  • Week 3 of my No Spend February and I wasn't completely good! Also some bad news, which I edited badly... I tried to say "passed away" but it sounded weird, sorry. Hope you're all getting on well, if you are doing a No Spend too - if you want some encouragement please comment!

So sorry for your loss, Val 😭😭 You’re a good mom! I had to deal with my mom’s death a while ago and it’s very hectic. Thanks for supporting Brandon. You’ve done amazing on Frugal February 😘

Brandon seems to have a good Solicitor and he has some lovely ideas for his Dad's funeral. It's hard on him though. xx

I am also a grown woman with a ton of tshirts. Some of them I no longer wear, but I can’t get rid of them. They are my emotional support tshirts 😂 I propose we never wear adult women clothes!
When I visited a few years ago, my English friends suggested we “go for curry” for dinner. I was so excited. Now I can say I’ve had a proper English curry. 😁 Best of luck to your son. That’s a lot to deal with at any age. He is fortunate to have a mum like you to help him out.

I dress like a teenage boy from the 90s. I wear short sleeve t-shirts over long sleeve t-shirts ... I just think I might need some clothes to wear if we go somewhere nice. Or imagine if Dave's boss invited us over for dinner! I can't go dressed like Billie Joe Armstrong 😂
Curry is as British now as Fish and Chips. Glad you had some!

First, you look beautiful without makeup. Secondly, you as a grown up woman get to wear t shirts or whatever you like! Blessings and condolences to Brandon. Life can really throw you for a loop. He has great support in his mum and Dave. Love the sheets, I don't feel weird now for saving my son's favorite sheets. Be well, thanks for your updates 🙏😊

Oh Val.... what a blessing Brandon has you as his mum..... I'm so sorry for your loss.
I have been quite good this week, but birthday season is well and truly upon me and I've had to buy presents for my granddaughter. I don't count that as frivolous spending though!
I enjoyed your description of Dave's meal.... I hope you both enjoyed it 🙂
I'm off to spend some more money, my son who is almost reclusive and lives and works on his own has caught the dreaded disease.... I need to get him supplies for his isolation.
Take care, have a good week. XxxX

Valerie, if you take your blip and average it out over the number of days or weeks, then the blip really doesn’t count. Add that into the extra stress you and your son will be dealing with, and just be kind to yourself and look at the money you DIDN’T spend … then give yourself a huge pat on the back. You are doing brilliantly.

I was all set to gloat about how well I did, but had the same blip-I spent $5 on fish and chips takeaway. 😋Don't our two takeaway food blips cancel each other out?🤣I think you're doing fantastic with frugal February!

I would say all things considered you are doing fine. It's a lot of heavy news for your son, but it's something we all must go through and there's never a good time for it. IN light of all that, being 10-pounds down after three weeks, I don't think you're at all doing badly. As Burt might say, I'll say a little prayer for you.

Sending love and im so sorry for your loss. And hope Brandon will deal ok and cope with the horrors of solicitors
I went to visit my mum she managed to get me a lot of bits of wool for me to continue my pom pom rug.
I took a book I'd have for years and been putting off reading it. And my late cat had pissed all over it which was fun on the train hehe. But jaws the book is great but for everyone. But got a few books from him from ebay. Reading another of his and its twisted hehe. So 10 on books and a couple of cds to encourage me to git my front room and get reading again. Yes that is me justifying crap I don't need.
And well done you so needed a take out and you did so so well.
But I have given myself the declutter challenge too. So when away my pet sitter messaged. Can we put some stuff in your bin. Couldn't say no really so have no room in the bin for a few days. But the thought is there.
Oh and pokemon go event ticket. But that is essential and I need it hehe
    Good luck and well done

Don't mention cat pee to me... We have four males and I have no sense of smell. This means that indoor pee (however rarely it happens) is always a possibility and I will almost always be unaware of it. I worry that someone will visit me and go away thinking my house stinks and I haven't bothered to fix it. Your monetary transgressions are forgiven - don't do it again 😂

What are adult woman clothes anyway? I wear t shirts and vest tops all the time with either jeans or jogging bottoms, I am 62 and I doubt I will ever change :) I have completely blown it this week, a large box of Cadbury's cream eggs (second one in three weeks apparently) My hubby is keeping track :( A Donna Kato book (that I really need!) 🙄 and some plants (that were a bargain) but only if I bought them now and will be delivered at the end of March. Speculate to accumulate is a valid reason! 🤣, What I didn't buy, is a new igloo cat bed because of course I can make one cheaper! 🤣🤣🤣. Really sorry about Brandons dad, it is hard at any age to lose a parent, and all the relevant paperwork and shizzel afterwards is a bloody nightmare, just at the point when you don't need it. Condolences to you all. Bless you Valerie, keep us laughing :) x

Cream eggs - rude not to. Donna Kato - got to be done.
Plants? - really? Doesn't that mean getting dirt on your hands?
I'm letting you off because you totally saved on balance, given that you made a cat igloo.
      Thanks for the condolences ❤️

I don't think the takeaway was a blip. Looking at your spending from a complete outsider I think you love to buy what my called dust collectors. Maybe to help you going forward look at what yod usually spend on dust collectors and think of a way to use that money better. My first thought would be to pay for Brendon to go snowboarding as this obviously means alot to him and would be a lovely way to help him heal from his loss. Imagine the feelings you'd get from that compared to looking in that drawer where you hide your unwanted dust collectors. Then next month what about something special for you and Dave? A heartwarming memory is much better adding to that drawer. Then it's a reward that will hopefully become a better addiction. There must be somewhere you and/or Dave would love to go or see? Imagine those memories Brendon is relying on to get him through this awful time and being able to add to those for your other loved ones. Take Brendons loss as a catalyst to new way of spending. Turn this awful situation into something good.
BTW been meaning to ask how you're doing after your therapy for getting out and about. Lots of love to you all, H xxx

    • @UnrulyHousewife
      @UnrulyHousewife  Před rokem

I'm doing pretty well with getting out and about - still a bit reticent but so far so good. Avoiding those dust collector items is 100% my motivation. At the moment my main aim is to rebuild my savings and be a bigger human "emergency fund" for my boys. I am also saving up some money to help pay off part of the balance on our car (or the allowed extra on our mortgage). I have an idea that Brandon may not need us to pay for his holidays soon. Maybe Dave and I could go somewhere... 🤔
