Stihl MS660 Knock Knock Joke

Customer complaint of this Stihl MS660 chainsaw is that it won't start. I believew him but thats not really the whole truth and this saw is hiding a dark secret. #smallenginerepair

I have experienced something similar with a Husqvarna 346 XPG. With that saw I suspect that a small air leak caused the bottom rod bearing to fail after long use, possibly due to lack of proper lubrication. There was significant backlash turning the flywheel back and forth and no start. Some small parts of the needle bearing found its way through the exhaust. Quite a few new parts needed, but the cylinder could be reused. With the MS 660, it would be very interesting to follow a tear down of this saw to see the failing parts, but I understand the customer that it can be hard to accept the total cost of such a repair. I Had a 660 In My Shop 3-4 Weeks Ago and It Had a Snapped Off Connecting Rod The 1st One I’ve Seen Snap in 20 Years The Piston Was Frozen In The Bore The Customer Said It Revvvved Up Then Died Wont Restart 😩😬🙁🙁😬

This is the first 660 I've seen with a failed lower rod bearing but these big saws aren't the norm around here. You'd need to ask a west coast mechanic that question. Happy Easter.
