In the age of ever-more-rapidly approaching electrification and automation, it's important to have a vehicular reset. The Audrain Veteran Car Tour is an opportunity to take over the streets of Newport, Rhode Island in 120-year old cars, to really feel what driving was like before standardization, before the idea of a car was really solidified, and before bodywork. Matt and Zack pilot a 1902 Yale 16HP Rear-Entrance Tonneau on a fifty mile drive and hope to get there in one piece.
The Audrain Museum provided airfaire, lodging, and the vehicle for this video.

Glad the embargo on the 1902 Yale is finally over. Next up, Canyon Drive One-Take.
Can't wait for Angeles Crest in the Rain
I literally did not stop smiling this entire video. We've got to look into veteran cars more.
This is definitely one of those anti CZcams videos where it wont get recommended but is the highest quality content around. This is looks like so much fun and I am super interested in attempting to do it one day and i will watch all content you create on this subject. The podcasts about these events are great for anyone who hasnt watched those yet.
Honestly so hyped from the thumbnail, I love how you guys cover veteran cars in a more carefree way
I feel like Matt just discovered historic rally racing.
Living in northern Italy next to the Dolomites we have many events and I’ve participated in some with my uncle.
There are guys here running 1929 Bugatti’s Type 35 in the middle of winter with studded tires and -15C up the mountains with a support van behind with literally a small lathe in case something brakes.
I needed this to soothe my mind after learning all the details about the new M5. Even in the first few minutes of the video, watching Matt and Zack pull off was such a little glimpse into what driving must have been like back then. No windows, no turn signals, you basically just had to yell/wave/tell other drivers you were there. Amazing and what a weirdly social way to drive.
Damn, youre right lol
New m5 is such a shame
This reminds me of the time my fiance and I rented a Fiat 500 from the 60's in Florence and I had just learned how to drive stick, and the car kept stalling every time I put it in neutral. Overall it went well but she was so terrified when we were in italian traffic. Driving super old cars is such a fun experience.
This was awesome. I have a strange need for a 1900's deathtrap now
For some reason those cars look just right with those coastal views
The smiles per mile here are so abundant, it’s not even fair to compare to anything built in the last 100 years. And in all honesty, if I really wanted to flex and get noticed, this is how I’d pull up. Because nothing says “I have F you money” like showing up late, backing up miles of traffic, keeping multiple hired mechanics on hand, and still having a cheery grin on your face. Loved it!
What a wonderful video. Thanks for taking us on the ride with you. I think the overcast and cold weather really added to the atmosphere of the video. It's so fun seeing these pieces of living history in action.
Really really enjoyed this one Matt and Zack! And Matt is looking trim congrats on the hard work!
that ending words were spot on... this is why i watch this channel - you see it the same way as I do :)
I realised that I was smiling through this entire video. 😁
I would LOVE to drive a car like that. Seems like so much fun! Hopefully there are more guys from my generation that are interested so that we can keep these beauties alive and kicking
“Do I want to buckle or jump out of the car” 😂😂😂😂
Gives me nostalgic feeling for all cars go to heaven 2
I am so in love with that #10 Cadillac. What a beauty.
Cool to watch ….and to have Zach fly in the autonomous Flying drone earlier this year to this 1902 vehicle is special. 👏👏👏
I’m sure this will probably get nuts for views compared to every other TST vid, but this was EASILY my absolute favorite video from yall I have seen since the days of Nino making a rap video out of the back of a L405 Range Rover. Bravo.
This was genuinely a good time. Thanks guys!
You could feel the joy emanating through the video!
Finally! Been looking forward to this video.
Epic! Absolutely loved this video. Makes me want to get out and enjoy some old cars!
This might be the most wholesome car video I've ever watched 😊
8:45 "Should we aoo-gah?" 🤣
Thank you for coming to Newport, it’s so great to see you and Zach enjoy this lovely town
Been waiting for ever for this vid to drop! Loved every minute of it!
I think that this was by far the best film you have done to date. Thank you
Very cool video. Never been into Veteran cars but seeing them run and drive at least doubles the cool factor.
This feels like old school TST. Love it. Nice jobs guys
By far one of my favorite TST episodes in a long time
This was great! Big smiles all the way through!
I never really gave much thought to pre-war cars, aside from "if not for those old cars, the cars we love wouldn't be here". That changed a few months ago. I was able to drive an unrestored 1921 Studebaker, a 1927 Chrysler, and a 1926 Model T. Not as wild as the cars shown here, but I am so glad to have the experience of driving them.
Really enjoyed this one! Definitely something different, but not silly like some other channels cross the line into. Great work mixing it up and keeping this fresh.
Watching this really put a smile on my face, looks like an absolute hilarious event
I've driven an 08 stanley streamer. It was exilerating and terrifying at the same time. You're driving a piece of furniture that can go 60 mph with almost no brakes.
It's fun to see you guys drive on roads I recognize.
One of my favorite TST videos ever. Looks like great fun.
One of my favorite vids you’ve put out as of recent. Thank you
Great report. Glad you had a re-match after the slowness of last time. And I’m all for appropriate life-saving tech.
Just looks like a good time.
This was absolutely awesome! You could tell you guys had an incredible time! I laughed almost the entire time. Thank you!
That was fun. Glad you guys made it in good time to the finish.
This was awesome - loved the video boys! Thanks his looks like a heap of fun
Loving the vibe on this one gentleman!!!
This was super fun to watch. Thanks guys!
Really fantastic, I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would
This is amazing. Such a nice change of pace.
Hands down one of my new favourite videos you guys have done over the years and, yes you're right, driving a slow car fast IS more fun. I grew up learning car control with VW Beetles, Ladas, and Datsun 100A's, and I miss those times; they weren't even close to being the fastest but I learnt a lot hooning those around the dirt roads in Finland and Ireland. Closest thing I've got to the experience in a modern-ish "sporty" car in recent years was my base model Lotus Elise S2 which I should never ever have sold... Anywho, keep up the great work!
This was a great one. Thanks dudes!
While I do not recommend taking a shot every time Matt says "Oh no!", this looks like a blast, and I look forward to many years of Matt vs. Donald.
This was one of your best videos to to date love the new stuff, but also love the old stuff and what it brings to the table.
Loved this! Deserves wayyyyyy more views
great video, this needs to catch on everywhere
This vid rocks! Love the excitement and laughs.
Love Newport, visited many times when I used to live in Hartford. Even seeing one of these cars on the road is a rush.. Driving one would have been a blast. 😊
This is amazing ❤
Delightful! Thanks!!!
amazing video as always
18:55 ...at 40mph, it gets a little sketch. 😂😂😂
This looks like so much fun!!!
So very cool. Looks like a blast. Would love to do that run.
That was awesome!!
That looks like SO much fun!
This looks so much fun! Amazing😂😂😂
One of the best TST videos ever. Fun and scary asf. Good job guys!
I don't know what I expected as far as brakes would be concerned, but the Wilwoods surprised me!
Such an amazing event!
Never had any interest in vintage cars but this was excellent !!
Really enjoyed it 👍🏻
True motoring enthusiast stuff. Freakin great guys!
You get to do a lot of cool shit. THIS is the fucking coolest. Driving a veteran car in Newport is definitely a bucket list item for me!
It's a damn shame these videos don't do as well. I know JACK about cars like this and this was so fun! Thanks for sharing and spreading the laughs.
Fantastic video. Fantastic car. Old school everything 👍🏽
This was awesome!
For a minute there, I thought Matt broke another one! Thank God. 😁
Fun was definitely had!
This looks like a blast!
Both times you guys have done this it’s looked like such a fun adventure
This was excellent!
That was surprisingly entertaining - I love mildly contained shitshows where it's just inches from all going wrong but it somehow doesn't
I was smiling through this entire video, i love that 10 cadillac🎉
So good. Reminds me of my Model T. It's all about the fun and repairs, not the actual performance.
Always the best from you guys
Such a well done video!
This was a super cool video, I’m in NE so I will have to make it to the Audrain for this next year
Awesome video!!!
Seems like a fun adventure!
This is awesome. The driving engagement would so fun with these cars, I’d love to try it.
Awesome video fellas
This is as so fun to watch! Thank you guys!
Note to self: Don't die.
That's got a ring to it like it could be a song.
That's the mount hope bridge not the Newport bridge.
I grew up in fall river Massachusetts and joined the navy ended up in CT and had a job after the navy in Newport. I drove an hour everyday and had go over that stupid Newport bridge. I don't miss it 😂now I live in TN where I'm currently melting to death
Aw that’s my fault. I googled Newport bridge and the picture seemed to match.
@@zackklapman3569 Easy mistake to make. You can tell it's not the Newport bridge because it's not actively a construction zone like the Newport bridge is almost constantly
@@zackklapman3569 they are similar from a distance! No worries
@@Kheekostick ha ha yes! I immediately recognized the on ramp to the bridge my I uncle used to live right down the street from it
Great video!
"suck my wind, Carini!" lmfaoooooo
This is so awesome!
Your comments on engaging with machinery resonates with me more.
Some of the most fun ive had in a vehicle was a Ford Model A Truck. So much more challenging to drive and juat plain visceral.
The beard/glasses/hat combo gives me Hancock vibes 😂
Love these videos 🤘
I love when Matt complains on the podcast about his videos getting such low views…and then he drops this video. Having said that, I enjoyed this video, and all your videos in general.
Look, we all know this is basically poison as far as the almighty algorithm is concerned, but for me this is the kind of goofy, low-stakes motoring I just have to watch immediately
Hey look everyone I'm the Douche of the year holding a cigar as I drive a car I rented to drive in a vintage event. ( I'm allowed to say this because I attend vintage vintage meets)
