This is so cool. Awesome video.
Thanks for watching!
I grew up going to this mall (live in Duluth, GA). This mall used to be the place to go and hang out when I was younger. It’s sad what’s its become. Mall of GA and Discover Mills (Sugarloaf Mills now) we’re built and Gwinnett Place became a ghost town.
So it’s safe to assume you rocked out in the original arcade?
your channel is awesome! It's one of my biggest dreams to go to all the shooting locations of my favorite movies / series!
Thanks for the comment! Where about are you? Perhaps there are some close by?
Omg I wanted to go in there so bad!!! Lucky
amazing

Wish I could be there this seems likes it’s gonna be a nice video :)
Thanks for watching! Please tell all of your friends. :)
@@BeyondtheBacklot np will do that
Awesome!
Are you sure you weren't in the upside down world? Just kidding. Great video.
🤣 thanks for watching!
It's a shame that it's almost abandoned ugh wtf i still can visit old and alive malls in my country whatva shame, i can't believe how this looked like a set yet it's a real place like omg and it's lovely to see it preserved
Great content, please keep on posting! We follow Stranger Things closely and publish the latest news about this series on our channel as well!
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
Stranger Things Takes me back to when malls were actually like that. A hub for society
Right?? Crazy how much has changed. Thanks for watching!
👍👍
Thanks for watching!
@@BeyondtheBacklot you're very welcome 👍👍
that was great, just subbed to the channel, really like what you guys are doing.
Thanks for watching and subbing! Glad to have you with us on our adventures.
As a kid of the '80s and '90s I find this so sad. It depresses me that my two girls will not be able to grow up going to the mall with their friends. either way, I love the series and will continue to watch and support.
We hear you. Thank you for watching and commenting. Please check out the rest of our episodes, including our On Locations. We think you'll like 'em!
@@BeyondtheBacklot I watched home alone, The Goonies and Jurassic Park last night! I will watch more this weekend.
Thanks!!! Let us know what you think of those.
I live like 5 minutes from one location Hopper's Cabin off of Sleepy Hollow Rd. Powder Spring Ga
That’s rad! Send us a pic and we’ll repost it if you want. concessions@beyondthebacklot.com
Ok ill get one
The mall is essentially a dead mall. They were really stupid not to leave that section of the mall 100% complete, and charge admission to see that area as a throwback museum.
Right?? Obviously malls across America are suffering. What a reminder of the epicenter they were for all socialization! Can we go back to that time instead of playing video games over the internet?!
I said the same exact thing! They could of made a fortune if they left it all up and allowed tours.
@@BeyondtheBacklot There are videos on here where someone got a mostly intact versions of the 80's mall either during or right after. It was practically a time machine.
That area is high crime now so they said they dismantled the set so nobody would steal any souvenirs. The owners of the mall now could give a crap less about that mall.
Awesome video.
How would I be able to get back there?
So did this used to be a real mall at one point and now it’s just used for location shoots?
It still is...just super quiet. They do lots of filming there. I think most recently they filmed Tanya there.
It still is a mall, but labeled a dead mall. There’s hardly any stores in it. My husband is from that area and remembers when Gwinnett Place was popular. He used to shop there as a teen in the 90s he said. That mall started going downhill in the 2000s after a few more malls opened not far from there and started taking business away. Plus there is a lot of crime in that area now. Back in 2017, there was actually a murder there. A 19 year old girl was found dead in the back room of the abandoned Subway after being there for weeks un-noticed. I think I read that her ex boyfriend killed her and put her body there in the closed Subway. I’ve heard there’s been talk of closing the mall and tearing it down.
for when the one of the warriors ???

Sadly it’s not open to just walk in like that anymore
Scoops ahoy it’s actually a real thing there is one just opened one up in the Toronto Pearson mall
wonder women was filmed here as well
New "SuperFan" to your channel. I know its the owners of the Home Alones house who have the right to say no to not coming in but putting up the sprinklers when you guys were on public property is abit much seriously. You didnt even touch the fence, the owners should be kinder. To be more cruel, id say its their own fault, they bought the house, and its bound to have fans coming around. Its part of history. Im affraid someone will ruin the front of the house one day. So many historical houses has been torn down because nobody wants it because they dont care. I hate this.
Thank you for the comment. We appreciate you joining us! We understand what you are saying regarding these famous homes. All superfans should treat these places with respect, as they are private residences. We aren't owed anything as fans. Owners can block off or welcome fans as they wish. Whatever their choice, it's understandable. Beyond the Backlot is here to bring these locations to you with the feelings that the movie brings...we try our best, always respecting the owner's disposition. We encourage others to do the same.
Before the evil Democrats shut it down.
" ah, Danny, this isn't Russia. ...this isn't Russia, is it?"
"nahhhhh.'
