    Sorry for the poor audio on this film. Unfortunately the record had a chip missing on it's perimeter and thus I was unable to record audio from the first 6 slides.

    I owned 4 Mopars over the years. Two Roadrunners and two Cudas. At the time I was wrenching on cars and to this day those cars were the best engineered. They were easy to work on and reliable. Loved them and wish I still had them.

      But as the A and B bodies racked up miles they would loose their ride and the steering would get loose and sloppy. I had a hand me down 65' Barracuda, had a 69 Road Runner, my Grandmother had a 68' Coronet, my mother had a 73 Dodge Dart and they all did that. My uncle had a 65' or 66' Ply Fury/C Body and his car maintained its ride much better at high miles. The GM and Ford cars did not seem to lose their ride quality.

    Thank you for sharing this. I worked as a mechanic for a Ford dealership from 1983 to 2006. Ford used to have similar videos for their sales staff in the 1980s and 1990s; eventually, the training moved online. The service department had similar videos to watch as part of new feature training each year.
    What really cracked me up was the sales training videos would compare similar models such as the Mustang and Camaro. It would go into great detail about how superior the Mustang is to the Camaro. That was all fine and dandy until someone traded in a Camaro on a new car. You would then hear the used car sales staff tell interested customers what a superior car the Camaro is. Its all about money.
    I spent 23 years in retail repair at the Ford dealership. One thing I can share with people is the best car to buy is the one YOU like and can afford; whether its GM, Ford, Mopar, Toyota, Nissan, or any other. If you really like a particular car and can afford it, do your research; if its a suitable car for you, buy it. Just because someone else doesn't like the car isn't a good reason not to buy it, they aren't the ones making the payments. I have owned a lot of cars over the years; three GM products, three Ford products, two Mopars, a BMW, and a Lexus. I enjoyed every one of them.

    • @1234597114
      @1234597114 Před rokem +3

      And yet Ford and especially Chevy outsold them 3 to 1, while generally being more expensive, and there was a reason for that. Brand loyalty is one thing, but to the general public it means nothing.
      Mopar didn’t roast anyone! How many times have they almost closed the doors? Build quality was horrible and that is a common known fact.
      GM and Ford were intentionally sized as they were. They were more personally sized, and it was the right choice as sales shown.
      Styling is subjective and Mopar had very nice styling in the late 60’s to early 70’s and had good drivetrains, but so did everyone else. Chevelle, LeMans, Cutlass, Skylark and Fairlanes were gorgeous, more refined and had better switch gear and interior styling. Most Mopar interiors looked like a school bus.
      It’s not my intention to poo poo on Mopar, I like them in general. I take exception to the fan boy approach on both sides and point out the facts.
      The 68-70 Charger and Fury are some of the best styled cars ever in my opinion, were they better cars than the Fords or GM? No. I do lament that GM banned engines larger than 400 in the mid size and smaller cars until right at the end of the muscle car era, but, they still sold them by the hundreds of thousands.
      Hemi’s, turbines, wild paint colors and winged cars were cool and I liked them, but were money losers and had no real positive effect on the company bottom line. Ford and GM had those types of things and more in their engineering departments, but correctly decided against producing them.
      Of the Big three GM was the most conservative, and I think ruled by the bean counters too much. The innovations they produced were more real world. Let’s step back and not let our egos rule the day!

They had to put a base-model Chevy up against one of their nicest plymouths for the plymouth to still come out looking like grandma's grocery getter.
