- Sheila bought me a DJI Mavic Pro drone for my birthday.
After taking two days to read all the manuals, learn the control system and different modes, fly the simulator, pass the safety quiz, memorise the UK CAA rules about flying drones for non-commercial purposes, read the Worcester area specific no-fly zones, advisories and limitations...
...it was time to try a first flight...
Enjoy the new toy! Blue Skies and Happy Landings!
I bet that was more nerve racking than setting up a few Amazon dots etc.! Watch out for becoming a 'drone widow', Sheila. xxx
See my answer to John Evans. It's not something to be taken lightly, for sure.
Having fun? 😁
Oh yes. :-)
Hi this is Benedict ☺️
HI, Ben. Nice to have you watching. :-)
What kind of bloke are you? Read the manuals indeed.......!! And all the other stuff is just poppycock to stop you having fun like talking the nice policeman, spending the night in jail, having your new toy confiscated......er.....ok, maybe better to read the poppycock after all.
Exactly. This piece of kit is sooo complex, there is so much to learn ... then we add all the CAA rules, so you fly within the law (and the nice policeman does NOT take away my new toy) ... I am still reading stuff today and learning more. I'll give you the demo (if you want) next time you are around these parts.
In the meantime, I'm compiling my own checklist. It starts...
Check AirMap for No-fly zones etc.
Check Sport Mode set to OFF on right side of controller.
Compass OK? Recalibrate? (Aircraft Status Bar - Calibrate . . .)
Home Point recorded? Aircraft status indicator blinks rapidly.
Set a Failsafe Altitude (100ft.?)
Check controls set to Mode 2
Check gimbal is in FPV Mode
... and so on! :-)
