I have only discovered the knitting community about 3 years ago. I was so excited to find podcasts of knitting and have learned so much about yarn and patterns! It has become as much of a "hobby" for me as knitting!
The online knitting community means a lot to me. I have lots of fun spending time with lovely podcasters while I knit along myself. It’s so inspirational to see so many people enjoying the craft I love! ❤
Knitting whilst watching knitting podcasts is total therapy for me. It lifts my mood, makes me feel part of a worldwide community and makes me proud of my creations.
I love the knitting community in real life and online, I love finding someone who has made the same thing you’ve made and then going through all the other things they’ve made and discovering more to add to your “to make” list!!
It is the greatest feeling when you see a knitter on CZcams from the other side of the world knitting the same as you are, or reading the same book or listening to the same song ❤
The online knitting community has been a game changer for my knitting. I’ve learned so many new to me techniques, found resources to help, and discovered so many incredible patterns. It’s rekindled my love and of knitting and given me a creative outlet.
Started knitting about a year and half ago and have found the knitting community to be very welcoming and supportive. I see lots of encouragement and appreciation of everyones work and excitement when they find a fellow knitter out in public. I see myself doing the same when i notice a familiar pattern being worn or just notice someone working on a project. Very glad to have stumbled upon this community, where people can appreciate the time and effort that goes into hand made projects.
My favourite part of the knitting community is that at my knit group I can be sat next to someone my age or younger or lots older and we get on fabulously regardless of age, just discussing what we are making and what we are doing generally. I love it :)
This is such a sharing community - whether it is sharing encouragement, help, ideas or even products...so generous in all ways. And it's so nice to see the community being promoted first and foremost. Thanks for the lovely video 💖
I love the virtual community of knitters here on CZcams , from whom I’ve learned so much! I’ve spent many a long winter evening in their company. It’s a great way to feel connected with others who share a love of knitting!
Thanks for taking us along! What a fun festival. One of the best things about the knitting community is that we have this love for the craft and the fibers in common. I love being out in public, knitting, and meeting fellow knitters. We’re not strangers to each other!
I’ve been knitting for many years, but I got bit by the knitting bug in 2019 and discovering a knitting community on CZcams. Since it’s challenging to get to a local knit night, I really appreciate getting to hear other knitters talk about the yarn and their projects and just generally share the love of the craft whilst I knit. It’s a good outlet since no one in my really world is as excited about knitting as I am!
The online knitting community is very inspiring and helpful. A special thank to your for fostering this community and for the advent calendar swap with which I met a very nice knitting friend IRL!
The knitting community is brilliant for bringing a handful of strangers together and making them friends. When you knit, there's always a conversation starter if you find socialising hard. If you have long term health issues and can't always socialize in person. The online knitting community is always there for you.
I love the online knitting community, they’re always quick to comment and to help if you’re stuck! Watching youtube vids really is an outlet and makes me feel less alone in my nerdiness over yarn.
I find that the knitting community worldwide is awesome!! Knitters love to share tips, patterns etc. freely. We always have things in common to talk about and inspirations to aspire to!
I love the knitting community, my in person community made blankets for the earthquake victims here in Turkey, also love the on line community, keep me connected with what’s going on around the work crafting wise. Thanks for all your contributions to this amazing community, best wishes Frances
Hi! I love the knitting community on CZcams. I started my own channel last year because I don’t have friends or family that knit or crochet. I wanted to talk about my projects, my wins and difficulties and I found my place here. I’m really grateful for the people in this community! Can’t wait to go to my first fiber festival! Thank you for sharing the yarn!
The friends I have made in the knitting community are some of my nearest and dearest kindred spirits! I love that you create community around yourself and your patterns xxx
I am an American expat in Stockholm (we’ve been here a year and a half). We travel all over Europe a lot, which gives me the chance to see different yarn stores and festivals everywhere we go! It never ceases to amaze me that no matter the country or culture, the knitting community is so engaging, supportive, and beautiful! I can’t wait to see the yarn shops in Edinburgh in July! Your video has convinced me to go to the “Woolly Good Gathering” festival next year!
I love your designs - very wearable. Yeah, it was be nice, strange, and rewarding to see you design that you have poured your heart and soul into being worn by another person. What a lovely yarn festival you shared. It is great to see this pop up in such a great city!
I found it friendly too. I loved that it was perfectly normal for us to stare, touch and comment on what each other was wearing. We all had an easy gateway into a conversation with a like minded stranger. Going back outside afterwards into the real world was actually kinna sad.
I absolutely love my knitting community. My fellow knitters are so generous with their time and knowledge. We always have something to talk about. I’ve made some amazing friends through the art of knitting.
It was lovely to see what The Wooly Good Gathering was all about, thank you for sharing Rebecca. I have only been knitting for a year but the online knitting community have made it fun to learn all about this wonderful craft. 😊
My knitting community mostly revolves around my aunt who taught me how to knit socks. Every few weeks we get together with our basket full of projects and share what we are making over a coffee and cake. Those are some of the happiest moments of my life and I am super grateful for it 😊
I love the yarny community! My yarn shop in California has wool gatherings each Friday morning and Sunday afternoon - informal drop-in style - bring a project, hang out and work on it. We talk about everything and nothing - what we watched on Netflix, what we are making, what we are making for dinner, etc. I love it and it is such a great community!
I definitely appreciate both the online knitting community and the in person knit nights in my city. It’s always a great feeling to connect with someone and to be able to geek over knitting and wool.
I gather with some women who are 60-68 years old every Sunday. We are advanced knitters always challenging each other our skills. More importantly we support each other in major events in our lives and are good friends! I was a transplant to where I live in 2017 and finding new knitting friends was hard. I am really grateful for this group!
I really enjoyed seeing the festival - thanks Rebecca. The online knitting community has been an inspiration and an amazing support in helping to improve my knitting skills and realise mistakes are part of the journey. I’m lucky that a great new yarn shop has opened up locally and the knit nights there have been a lovely way to connect with knitters in person. 😊
Hi from NZ. Absolutely love the online knitting and crafting community. So relaxing to watch while knitting my projects where I can learn so much and get lots of ideas from others. It’s like knitting with friends!
The comminuty is by far the best aspect of being a knitter. Being at a festival and making friends whether you're at a workshop or standing in the toilet queue. Wherever you go having people ask what you're wearing or knitting. Always happy to share their knitting expertise or foibles. Knitters are just the best. ❤
I find the online knitting community so inspiring and has helped revive my love of knitting. I have found it has given me the push to do projects the I would previously considered to be out of my comfort zone.
What a beautiful and cool building to have a yarn festival in! I went to my first yarn festival in Minnesota, USA, and met a delightful group of knitters and sat knitting and chatting with them for a few hours! I love the knitting community so much ❤
I do love the 24/7 access to the online community. I can knit with podcast friends when I need to and am encouraged by what others make. it's a great supplement to a live group. the festival looked great! thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing this awesome experience with us! It looks like it was a lot of fun. Fiber festivals are always so much fun! I absolutely adore the fiber/knitting community. I started out crocheting back in 2016 and finally started knitting in 2020. I made my own podcast in November of 2022 a month after having my first baby and I felt so welcomed. Everyone is so kind and encouraging and welcoming! It’s also just so fun to watch other podcasters and feel like you’re talking with a friend. I feel all the same and cozy feels, probably because this is a warm and cozy craft lol! 💕
I haven't been knitting for long, only a year and a bit however I am blown away by the knitting community support. Knitting for me has massively helped my mental health, it's my therapy. Sitting down with my current project and watching my favourite podcasters is like a hug after a long work day ❤
I am in Canada and the knitting community here is so inclusive and welcoming. I was able to attend Knit City Toronto this past weekend and it had workshops, speakers, a marketplace, and a sit and knitting space. It was so inspiring to see everything and everyone. My favourite part is chatting with attendees.
I LOVE the online knitting group/community I am part of. I look forward to that time every week. The vibe is super supportive, respectful and welcoming. In addition, like yourself, there are so many wonderful knitting/crocheting/making podcasters that I enjoy spending time with. Truly inspirational and comforting. Especially after a long day at work. Wishing you all the best. ❤
Your knitting community is amazing! I would come just to see that beautiful building this was held in! What I enjoyed most about watching this was all the seating for the knitting community! I am going to my first yarn festival in about 4 years! I am so excited! Not so much for the marketplace but more for the people! To me when I have gone to my past festivals it reminds me of an adult Disneyland! Everyone is happy and smiling! So very glad this festival has come back to Edinburgh for you!
I‘m always inspired by seeing other peoples projects and hearing about their experiences when knitting! I‘m so glad that knitting podcasts are a thing and I can see so many peoples knitting projects, I just love it!
What a wonderful space and gathering! 🧶 🧡. Just great to see all your beauties together! Congrats! 🎉😊. Now I’ve got FOMO for the Wooly Good Gathering!!
For me, it's the local knitting community I love the most. I was asked by someone thirty years younger than I to be the experience they needed to start a local knit night. I met people so much younger, but because of our love of knitting, and crafting in general, we had a starting point to share experiences, and found in the process that there was much more we shared. Since then, the group has grown and changed, both in number and in age range, but still brings joy to us all.
I have so so many things I love about the knitting community. I made a really good friend through the La Mercerie Sock Swap who I’ve been able to meet in person - if it weren’t for knitting we’d never have interacted and now we send each other cards, birthday gifts, and get together for the occasional video chat knit night. Yesterday was my birthday and I met someone at work (I work at an ecolodge and she was a guest), and she’s a knitter and we had the BEST chat about what podcasts we watch and what we are knitting on - it was the highlight of my birthday. I rarely get to interact with other knitters in person so finding people online who share the same love and passion for creating makes me feel so connected. I am so grateful to the content creators that go out of their way to bring us all together and give us a sense of community regardless of where we are in the world. I love being introduced to new yarns from all over the world as well - I went to Scotland last summer to see some family and I picked up some Kinross 4ply due to your recommendation and it made me so happy that I had the chance to try it out myself.
Thank you for your recap, brilliant to see your experiences of the festival! I'm very lucky to have met fellow knitters on my PhD course and we host regular knit nights, and have successfully converted most of our office into learning knitting and crochet! I started out learning knitting on my own and ever since I started to socialise with fellow knitters and to share my passions, it's made me fall in love with the craft all over again! Like you said, Wooly Good Gathering was a fantastic space for building communities of knitters and since then our knitting circle has connected us with knitters all over Scotland, and I hope we'll be doing knit nights together soon!
I love the knitting community (both online and in real life). Knitters are so friendly and inspiring. I love to encourage others to try knitting and help them the way that I was encouraged and helped. ❤
I am so happy there is such a wonderful online community these days as my knit time is often during my daughters nap time so I’m stuck at home. Thanks for all the wonderful knitting content!
I love how disability-friendly and intergenerational the knitting community is! I learned to knit from my Nana, and I've gotten to meet other people like me who use knitting to deal with chronic pain. I recently taught my mom how to knit, and it's been fun seeing her discover a lot of my favorite yarns and designers.
I love being part of the knitting community through online knitting vlogs. You are one of my favorites to knit with and I tend to save the episode for when I can truly enjoy your beautiful designs and your joyful personality! 😊
Thanks for taking us with you. Really appreciated. My community is CZcams, I learned knitting by watching videos and I am still doing that every time I need to learn a new technique. Love it. ❤
I have found the knitting community very encouraging and I love how easy it is to talk to people internationally :) Podcasts are my favorite part - I love hearing in detail about projects and what life looks like for different people ♥
My favorite aspect of the knitting (and spinning) community is the generosity of spirit shown by all of its members. Everyone is so willing to help the rest of the group with ideas etc. to help everyone achieve their goals. So great of you Rebecca to help foster this new festival. Hope it remains successful and grows.
The online knitting community is great - a fantastic place to share ideas and inspiration and it has really helped me enjoy a hobby I have had for years….so much more ❤
Knitting and crochet really helped me during my masters, I made an incredible friend who also loves fibre arts and it was a great way to decompress after long days writing our disses! We still keep each other updated on our projects now, sharing techniques and hyping each other up, and it's so wonderful to have her ❤
Thanks for bringing us along to the Wooly Gathering! I love the on-line knitting community because I really don’t know many “real life” knitters. That’s likely because I live in a warmer climate. I can just imagine we are knitting together over a cup of tea. I told my husband that if we go to Scotland (as we have been contemplating), we have to go at the time of the Wooly Gathering. His immediate response was “that would be fun!” He is a keeper, now isn’t he!! Maybe in a few years I’ll travel the 5,000+ miles to get there! 🤗
I never went to a knitting or yarn festival. Nobody around me knit. But I follow many podcasters that inspires me as a knit! Thank you for making us visit that lovely wool festival and for brignig us with you when you travel !
I live on Kent Island, the gateway to the Eastern Shore of Maryland USA. The festivals I attend are Rhinebeck and the maryland sheep and Wool festival, this year for the first time I attended yarncentric and I met so many great podcasters. A real thrill! CZcams is such a great community not only to learn techniques via tutorials, but to explore and learn about the communities of each podcaster. My husband is from Stonehaven Scotland, and he enjoys watching the Scottish podcasts and hearing the brogue and sometimes seeing the landscape of their communities. We’ve enjoyed your podcast from day one!🏴 Well done Rebecca!❤
I very much enjoy the CZcams knitting community and thoroughly enjoy my knitting time now while watching a knitting video! The Creabea Knitting Podcast is one of my favourites! ♥
I love the knitting community! I have dabbled in lots of crafts and other communities aren't always as giving or willing to help. Most of the people I have met at a knit night or yarn store are so nice and generous with their talents.
Finding an online community on Facebook rekindled my knitting mojo and inspired me to find a class near me where I’ve met a really fun, talented group of women. Knitting along while watching my favorite CZcamsrs makes a solitary interest soooo much more fun and helps me find beautiful yarns and patterns that I may never have discovered otherwise.
I am lucky as not only do I have a LYS that does Knit and Natter sessions 3 days a week, but since joining Ravelry British Banter group, have met many others IRL. This weekend am now travelling in a group to Riverknits Open Day as a direct result. Without the knitting community I would not have had this varied social interaction, so thank to ALL all that put so much time and effort to keep us sane in the post Covid world.
So exciting!! I lost my dad two years ago. I had my mom move in with me and I needed something to lift my spirits. I had crocheted for years but decided to give knitting a try. I LOVE it. I went to a local fiber shop in our downtown and found my people!!! I started going to knit nights and then started to find all the wonderful knitting channels on CZcams. I love watching your videos and appreciate your style and your upbeat personality. I would love to knit with the sea glass yarn. I live in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. Thanks for sharing the new festival. 😊
I went to my very first knitting community event at Knit City Toronto this weekend. It was wonderful to meet so many of my favorite CZcams podcasters and knitwear designers. They were so warm and friendly, just as they are online. I got to meet so many wonderful fellow knitters at the marketplace, bought beautiful yarn and I was so happy to be part of such a lovely knitting community! Looking forward to attending another one hopefully soon 😊
I have yet to develop a group of local friends in knitting, but feel so blessed that there are people like you sharing your designs and adventures and making me feel like I am part of the community. It is so nice to have a virtual place to chill and knit and feel like I'm not alone, Thank you for this. 💖
Thanks for sharing your festival recap! I love my knitting friend group but I am also happy about the CZcams knitting Community! Always so much inspiration ❤
I reconnected with a childhood friend through knitting after we both got back into knitting during the pandemic. Even though we no longer live near each other, we have been able to bond over each other’s WIPs, FOs, and your videos. I finally got to see her in person after more than 25 years at my local yarn store.
Community is really important. Online is great but in-person is even better. Last winter four or five lovely knitters in New Brunswick Canada planned a knitting getaway. We had a huge room what starts as 15-20 friends grew to 100+. We knit, we chatted, we ate good food and enjoyed each others company. There were a few vendors on the Saturday afternoon ( mostly people attending who also sold things etc). By Saturday evening we were so relaxed and it was a perfect weekend. Best of all it was accessible to everyone. We split the cost of the big room so it was a very low fee for the whole weekend plus food and accommodation if you chose to stay at the hotel. They certainly are my people and we all made new friends of every age and all different fibre crafts. I highly recommend doing social activities with other crafters/knitters!
This was a great episode. I loved seeing all the knitters gathered to knit and visit. The knitting community is definitely full of of lovely, giving and supportive people I am proud to call friends. Thank you Rebecca for all you bring to us.
I started knitting during the pandemic, initially joined an online group started by my LYS, now, several of us continue to meet regularly to knit in a local park. So fortunate to enjoy such a supportive, encouraging community - both IRL and online. The fibre community really is the best!
Great video! Loved watching your excitement. The knitting community means so much as a connector for me. I'm a fairly new crocheter although I have knit for a while and have learned so much from the community members who generously share their talent. I'm also excited to connect to local folks as part of a charity that makes blankets for ill and needy children. ❤
I don't think there is anything like the online knitting community- its been so great connecting with people that I wouldn't normally meet in real life - and so inspiring to see what other people create!
I am very lucky that I have a fabulous local yarn store and the community that comes with it in my life. I always get inspiration and motivation from the people who gather at my LYS. The online knitting community means just as much to me because they keep me company during long hours of knitting.
Although I have been knitting for many years, I just recently found the online community. I absolutely love to watch and listen to your podcasts and other knitting podcasters while knitting. Thank you sharing the knitting festival. I love when you and other podcasters take us to yarn festivals all over the world! I so enjoy the various vendors and yarns! I look for inspiration within the online community and all the recommendations and suggestions on knitting needles and projects. You make my knitting live so much easier, exciting and colorful. I definitely stretch my knitting skills with each project!
The online knitting community has brought me much joy, encouragement and practical advice. I love it! I have yet to attend a proper wool festival so I appreciate your sharing of the Woolly Good Gathering. And, a festival with a feature of a gin and tonic is over-the-top. Early April 2025 will be a fabulous time to visit Edinburgh. PS. Just before viewing your podcast I was reading the pattern and preparing my swatch for your Tolsta Tee. Thank you for your fabulous patterns.
Loved your podcast. Your enthusiasm shines through. This episode was a unique behind the scene look at a Fibre Festival. Definitely suffering from FOMO. And how generous of you to offer your goody bag yarn as a give away!
The online knitting community was what first helped me really find my knitting mojo! Since then I have made some fantastic friends and joined a local group of amazing crafty people! I have also really enjoyed the knitting podcasts on youtube, getting to hear what others are making, what yarn they are using has really helped inspire some of my own projects!
In general, my experience with the knitting community is that folks are generous, open and inclusive, supportive, whether in person, virtually or through social media access. I find so much learning and inspiration through all those avenues. I have come out of my knitting shell moreso over the past couple of years and I am grateful for all the people who have encouraged/been encouraging whether directly or by default. The community is really a wonderful place and I say would benefit anyone who is interested in knitting and enters the realm!
Community of knitters is so important to me. I have a wonderful LYS and they host several events during the year such as LYS day, WWKIP day and a big sale for Black Friday shopping (day after American thanksgiving day). We are more than just local, though! Our Tuesday night knitting Zoom has knitters from across the state. Tuesday was started during the PHE and we kept it going because it includes people from farther away as well as a few that can’t travel for personal or health reasons. Last fall a few of us travelled to Rhinebeck and had a great time. These ladies are more than my knitting buddies-they are my friends within the knitting community and we support one another through life’s ups and downs.
Knitters are such great people. I recently found myself away from home and family and went into the local yarn shop to just feel good and find some new yarn. There was a group of ladies gathering for a knitting group and welcomed me with open arms to sit with them and knit. They are mostly all retired but that doesn’t matter. When you are a fellow knitter, age doesn’t mean anything. What matters is the shared connection and the kindness that is shared. ❤
I’ve been knitting for 2 years and I love the online community as well as visiting my LYS- there’s a shared interest there already and it’s a great way to make friends online and ITL. Everyone I’ve met has been so kind and helpful! ❤
The knitting community is so helpful and supportive. So glad I have found a place in it!
I have only discovered the knitting community about 3 years ago. I was so excited to find podcasts of knitting and have learned so much about yarn and patterns! It has become as much of a "hobby" for me as knitting!
I find the knitting community inspirational. I enjoy following the designers and makers of all the beautiful knitting projects and everything craft.

Knitting whilst watching knitting podcasts is total therapy for me. It lifts my mood, makes me feel part of a worldwide community and makes me proud of my creations.
I find the knitting community online a living place of pure creativity and magical inspiration. My comfort zone 🩵
I love the knitting community in real life and online, I love finding someone who has made the same thing you’ve made and then going through all the other things they’ve made and discovering more to add to your “to make” list!!

Knitting community is so full of lovely people, inspirational and motivational. Love watching knitting podcasts while knitting. Kisses from România!
The knitting community is soo great! Getting to see other parts of the world and all the fabulous yarns available worldwide!!❤❤😊😊

The knitting community is not replaceable ... I have learned joy, love and self acceptance, along with tons of knowledge !!! I love your vest !!!
I love the online knitting community, they’re always quick to comment and to help if you’re stuck! Watching youtube vids really is an outlet and makes me feel less alone in my nerdiness over yarn.

I enjoy the knitting community on CZcams. This is where I find so many new pattern inspirations to knit.
LOVE the online knitting community. I love traveling, so I love seeing what people around the world are making and wearing.
The knitting community online is inspiring, podcasts, Raverly everyone is always there to help and support.
I love the knitting community, my in person community made blankets for the earthquake victims here in Turkey, also love the on line community, keep me connected with what’s going on around the work crafting wise.

I love that I'm able to learn this amazing craft from resources online and getting lots of inspiration from the knitting/crochet community
❤
I would love a knitting community with people to meet up in real life but the online community has given me great joy and inspiration!
I love teaching people to knit. I have taught many many people over my 30+ years of knitting. It's a great way to build connections and community.
I love drawing my inspiration from the knitting community! So many people creating such beautiful objects! I can hardly keep up!!
I love that in so many cities there are knit nights that you can join and feel included in, whether its your local or you're just visiting.
Thanks Rebecca, I love the fact the fact that you're never short of something to talk about when meeting other knitters.
