    Not been using Windows Defender in a while (been using Avast) but Ive recenently reactivated on another Win10 computer and its waaaaaaay better than I remember it being 🙂

      it is still a good layer of protection, this addon gives it a bit more grunt

      @@Haddley333 Most people will say use one or the other. I currently use Defender and Kaspersky together with no issues.
      Haven't used Avast for a long time as it used up a lot of system resources.

      yeah it seems like a decent addon to the default settings and uses language that is a bit easier for everyone to understand what the heck is going on

    Great stuff - I am such a Novice at Antivirus - Gonna use this one with your settings. Thanks you Mike - I'm very satisfied and got rid of my F-Secure antivirus , to many CPU temp Spikes.

    Far cry from the days when you added antivirus because Defender was useless. Now I only use Defender 2bh. Will give this a try as download or stream daily so any extra safety very welcome. Thanks Mike and Kath 👍

    Microsoft should just give up the option back to how it was on Windows 7.
    Something that metro UI, or whatever it is, is good enough. Sometimes it's not.
    In this case, it is not.

    Windows defender is fine as it is. No third party voodoo needed. That said, I finished my build today. But I made a bit of a novelist mistake. I used my MSI X570 Unify that had been the closet for over a year without testing it first. And fate reared up and bit me in the arse. No matter what I tried, the sucker refused to crank up. I made it into the bios a couple times, but none of the setting changes did anything to change the outcome. It goes to the Logo, and stays there. So, tomorrow I'll drain the loop, and replace the Unify with my X570S Edge. Such is the life of a PC building. If I can get my hands on something to take photos with, I'll post the rebuild, build on Discord.

    HHHhhhhmmmmmmmm.... that looks interesting. I may have to give that a go. I built my new machine last July but instead of putting one of my available NORTON activations on it I decided to just use Microsoft Defender because A: it was getting high marks and B: it was FREE!!! Normally I'm of the mind that "you get what you pay for". But I'm not getting any Norton interruptions on my machine and I'm also apparently not having any problems. So, thanks. I may actually try this.

    Looks interesting. I'll compare it to Glasswire?

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  Před 5 měsíci +2

      i think glasswire is more a firewall and for looking in detail at packets, this is just making the defender a bit more robust overall

      @@mikesunboxing It's still a good security solution, but if DefenderUI does the job, I may even drop Bitdefender! Thanks for unearthing this little gem. :-)

    What do I go for, been using Sophos Home for a good while, but Defender scores decently in tests these days. For a freebie, Sophos Home only gives a little gentle upgrade hinting.

    Funny when you say some people are paranoid about what's on the internet so can decide to choose aggressive mode 😂. They've just downloaded so called 'free' software without questioning why it's free 😂.
