Another underrated disney movie is brother bear. Its so good
There’s an important reason that Eugene cuts Rapunzel’s hair before she can heal him - she keeps her word when she gives it. She promised to never ask Mother Gothel to leave the tower again, so she didn’t ask directly BUT she still chose to leave on her own. When she swore to go wherever “Mother” wanted without fighting if she let her heal Eugene, but would otherwise fight her all the way, this convinced Gothel to allow it.
Thing is, they could not have known that Gothel was so old she would age to death, so while cutting her hair would remove the power and take any reason she had to take Rapunzel again, Gothel may have just killed him again in revenge... and maybe also her “daughter” for letting it happen. The more important thing is that Eugene was acting completely selflessly, knowingly sacrificing his life for the freedom of the first person he ever loved and cared for more than he’d done for himself.
These scenes aren’t rational, but they ARE deeply poetic.
I appreciate you both taking the film for what it is, and for liking that. Like, Maximus didn’t have to be a horse, could have been a man too, but it worked for the film; I also like Gothel plenty as a villain, and elements like the thugs who have hearts, the scene with the king and queen’s grief and fading hope, the songs, the heroes...
Will you watch the Tangled animated series, it’s a pretty great sequel story to this movie. I admit I had mixed feelings on the premise (which a special set up for it), but it turned out pretty nice overall. Just one of several great modern Disney series...
This is so much better than Frozen
I think the reason I enjoyed Tangled more than Frozen has to do with character development and the pacing of the movie, cause when I re-watch Frozen a 2nd time it felt "rushed" when compared to Tangled.
That's not to say I disliked Frozen, but honestly Tangled had the better pacing.

clam down I bet you don't compare male films with other male films, tangled is a good movie about a girl finding out she is the lost princess where as Frozen is about discovering yourself and owning your own differences (easily a better message).....ENOUGH lie what you like but stop this pettiness.
I enjoyed Frozen and Frozen 2, but I liked Tangled better. Frozen did feel like something was missing... and when I listened to the extended soundtrack I discovered that they had a story that delved further into the sister's relationship and I WISH they had kept all they cut because it would have made the movie better. In the extended soundtrack, they talked about how there was a plot point which they called "the heir and the spare"... where Elsa was the one who was destined to become heir to the throne while Anna was "the other daughter." There's a song where Anna sings about how she's more than a spare and it makes it clear how well Elsa is taking to her future role as queen and how well Anna is not doing that. Later, in the confrontation, Elsa gets genuinely angry at Anna's lack of understanding about wanting her to come back and have everything be as it was... not understanding how much she was suffering. Later on, when Anna is dying in the castle and Elsa is out on the ice, they sing a song where they finally understand the way the other was feeling and it so wonderfully sets up the ending.
The scene of the king and queen tears me up every time. The animators really nailed that scene. You feel so much for them, you hardly know them, they say nothing, but you feel everything
One of my favorite Disney animated films and interestingly enough Tangled will soon be celebrating its 10th Anniversary this November

To answer questions about the Rapunzel fairy tale, a man and his wife were expecting a baby and the wife got cravings for all the vegetables in the witch’s backyard that lived next door, and the witch caught the father breaking in one night, so in order to let him go, she said to give her their baby. Baby is born, witch takes her and puts her in a tower. So the witch and the tower and ‘Rapunzel, let down your hair’ is all from the fairy tale. Another thing the two have in common is that Rapunzel’s tears heal her prince (in the fairy tale, crows had plucked his eyes out, and she cries right into his sockets and he’s healed).

@@sbasi2739 You mean films w/ a male protagonist? People compare them all the time. That's where subjects like John McClane vs Martin Riggs, Luke Skywalker vs Harry Potter, Terminator vs RoboCop, etc... come from.
I compared because it was 2 movies from the same animation house within Disney released one after another using the same visual style. Rapunzel and Flynn are even in Frozen. Again, I love both movies. I just enjoy Tangled more.
Its the other way around the people who made Tangled made Frozen.

This is one of my favorite Disney movies, it’s sooooo good and the romance is done very well.

Disney made a series after the movie, is called: "Rapunzel´s Tangled Adventure". it has 3 seasons and it was pretty good and worth to watch it.

One of my favorite movies! I remember my brother and me watching, and our dad siting behind us. He wasn't really watching until he looked up and saw the horse. He laughed so hard that he kept watching with us. He really liked the movie. Such a great memory😊❤

Tangled is one of my favorite modern Disney movies. I really enjoy the story, the characters, and songs. I hope you guys watch and react some of the older classic Disney movies like you did with Disney's Peter Pan. Nice reaction!

So glad you guys loved this! You should definitely also check out the sequel TV show "Tangled: the series" /"Rapunzel's tangled adventure" which starts with a TV movie "Tangled: Before ever after".
They made a series called “Tangled The Series” and it takes place after the events of the movie. I totally recommend watching it!
One of my favorites, so glad y'all finally watched it!
This one came out a couple years before Frozen, and they even added Rapunzel and Eugene going to Elsa's coronation (although that was probably more of an easter egg, like Scar in Hercules). Something I'd never noticed until someone pointed it out is that when Mother Gothel is being affectionate, it's always directed at Rapunzel's hair.

The scene where her tears heal him is from one of the earliest versions, but it was a different situation, it was a prince who came to rapunzel and when the witch found out she cuts her hair and gets rid of her, when the prince returns the witch goes after him, he falls and has his eyes scratched up, he wanders around for years until he hears rapunzel's singing and are reunited, she heals his eyes and she introduces him to their twins and return to his kingdom.
Donna Murphy played the old woman. She can belt out the songs. She also played Picard's love interest in Insurrection.
Sometimes I feel this is better than most of the modern Disney movies...half of the time I think it is better than Frozen and don’t know if it would beat out my #1 Moana but it is definitely close. Pascal I think is possibly thee cutest of all the Disney animated characters so much personality in such a tiny body lol.

Hey! I love this channel and your reactions so much! Could you guys react to Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame? It’s a super underrated film in the 90’s Disney cannon
Two animated movies that aren't Disney films that you might want to check out that I feel are very overlooked are Anastasia (Fox Animated Studios) and The Swan Princess (New Line Studios).
Tangled is just a great film... most kid films only try to be 1 thing... a girl film or male film... and sure many can be enjoyed by both but it's fun to have a film where both the male and female lead are equally involved and important in the story. No 1 note love interest like a male centric action movie or the old disney princess films prince Charmings
