  • A day out with John Mease (flying Erlan) Ben Breward (flying Stan) & Danny Carter (flying Sako)
A day where the Hares made our eagles look daft... We saw over 40 hares during 3 hours of walking the fields.
A good sign of an excellent breeding season of these wild hares.
    Thank as always for watching!

I got my first hawk two days after you posted this video. She has been an absolute joy to hunt with since then (and I've still got SO much to learn). I loved watching this and cannot wait for her moult to be finished. Subscribed!

I pulled an eyas female in 1974, but it was for another falconer. I never had the urge to fly one, they're just too big.

Yeah, the bigger the bird, the more it tends to be aggressive.
I gave worked with goldeys in the past. Good fun but i would only want one for hunting purposes .

Yeah, friend of mine flew two tiercels in the 60's, he said there was two problems he had with them. One bad habit was they'd pick his face in a playful manner, but took chunks out of his cheek. Also, when they caught game, they wouldn't release it and he had to sit there for hours until they were done eating.

Why don't they hunt vertical? That's the natural method for those guys, like an F4 phantom. They go supersonic but not as agile as the smaller prey. I've seen Eagles drop straight out of the sky at what has to be near 50mph, rotate talons out and drive the prey right into the dirt. Prey doesn't hear or see them coming.

Here in philly Pa USA, we lean towards the American Pitbull (*Terrier)
They typically hunt alley cats, pigeons, burglars, and the older ones will also attack the occasional basketball, football, tuck tire or anything that they can pop. Some are bread without the best intentions. But they are just remarkably strong and determined k9's. I grew up with them and They still amaze me sometimes.
    * theirs always big debates about the names & breeds. Terriers, Pitts, Pitt bull, Blue Nose Pitt Bull... etc. I say it's your dog, call it what u want. Most ppl just referred to them as Pitt Bulls. Then the Law came and outlawed the ownership of Pitt Bulls in many places... so now they are called everything except Pitt Bulls. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤣🤣🤣
👮‍♂️🚔 hey u cant own that dog here Sir...
🤷🏼‍♂️ What bro? That dog's a Terrier Beijing mastiff mixed with East German Shepherd and 1/8 labrador.
🚔👮‍♂️ oh... ok. I thought it was a pitt bull.
    🗣 nope.

Don't see the point in hawking with a Golden Eagle unless your main quarry is deer........
For better quality sport and hawking with a Gos for example.

It takes a good fit eagle to catch hares.
