- Making art from an underground wasp nest will be shown in this video.
The result is is a 11kg or 24lbs aluminum piece of art.
I'm also using the biggest crucible that i have and using a custom made tong (thx 2 Joppe) to grap and pour it !
Wasp are exterminated here in Belgium by the fire department with fire or poison.
NEVER kill bees people !! Bees are very important to the survival of the human race :) Just google it and you will find some more info.

Ok, like I said in the video and in the description : I live in Belgium, and when we have a wasp nest that is close to a house or a place where people are (like my children in this case) we need to call the fire department. They will come to exterminate the wasp nest with poison. Wasps are not protected in Belgium. Bees on the other hand are protected here!
Why would you need to call the fire department for that? Are pesticides not available in Belgium or something? Cause I've dealt with ground hornets and wasps many times by just going down to the local hardware store, buying pesticide and flooding the nest with it. All else fails you can just haul out a garden hose and flood the nest with water and drown them all.

I worked on golf courses and knew a guy who really hated red fire ants. He would find them, pour gas down holes and use small explosives.

While at a water park in Mexico, the wasp would actually keep our food safe from the flies for a while. They would capture the fly after it landed, and take it to the nest. It was so surreal, so not all wasps are bad.

i had a traumatic experience with wasps you have no idea how good this makes me feel
Fun fact: Wasps can pollinate depending on the season. There are also relatively docile species of predatory wasps which are beneficial in passive pest control, these docile ones are generally hard to stir up, some of them happen to even harder to get to attack you than honeybees. I don't remember any specific mentionable species at the moment of writing this, but I know yellow jackets are definitely not one.

Here's a neat story regarding your fun fact. I hate wasps....with a damn passion. They terrify me so bad I get panicked when I hear any buzzing. My deck in the summertime always has wasps and carpenter bees to the point you can't enjoy it until you kill them all. Now on my deck stairs, there's a tiny old carpenter bee hole and in there is these big pitch black wasps with white rings around their body. I have never seen them in my life. I thought they were hornets honestly, but the dogs would walk by the steps and nothing would come out of the hole, even if they just flew in as the dogs walked by. I knew they couldn't be hornets as my poor dogs would've been stung for walking by. Curious, I looked them up and found out they were 4 toothed Mason wasps! They're not aggressive at ALL and eat pests in your garden. I decided to let them stay there as they are no bother, they help my garden, and don't destroy the wood, they re-use that same old hole. They have small, small colonies too, only about 5-7 wasps in my stairs. They come to nest every spring, lay their eggs and disappear by July. August/September the eggs hatch and I see them for a little, then they vanish until next spring. This has been going on for 4-5 years now, so my deck stairs are their home and they know to come there. I truly enjoy when they're around and like watching them. Those are about the only wasps I ever let co-habit a space with me. Bees/Bumblebees also don't bother me. The 4 toothed Masons and the Bees can hang out near me anytime. The Mason Wasps are welcome for as long as they wish to nest here, which so far has been quite a few years.
