I can check what I said, maybe I misspoke.

I like your GRADING System , you have developed for yourself.
My Grading system goes something like this :
1 ~ The Price of the Pen ?
2 ~ What is the Brand of the Pen ? Affordable Pilot or hi-priced Montblanc ?
3 ~ is it a Proprietary Cartridges & Converter or do you like Piston or Eye-Dropper style ?
    4 ~ is the nib available in XFine / Fine / Med / Bold / Italic Calligraphy / Fude / Rounded / ?
Is the nib steel , iridium or (14,18,21k) Gold, or
5 ~ Construction materials of the Pen [ Acrylic, plastic , Wood , metals (steel / Copper brass / Aluminum / Titanium / Resin / Celluloid:) other rare materials ]
6 ~ Is it comfortable in the hand {length, barrel Girth } ?
7 ~ Does it work with my writing style ?
8 ~ Do you prefer Snap on Cap, Screw on Cap ?
9 ~ Do you prefer Clip or no clip ?
10 ~ Do you like to post your pens, or not post them ?
11 ~ How does it perform ? Wet smooth, or dry scratchy ?
12~ What are the best ink brands for this Pen ?
13 ~ Do you have a preference in the looks of a pen ? ex : demonstrator, wood, gold trim, colorful , black, hi quality craftmanship , artistic appearance etc etc?

Yeah, that's what I hopefully check before I even purchase the pen. So the three criteria I rate are for the specific pairing and my feeling about the pen while using it.

My Lamy Studio All Black works great. I have only tried it with the Lamy Blue and now Diamine Solar Storm. So far so good! 🤞😁 My Lamy Vista and Studio worked brilliantly from the start as did my Kaweco Sport. No issues. Haven't gotten any Japanese pens yet, but look forward to add some eventually. 😇🩷🙏🙌

That's very exciting. The Platinum Preppy and the Pilot Kakuno are two Japanese starters that won't break the bank and will definitely make you happy!

Kakuno and Prera seems very interesting! Don't know where my Preppy has gotten to. 😁💝
