- I’m trying to grow as much as I can eat in a 15ft raised vegetable bed. This is part of my journey to becoming more self reliant. I’ve already taught myself Bushcraft and survival skills. Now I want to learn how I can grow my own vegetables to save money and become more self reliant on my own skills. Follow me on this journey!

Hello! I'm watching your video, have a nice day. You are garden beautiful❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉 I like you video.
So. You are a farmer too!👍👍
You're doing pretty good in your garden Mike.
Looks like you've got lots of ideas. I get being excited about wood that you processed yourself. It's an awesome feeling to see it become somthing you can use and enjoy.
Being a tree farmer makes one enjoy their crops even more such as firewood or timber for making things.
That's really cool stuff can't wait to see you do a cook up with your veg Mike
If you can find them, fagiolina del trasimeno peas are a wonderful heirloom crop to grow. They mature quickly and produce peas right until frost. These make a field pea, not a green pea, but they are delicious and highly nutritious. Since they vine you can grow them in a small space by letting them grow up a trellis. You have a lovely garden.
Brilliant video, I have started a bushcraft garden at camp and can't get over how exciting it is watching things grow 🙏
Having leaf lettuce spread around can help keep the weeds down. They block the sun making it harder for weeds to grow
I would second this advice and say it’s not just limited to leaf lettuce, most quick-growing, short crops work well.
Looks good, Mike! I got absolutely slammed with work and family stuff from April to June, so my garden is a little late this year as well, but still growing nicely! You really can't beat fresh lettuce. It took me a solid minute to realize those were zucchinis haha.
Mike, look for heirloom seeds, rather than generic packet seeds which may or may not come from genetically modified plants.
Also, SM3 is a great feed for them while they’re growing. You don’t need to use it while the plant is flowering. It’s a seaweed product that plants love, it’s great for roots.
Follow you from TA but never commented but have to say I feel so compelled to comment on this video for my first time. Gardening is a skill I hope you dive deep in! You teach and explain quite well and I appreciate your time and efforts. Greetings from across the pond ol boy
Many thanks!
great stuff mike there's nothing like fresh home grown veggies, my dad always had allotments, i'm looking forward to seeing what you make in the workshop
If you plant tomatoes, peppers and aubergines (and potatoes) close to each other, they compete for the same nutrients don't they? They are in the same family.
You have reminded me that I need to sow a second planting of lettuce and spinach.
Beautiful vegetable garden, Mike! I’ve done this type of tight sowing, we call it intensive gardening. It makes the most of a small space. If you make use of herbs, it would be nice to plant a small herb garden with annual and perennial herbs. I’m so happy for your kids that they have this to grow up with. Oh, in the US we pronounce the “cc” in zucchini as a “k.” Can’t tell you why. 🤷♀️
Everyone should get excited by fresh veggies and firewood! 🪴 🪵 😊Cheers!
Good work
Cheers
Looks nice!
The veg patch looks awesome and I can relate to growing vegetables since being brought up on a small holding. It's also particularly inspiring that Mike has so many active passions - bushcraft, survival skills, foraging, woodland management, fishing and gardening (and so the list goes on). I really enjoy learning from these videos and being inspired to try new things.
Awesome, your vegetables and garden set up looks good! It's a great feeling growing your own vegetables. I am mainly growing potatoes this year but also have a courgette plant as well, and already harvested spring onions and lettuce. :)
Great vegetable garden there, Mike. I love zucchini, can't have success with eggplants, all the different pumpkins and squashes are favorites as well as all the different peppers. Ah windy weather, the biggest frustration for most of us when trying to film. Looking forward to all your workshop projects. 👍
Looks like your doing a bit of squire foot gardening there Mike. How about using IBC totes rather than loads of little water buts You could then grow your cucumber over them in the summer to hid them or put your tomatoes plants in front of them and use them for supports. Why oh why can't we keep sheds tidy looking forward to the tidy up and your future projects
Nice garden. About the same size as mine. The big difference is mine is about half potatoes. Thanks for the video.
Do you use the flower stuffed with ricotta, soft goats cheese and herbs(you can use a little finely chopped chilli) dipped in batter and deep fried.
that was the first thing I thought of when he showed off the zucchini flowers, those are delicious.
3:20 Zucchini: ZOO-KEY-KNEE
If you want to know how we say it.
10k
on the way
Enjoyed this! Did you have much problem with slugs?
Man looks good. My raised beds are doing terrible this year. 😢
I think you might have overdone it with 4 pumpkin plants Mike. They trail about 10 feet. Great to see you have a new channel as well as the Outdoors one. Will you be showing your woodland videos on here or TA Outdoors may I ask?
I have four types of squash, courgettes, fuji, and some other but the pumpkin plants are twice as big (leaves)!
Cool Mike you have any corn growing man.
No sign of any slug or snail damage .How do you keep those critters at bay Mike?
Mate…absolutely loving your channels, I would love to get this sorted where I live, Though Unfortunately the place is under an infestation of seagulls…and I feel they would just devour them all 🤦♂️
Thanks! A lot of how I’ve learnt is through trial and error. You never know until you give it a go!
@@LifeofMikeOfficial I will give it a go, and will be armed with a Super Soaker Water Gun…and hopefully that keeps them away haha!
Zoo-keenie
Ha ha ha that looks like a zucchini to me😂❤❤❤
Can you grow anything in the woods?
In the US, spell zucchini, pronounce zoo-key-knee
severa countries use the italian for marrow, and several use the french for marrow, it seems quite random, its the same thing
What did you do as a job before CZcams Mike? You look like a sparky or chippy 😉
