  • Thanks for watching, today Anton begins a series taking a look into recreating analogue footage digitally through a sequence in After Effects. This recreated footage is essentially procedural, meaning you can replace the subject to recreate the result across the board, and export to use elsewhere. Let us know if you're enjoying the content! It's great reading all your comments, we're very grateful here at september.

    i got a graphic i created in illustrator, its a room with a nintendo and a tv - with a image out of zelda placed on the screen... i would like to animate a lil bit so the tv screen kind of glows and has some crt effect to it...what would the best way be for this? should i work with vector layers or should i just mask the image (tv section) ??

    • @Perforu
      @Perforu Před rokem +4

      rasterize it. After effects + vectors is pain in the ass. Create a static image with "blank" TV screen. In AE, create layers of elements you want to animate on the screen just as you'd do in Photoshop. The author of this video uses pretty expensive plugins - go with TVPixel, Signal, Modulation, Deep Glow + native AE plugins (for instance, channel mixer seperates RGB channels, CC Lens creates the fisheye lens distortion - you don't need expensive plugins that basically do the same thing).

    Too bad, using a monthly pay plugin. Maybe specify in the caption that you're using one

    How do you make it where the text constantly changes until it gets to a specific word. Like for example in the intro where it went through multiple words until it got to the word digital design?

    • @gt4681
      @gt4681 Před rokem +1

      One way to do it would be making an image sequence where each image frame is different text till you get to the one you want

  • @cjhatesu

    I get that a lot of beginners pirate software and plugins from larger corporations like Adobe, Red Giant and Boris since they charge and arm and a leg for shady subscription models, but to encourage pirating from smaller creators like Zaebects is pretty shameful. That Modulation plugin only costs a one time payment of $40 and creates a very unique effect. Smaller creators of niche plugins definitely deserve the support so they can continue making more innovative plugins.
    I don't mean to crap on your tutorial but maybe consider finding work arounds for plugins that you wouldn't dish out the money for rather than asking your viewers to steal them. For instance that BCC Led plugin could easily be replaced with a shape layer and using a repeater to fill the composition and using that as an alpha matte.

      You're completely right, definitely could have worked around it and a miscommunication on my part. My list of ae plugins is a scramble between active licenses and plugins I don't remember installing, so my way of creating tends to be testing effects until I achieve the look I'm after. I tend to be overly casual about this stuff, but going forward it's something I'll build my methods around. Thanks for letting me know

    • @Perforu
      @Perforu Před rokem +4

      @@_september Also a lot of stuff you did can be done with AE native plugins - making 3 copies of the same footage + channel mixer gives you total control over each channel, CC Lens gives you the fisheye lens distortion, most definitely you should encourage people to dish out cash for these independent creators like Zaebects. The LED plugin is pretty trash if you compare it to what you can do manually - you can literally create the exact shape of a single diode and use RepeTile to create the screen and then use it for each R G and B channels. A lot of stuff in Boris plugins is basically native AE effects mixed together with some controls... Some of the stuff is cool but probably like 50% of it you can do with native AE + some free / independent plugins.
