It really does seem odd to me. Murders are solved with much less evidence than this case. I have to commend those poor girls, though. Under serious threat of danger, to have the presence of mind to take pictures, videos, audio, all without the perp knowing it. Brave and intelligent girls, they were. Perhaps the police 'know' who did it, but don't have the evidence for a conviction. I hope so, because eventually they may get that evidence. If not, might never be solved.

This case is so sickening, baffling, and terrifying to me. How is it that the victim bravely took a photo of him and recorded his voice, and yet we don’t have him yet. She was so brave to do that. She had to have known she and her friend were not likely to live and she made her last actions count.

Easy to play armchair detective, I know, but I'm wondering if he produced a weapon as he approached, probably a gun, that he then concealed in a pocket while he continued to approach. This would have been the trigger for the girl to start recording, and "Guys.... down the hill" definitely sounds like a command or instruction. But without some additional threat of a weapon, I think it likely that the girls would have just run away. There was DNA recovered from the scene which has, as yet, not found a match. Perhaps the police may want to consider running the DNA on familial/ancestry DNA websites, (forensic genetic genealogy) which is what they did with the Golden State killer and found a match that led to the arrest and conviction of Joseph James DeAngelo.

It's not all that difficult to narrow down the killer's identity once you accept a few basic facts in the case. At the 2019 Press Conference LE revealed Young Sketch and declared that he was responsible for the murders. It was then revealed through media outlets that LE had possession of Young Sketch 4 days after the murders, on February 17 2017 (murders were February 13). Why didn't they release Young Sketch when they had it and ask the public to identify him?
Because they already identified him. They thought he was a witness at the time.
At CrimeCon 2018, Sgt Jerry Holeman reveals that LE had several sketches of witnesses, family members, and search party members. The only way LE would have known that is if they identified the people depicted in the sketches they had.
In the April 29, 2020 interview with the Carroll County Comet, Sheriff Leazenby stated that the killer had likely been "interviewed but not immediately identified as an offender."
So, they had several sketches at the beginning of the investigation and those sketches were determined to be of witnesses, family members and search party members. And the killer had likely been interviewed but not identified as the killer.
The killer therefore, was likely considered a witness at the beginning of the investigation. The sketch of him was one of several sketches of witnesses they had all along.
His alibi therefore will be one that puts him at the crime scene in order to explain why a witness saw him there (why a sketch of him exists) but will supply an innocent reason for being there that would have survived superficial scrutiny.
They know who he is. He was hiding in plain sight as a witness. He changed his appearance dramatically following the release of Young Sketch. He is local, and his family is well-known in the community, just as Leazenby said it would be in that interview.

In small cities, thieves drive over an hour, to the city, to steal goods to sell. I know this because I’m in long term recovery from addiction, and it’s a common thing in those circles. Since then, I’ve been working to solve the (addiction) problem. If it’s a habitual criminal, or someone with deviant interests (clearly), it may be second nature to him, to take his business elsewhere to avoid detection. What does make me think you might be right is that he felt comfortable enough to walk on that bridge, and even to approach someone aggressively, there. Then again, he may have come regularly to visit the place, but it does suggest a high degree of familiarity.

Not the 2 second release, there is 43 seconds on that tape. The police never released it. For what reason I cannot understand, it's incompetence. Police withhold evidence so when a suspect is found only the suspect knows the truth. Nothing on this tape fits that description. I can't believe they released only 2 second and then had the public guess the identity for years, this might have been solved if the public saw a longer version than just 2 seconds. She went there to meet what she thought was a new love, and this killer showed instead. 43 seconds of a man living in a small town, and we got 2 seconds. The police failed.

I didn’t want to mature into a young woman, because crimes against that age group and gender were common, especially trafficking. Delphi seems like such e nice place to grow up. That’s why I moved to a small town when I had kids. It’s scary to know that nowhere is really safe. I took a good R.A.D. self defense class in college, and it has helped me to feel safer. They teach you real police ground tactics and other fighting skills that you practice on men in padded suits. It makes you better prepared! I hope you are able to feel safe again. ❤️‍🩹

@@svenskgangmiljo2168 It wasn’t in the wilderness, where there are hillbillies and outlaws hiding out. At worst, there might be drug dealers or homeless people camping, but probably not camping in February. It was a city park, if in a very small city. There are clearings with buildings and farm land all around. Some of the YT channels have aerial views of the whole area, from GPS and helicopter footage from the search for the girls. I know Gray Hughes does. It was thought to be a safe place for a long time but, sadly, nowhere is completely safe. It’s hard, when you have kids and the whole family is working. I used to put my kids in structured activities until I got home but, around age 11-14, they rebelled against them because they want more independence, and to spend time with friends. I have lived in a town that size, and would probably feel my teens were safer in a nature park than unsupervised in town. Town kids are often bored, and get into trouble. I know they were good kids, but so are mine, and they saw kids using drugs, stealing, vandalizing, and they would try to pick fights in town. (We moved to a bigger city, with more for teens to do, and it helped). Maybe home is safest, but if adults aren’t home, perpetrators also attack people in their homes or yards, and you can’t really control if your kids stay there. Having family in Sweden, I think what really needs attention is the American work week. Many Americans work 60-80 hours. Even one full time job is 40 hours plus commute, and I’ve often put in more time to get the work done, and have take home work. If we had a 30 hour work week and public higher education so older siblings don’t have to work, it would be possible to supervise kids adequately. Their family seems very responsible to me, considering the circumstances.

I’ve learned to not get my hopes up when a new person of interest comes up, people will be so certain only for law enforcement to announce they are no longer a POI, but there are some undeniably odd things with this recent guy.
    1. The girl he kidnapped was of a similar age as Libby & Abby.
    2. He lured her to his house in broad daylight.
    2. He lives 20 miles from Delphi.
    3. He is an outdoorsman.
    4. He alternated between having a job & doing well & being jobless & homeless. This is important because when he was homeless he would often live out of a tent in the woods or under a bridge.
    5. On his social media he has several pictures of bridges, trains & old railroad tracks.
I know those are not really concrete indicators of guilt but they are still odd nonetheless.

This was revenge murder, aimed specifically at Libby German.
Abby was just unfortunate to be with her.
This is why Libby was stripped naked and staged, while Abby was laid down fully clothed, coffin style.
The small and close knit band of meth heads and cookers that did this did so to exact revenge on Libby's father, Derrick German, who was going to be going to prison for drug distribution, but was let off the hook when he agreed to become a police informant.
One of the men involved, Garret Kirts, 2 years later, murdered his ex-girlfriend by strangulation, which was planned, and did this with 2 or 3 of the others.
He also confessed to the strangulation murder of a man 2 weeks previously, which he was never charged for, due to corruption within the LE system.
He and the girl who was involved in the other girl's murder are each doing 55 and 45 years.
Garret was best friends with BG, and BG is the only one of the bunch that is not incarcerated on any charges.
These all knew that land and Ron Logan's property like the back of their hand, and had grown up going there and partying out there regularly.
The two that i mentioned were murdered by strangulation were most likely killed because there was fear that they were going to come forth to LE regarding what they knew about Libby's and Abby's murders.

It's been 3 almost four years and they are no closer to solving it now than they were to begin with. if the killer really is a local like they believe because of how comfortable the killer is walking across the bridge that had gaps in it if they released more of the audio recording everyone in that small town would recognize that voice.

I concur. How can the police have a full snapchat video of the crime, release only the bridge walking incident, yet still haven't found him yet? Libby practically handed their killer over. And had they not given up the search, Abby would've been found alive. She succumbed to her injuries shortly before they were found.

I actually don't believe this was a random crime of opportunity though. I believe the suspect knew their families and had a fixation on one or both of the girls to the point that he stalked them and had access to their social media posts somehow as well and took the opening when he knew they were alone for an extended amount of time and the weather was good.

It's amazing that the poor girl can have made a video of her killer and that the police still haven't been able to catch him. It reminds us, that in some ways, safety is an illusion and that you must always be on guard. Sad but true.

I know this video is old but as the case is starting to get more leads I am watching. I wonder why the girls wanted dropped off at that particular spot (the trail)? I wonder if they was meeting someone they met online? It would be extremely coincidental if it was a random person in the same exact spot that murdered them. It was definitely someone who they was meeting and/or someone they knew and knew that the girls would be in this particular location. I hope whoever it is, is found soon and that these young girls get the justice they deserve after all this time 🙏🏻

    • @southbeachmiamiart895
      @southbeachmiamiart895 Před 3 lety +1

Yep. And a case can go cold in just a few hours; tired of the police and their stupidity. Listen to the audio of the suspect. You can clearly hear one of the girls shouting "I....said.....no!" Did the police hear it too? That's evidence that the suspect previously made contact with them. How could they miss that? Listen to it right after the suspect says, "Guys."

I *strongly* believe those statistics will change given the advances in forensic science regarding DNA like forensic genealogy or just new technology. Especially with new equipment like the M-Vac which can extract touch DNA from porous or previously submerged evidence -- which could be useful in this case given the location but let's hope and pray LE didn't drop the ball when it came to preserving evidence.
