Plasmatics - CBGB (NY, July 26, 1978 - June 9, 1979)

- This historic, if raw, very early videos were shot at CBGB and capture the Plasmatics. During these earliest of shows the band was a 3 piece, before the power hitter Wes Beech was added to the lineup.
Wendy’s proclivity for provocative fashion is already evident here where she wears completely clear see-through vinyl pants and on top the first Plasmatics T shirt ever printed. The first show was recorded live along with the whole set and then mixed down and released as part of the first ever Plasmatics recording “Butcher Baby” released on Vice Squad Records, a label Plasmatics creator Rod Swenson founded to give the band an early record release because a lot of out of town venues where he wanted to book the group wanted a group to have a record.

I just came across my 1981 ticket stub that Wendy signed... RIP! She was a monster on stage, and a sweetheart in person :)
I would have it professionally framed.
She was so nice in person ! I had her sign my Creem Magazine with her as the "Creem Dream" inside. Ritchie Stotts was very nice too.
Wendy and The Plasmatics forever! Thank you for posting these shows! If you put ‘em on dvd or Blu ray I’ll be first in line to buy.
I’m right there with ya for any and all video from 78 to 81 or 82, whenever the Beyond The Valley Of 1984 tour finished, although I find myself liking stuff from the record after, Metal Priestess I think it might be.
CBGB was a sick filthy club. I had so much fun there. The rest room was a sight to see.. Ugh.
Good times.. My band played there once.. I think i barfed on my bass amp ... Dont remember much from those days..
……’epic’ band, never to be replicated. Rest easy kitten 💫😞
Black Leather Monster, Lunacy, 12 Noon, R.I.P. Wendy O Williams 🖤
Omg!! Amazing!!!!! Thank you!!!!
Long live Wendy’s sweet memory. She is deeply missed. xoxo The Clarences
Not many people could get away with transparent pants. Wendy could.
Wendy would be 73 years old, had she lived. I still miss her.
Same I would love to have met her. One of my biggest idols
Thank you for sharing 🙏💜
RIP Wendy 🙏❣️
😎I❤Wendy O & The Plasmatics

long Live Wendy 🔥🔥🔥
badass! 🤘👹🤘
Crazy how these song are so tru to this day a ledgend befor there time .
I really miss Wendy what a brilliant band the Plasmatics were,Rip Wendy.
When are the full shows starting?
Fantastic. Plasmatics would have been confrontational in any era and the 70's were definitely not ready for HER and THEM
come back Wendy...we know you are still alive.
Hell ya bring it!!
Thank you Ramones
Great upload 👍
I remember first time I saw them was on late night show call fridays it was like a SNL version of another network and their performance was extremely entertaining 😮
~~ back in the mid-90's - when Wendy was living & working near UCONN in Storrs Conn. - one place she worked for a while was a health food store in Manchester Conn. I did not know this until after I had seen her there. At the time - I did not fully recognize her - but I knew there was something about this somewhat morose-looking women working the aisles of the store where I bought supplements & teas. I think she was trying to remain as inconspicuous as possible in the store - but for a moment we did look at each other - and I could only think to myself; “where have I seen you before ?” I wish I had said hello - or something kind to her. I still share many of her beliefs about this world.
I only saw her sing on tv, and also went to that store in Manchester, CT, a few times. I never knew that woman there was her.
There's an interesting article about her in The Hartford Courant, that mentions her life after performing.
RIP.
How can you promote this as being a full show? There is 1 song from 1978 and 1 song from 1979. Both videos have always been available. I saw the Plasmatics for the first time at the Palladium in NYC in 1979. I never saw them at CBGBs and was looking forward to seeing a full show, not just 1 song. Very disappointing.
I would demand a refund..
😅

W.o.W. Forever
I still have my piece of wooden 2 x4 " - broken off the stage when she drove the white Cadillac into the water on the Pier in Sept. 1980 . I was a huge fan but somehow - things changed when she got the mohawk. (And later when she went 'metal") I saw many live PLASMATIC shows but one thing was really annoying: back in the 1980s - if you saw a band in a smallish club - the band did not go on until 1 AM !!! I had her tie from when she wore the catholic girl school uniform but I lost it. I was at the Bond's show, and they played at a CRAPPY small club here on Long Island called 2001 in Copaigue .Also MALIBU on Lido Beach . Do any locals remember that place ? News of Wendy's death was .. very quiet . Was it pre-internet ? Or on the cusp ? Lastly ; funny that the crowd at CBGBs looked ....so normal !
I WISH I still had my old BUTCHER BABY shirt made of super thin t-shirt fabric.
Let's go

Savoir fair is everywhere !!!!!!!
is this the first exclusive or is it a full gig ??
I don’t know what’s better: Lisa Leonard Dalton in ‘Hang On Sloppy’ or Wendy O Williams here or Blondie.
Amazing Music. Amazing Shows. Amazing Band. Amazing Band Name! Amazing..ummmm, "One-Two Fuck You!"
And now we have Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish. What a boring time to be young.
Maybe you have them, I have Amyl and the Sniffers🤘🏻
@@jayrum7303 And I have Metallica!
Don't be a hater. There's a time and place for everyone in this world. Your trash is someone else's treasure. And vice versa.
It's really pointless to compare apples to oranges. Or even red apples to Granny Smith apples.
@@supersquirrel7546 I don't recall saying anything hateful..I said boring. Better brush up on your comprehension skills.
TY very much, I loved & miss her dearly, the very day I saw & heard on the news when she died, I was crushed, just like the same exact day when Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy passed, I was devastated, but through the magic of yt, they're live Immortal & we can watched them there forever! \m/⁶⁶⁶♁⛧⸸☿🤘
They were the real deal. Rockers.
Ooh... a man wearing a dress onstage... Edgy, maa-an!
If Wendy was the girl next door I’d move .
3:31 FUNIHARA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm waiting for the chainsaw bit.
Too bad they were just a visual spectacle and didn't have any memorable songs as a foundation
Exactly.
"The Damned" is not memorable? Depends on what you've got between your ears.
Echter Schrott!
That's a man
No. It is 3 men. And W.O.W.
