    Some older flash units use the micro (cell phone) plug, as well, and it can be very hard to find adaptors to mate them with minis or 1/4 inch lines. One way is to use a cable and a plug-in slave, which can be positioned to "see" where the on-unit slave cannot. There are also hub-type adaptors for sync cords - 1 in, 3 out, etc., which can be useful, especially if you have a gender matching problem in your cables. And the older Edison lines are great as intermediaries - when you need longer runs of cable, you can use a household extension cord between the camera sync and the strobe sync cords. And its stronger, so it weathers handling better.

    Finding a cable to connect my fuji tx3 to a godox sk400ii is frustrating. This strobe does not have HSS; I just want to connect it in sync with the camera. I received a cable from B&H, but it does not fit the adapter that was recommended for the hot shoe. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you.

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  Před 2 lety +1

      My first suggestion is don't try to sync it off the hot shoe. Sync it off of your camera's sync port. Look it up in your camera manual and look at the section on syncing your camera with strobes.

      More than likely you have an issue with your strobes. Unless, you are using a faster shutter than 1/200th of a second. That will start to clip the strobes and create problems.

    I am new to photography. I am looking for a trigger. I am currently looking into the Godox trigger that seems to do everything including the dishes. I am also looking for a speedlite. I have chosen the compatible Godox that also seems to do everything. If I get the speedlite that says it can fire strobes, what would be the benefit of having a dedicated trigger? If anyone can answer, I would appreciate it. I am planning to make the purchase or purchases (depending on the info) on the first and I don't want to spend more than I need to, since I am on a budget

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  Před 7 lety

      Yes, it can be done! Be advised though that it gets tricky to avoid it adding light to the image since it cannot be angled/pointed away and if it is too diffused, the slave won't recognize the flash.

      Jesus Reina, You didn't get the transmitter for it (usually sold with radio transmitter)?
      If no transmitter.
      Turn camera's menus (flash off from ETTL)
      Turn on wireless IR (that's the red dome on top of Vision4)
      Set camera to "M"
      Set camera to "Sync" or lower number
      Pop-up the flash from T3i (make sure ETTL is off)

    • @angelisone
      @angelisone Před 6 lety

      Nega OnNix, you must make sure that you WILL NOT get pre-flash from your pop-up, in-built or on camera's hotshoe flash.
      ATG suggests to check for Pre-Flash (is it on or off):
      1. Well, heck the flash is on so quick, one can't tell, you say.
      2. Set camera to "M", not Av, Tv, S or P
      3. Set lens to "M" if you are new into photography
      4. Set Shutter to 250 or 200 (Flash Sync Speed)
      5. Press the camera's Shutter, can't tell right?
      6. Dial Shutter Speed down to 1 or 2 or 3 or more seconds
      7. Press Shutter, bet you can now see two flashes
      Again, ATG has advised from ATG Photo Clinics, was to make sure you disabled the ETTL II (TTL).
      Or all your images will be black (underexposed)
      Once the pre-flash (1st flash is the meter reading, 2nd flash is recorded)
      All ATG Gold & studio strobes see a flash, they will be fired.
      So if you removed the pre-flash, then all strobes will think the 2nd flashes is the first flash (as in wireless IR manual flashes)
      JP Morgans stated by tethered will work, but many children and amateur cameras DO NOT have ATG's 2.5mm, 3.5mm or PC Sync socket.
      In that case one can buy a cheap ATG/Yougnuo RF-603 set.
      You can mount a flash on the camera.
      And make sure to set the flash to manual.

    • @angelisone
      @angelisone Před 6 lety

      Nega OnNix, ATG came out with the world's first, in regarding to speedlite (Canon) or speedlight (Nikon) is the the ATG Auto2, ATG S1 and ATG S2 modes.
      My staff and I use ATG ETTL II/ITTL, Auto2, M, S1 & S2:
      ATG comes in many flavors:
      1. ATG/Jinbei
      2. ATG/Godox
      3. ATG/Nissin
      5. ATG/Quantum
      6. ATG/Neewer
      7. ATG/Yongnuo
      8. ATG/Interfit
      9. ATG/Profoto
      X. ATG/Flashpoint, Cheetah, Powerextra, Mcoplus
      If you are using Canon, have Yongnuo and want better lighting, don't buy Canon ST-E3-RT nor Canon 600EX-RT.
      Buy the ATG/Yongnuo YN-E3-RT and ATG/Yongnuo YN600EX-RT II.
      Can't tell you everything from here, because information are very overwhelming even for pros to understand.
      But quick facts from ATG's YN600EX-RT II:
      A. ATG dual transceivers (radio & IR)
      B. ATG Master/Slave ETTL II & ITTL
      C. ATG S1 and ATG S2
      D. Master ETTL II radio on camera
      E. Slave ETTL II radio off camera
      F. Master ETTL II IR
      G. Slave ETTL II IR
      H. Slave ITTL IR (it talks to Nikon SB-910/900/800 as a Slave)
      I. Slave S1 IR
      J. Slave S2 IR
