I used that method with mixed results. Most people searching for how to solder stainless steel to copper don’t have your skill set and will likely fail the first few hundred 😅times. If you haven’t used RUBYFLUIDSS yet, you might wanna give it a go. RUBY is 100 times easier IMO, it will allow that solder to be pulled down into the joint by capillary action like both are copper. But if this works for folks then by all means. Rubyfluidss amazing stuff. Great video however, and thanks for sharing.
Funny you mention that. I’ve got a guy working for me I’m currently training. I had him try this right out of the gate. Didn’t go great. It’s been a couple months and quite a bit of copper to copper solder so I decided to revisit this. Still didn’t go to great. I literally said to him. “Ya know, I’ve gotta remember I’ve been doing this almost 10 years cause in my brain I think it’s cut and dry and anyone can do it” Lol not really the case I’m finding 😂 This process couldn’t be easier for me. Issues are very rear. But I’ll look into Ruby cause I’m always looking for and open to anything that can tweak the process for the better. ESPECIALLY if it helps guys I’m trying to train. Thank you
@@copperstillco it’s a challenge to get it with anything else. I tried staysilv 45! 56, using phos bronze, bought a tig machine, Oxy acetylene and found then ruby.it’s was a game changer for me.
Hi! I have a job where i have to solder 155mm, 1.5mm wall stainless tube to a bunch of cast bronze that has been machined. Most of the parts come out really nice as they are quite light. Unfortunately there’s a piece of cast bronze that is close to 25kg, the pipe goes about 60mm inside it. That piece gives me a tough time, recently had 1 crack/come loose from the stainless pipe. The solder i use is Sn96.5 , Ag3.0 , Cu0.5. The flux i use is CA Fluid 801. If you could maybe suggest something as the failed piece had ~30% area where the solder didn’t grab the stainless steel.
@@joosepmee6917 I’ve only worked with the solder, stainless, copper you see in this video. So, I’m not really qualified to give you that answer. Wish I had good info for you but thanks for asking!
I think the average person still has trouble with this way. At least it has sounded like it to me. I assume you can use the same process just with your solder / flux
@@djomen8432 yes there was flux added. That being said it does appear that little is drawn into the fitting but I can assure you there was plenty ! If you were to look on the bottom side you’d see the solder makes it was all the way through. Matter of fact I have to have it on a solid surface otherwise it drips out! Which is a pain cause you then have to file or wire brush it off just so you can clamp to another fitting. The flow of solder quite fast and substantial from what I’ve seen.

was fluxx added to the components before soldering because it looks like none of the solder was drawn into the fitting
