  • The carbs are finally removed and its time to rebuild them. A number of new parts have arrived including carb manifold rubbers, carb rebuild kits and a bunch of other small bits. The real work now begins with the end goal of being able to finally start the bike.

Love ya work mate. Just bought an mc22 and about to fiddle with her carbs. Your apprentice does a great job at holding the camera, I hope he gets paid well :)

Thats "loctite" stuff you were using isnt a thread locking compound , itll work but its mainly for creating a water/oil/air tight seal for water passages/air lines ect

Thanks for this. I'm about to get into the very mucky carbs on my MC22 and there's not a lot of support here in the US. I haven't toyed with carbs for years so this is a big help!

Yeah its not easy now to get good info. I spend ages searching around and found almost nothing at all. Its best to not separate the cards out when you do the rebuild unless there is an obvious leak as fitting them back togeather is a pain in the neck and they are hard to seal again. The service i do in the vid here is normally enough. Be careful not to damage the jets also when unscrewing them. Cool bikes and you will love it once its had a bit of love and care.

I have the 400rr, the butterfly values don't open in sync and there's no way to adjust this because the adjustment screws are maxed out. Is there something I'm missing, should there be a spring or another adjustment screw directly opposite. I.e two screws parallel, one for engagement from the top and one from bellow?

Now im Bamboozled. How is it possible ur not yelling at your son for tasks that he wasnt able to perform? Like holding the light at the specific angle or bringing the right tool without explicitly stating which one it should be? Helping my dad was always accompanied with severe emotional damage. Still is to this day.
Anyway this is perfect video for DIY moto mechanics. Isnt it more effective to use utrasonic devices to clear carbs and relevant parts of the engine?

Your quite right about using an ultrasonic cleaning machine, that's the most ideal way to do the job. It one thing I want to add to my arsenal of tools. I did yell on the odd occasion, it was my wife holding the camera, but mostly I filmed with a Tripod and 2 cameras.
