  • How sensors prevent you from making a common mistake.
Basically, most systems use the ultrasonic sensors in the rear bumper - the same ones that beep and buzz when reverse parking - or rear-mounted radars to detect when another car is either beside you or approaching in an adjacent lane

I feel automations like these just make people more lazy and stupid on the road. Now 'new drivers' are learning to rely on these technologies rather than using their eyes.

Technologies instruments like those "allow" drivers to be on their phones making calls and texting while driving. "allow" between quotation marks because it's not why it's made for, it's made only to assist.

These are assistance features just like a reversing camera. On my new car it has blind spot monitoring and it is very nice assistance feature. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be aware of your surroundings anymore or not turn your head when changing lanes.

What I’ve seen is people stopped using turn signals so they don’t get constantly buzzed or beeped at by the blind spot monitor

I would say it is a nice assistance feature. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be aware of your surroundings or not turn your head when changing lanes. If people can’t drive with these features then they shouldn’t have a license. But holy crap I turned of the blind spot alarm on my new car. I don’t need the car to make an audible sound everytime a flick my indicator……
