  • **Review of the Oxford Brogues here: • Product Review: Becket...
    I was sent a pair of handmade shoes by Beckett Simonon, the Valencia Wholecuts in Black Calfskin, which retails currently for $199 (usually $300).
    I provide a detailed review and comparison with other shoemakers (Cole Haan, Carven, Christian Louboutin and Bally) with a try-on portion at the end.
    You can check out their website at: beckettsimonon.com

    love the increased amount of videos lately! keep it up Phil!

    I have this shoe but in brown. It is very high quality and a comfortable shoe. I recieve a ton of compliments and people think this shoe is priced way higher than I paid for it. I will definitely order again

    Great video. A trick I use to keep my black shoes looking rich is to use some navy blue cream polish in the polishing process.

    I love how you introduce new (unfamiliar) brands lately. It's handsome shoes. Why everything looks expensive on you?

    I just ordered these and a single monk. These are about as formal as you can get - black oxford wholecuts. I'm hoping they are as nice as you say they are; I was a little skeptical with the low price and being made in Columbia but the reviews have been good.

    I would like to see a video comparing it to an other whole cut shoe side by side
    Nice shoes no the less!
    I love whole cut shoes they are not super popular so that make them stand out more definitely people will notice them!

      @SartorialPhil  Před 4 lety

      Right, I think whole cuts are in general more expensive (though possibly less sustainable) because you can't stitch together smaller (scrap) pieces of leather. I briefly show these with the brogues here: czcams.com/video/XNUFRoCUay8/video.html

    Compared to the loubitions price and quality the shoe holds up (I know the spikes add value but like the Becketts are still cheaper) A nice and clean design from Beckett. Love me a pair of them and they suit you.

      @SartorialPhil  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks! Part of it is going to depend on if you can get past the non-designer name brand. Otherwise, yeah the quality is quite nice

    I'm cuirous on how many creases will there be in a wholecut leather shoe?

    • @adamcuthbert9498
      @adamcuthbert9498 Před 3 lety

      You can minimize creasing by storing your shoes with cedar shoe trees between wears and treating the leather with a leather conditioner every 2 weeks to 2 months depending on your climate and how often you are wearing them.

      @@adamcuthbert9498 I have plastic shoe trees from Amazon. Will that help or do I need cedar only ?

    • @adamcuthbert9498
      @adamcuthbert9498 Před 2 lety

      @@mannydodge8534 Plastic ones will help maintain the shape but the benefit of Cedar is that it will help wick the excess moisture and smell from sweating in your shoes, giving them more longevity.
