Brilliant video Eric, I look forward to reading your book 💪🏼
Awesome, thank you!
Awesome analysis. Thanks Dr. G.
Thanks! Appreciate the support.
Thanks Dr G mental health monday 😀 the actual imagery of narcissus is helpful when i forget what narcissism is by definition or it gets hard to know if it may be a problem. Hes a guy in love with himself to such an extent zeus has to get involved and curse his fate.
It definitely is a great myth!
@theimaginarium I've only read part of the Wikipedia article on it haha
As always, amazing stuff! Thanks a lot!
Glad you enjoy it!
I actually wanted to tell you I had a lucid dream last night, I remember rubbing my hands together and spinning like you said, it worked a little bit, not perfectly but I remember consciously trying it. I remember also trying to manifest certain things or objects just to see if I could and kept failing every time. It was much clearer this time, I did end up kind of forgetting the bulk of it though so need to write it down. I remember seeing some scary sumo sized human as well and instead of being scared of it I remember consciously just trying to run and hug it and embrace it, I’m not entirely sure where that came from but I do believe it was due to your recommendation of listening to Stephen Laberg I think his name was and he recommended to do that. Dreams are weird aren’t they. You’d think in complete lucidity if it isn’t preconceived and is malleable that it would be more malleable, I am starting to realise it perhaps nearly as malleable as it is sold. There’s a certain consistency throughout similar to waking life only of course nowhere near as prominent
Memory seems to be a big issue in this realm, like i have ADD on steroids. I’m still very conscious, but weirdly forgetful, as though i’m tapping in between lucidity and non lucidity.
Fascinating! Thanks for sharing!
Dr. Goodwyn-is arrogance always a defense mechanism or can it be an inherent characteristic of one’s personality? 🎭
Great question! I think some people are more genetically prone to it as a go-to defense, and so it wouldn't take much for them to do it. I also think there is an inherent drive toward dominance as an attempt at improving reproductive fitness that needs to be taken into account, also. So, like everything else, it's a combination of genetic predisposition combined with the right environmental triggers. Which means some people are probably just going to be narcissistic even without a huge amount of environmental triggering. But that doesn't mean it's inevitable.
@@theimaginarium Good to know. Thanks!
Awesome video!
I have definitely been affected by this at times. And introspection/self-hypnosis has revealed as well that the cure is authentic connection. I was wondering if you then have any tips or known resources on trying to build these connections? It certainly is not easy, as you said. Not sure if this is still within your "domain" if you will :D
Active imagination may be a useful resource. Look for the works of Jeffrey Raff. Active Imagination is actually sophisticated and nuanced, despite what you may have heard elsewhere.
Super king erik
Oooh ahhh cantona, oooh ahh cantona, oooh ahh, oooh ahh, oooh ahh cantona!
Thanks colonel🤣
Yell it from the rooftops man: "our culture incentivises narcassitic tendencies/behavior." We all have the capacity for it and it's highly unlikely that anyone living in the west has been unaffected by it to some degree. The capacity for the common culturally adapted self-focus/indulgence is in line with the current zeitgeist and intensified by an ever growing consumer culture based around identity, unqiueness, and the ever inflated ego. It's also left room for more cult-like gurus to ensare those seeking actual COMMUNITY to rise up in little pockets across the west.
Yes, it most certainly has. Tiny little pocket cults in the West are a huge problem.
Why are you discussing a subject that isn't about ME? 😁
You're so vain, I bet you think this video is about you, DON'T YOU?
