This is a tribute animation to the beautiful game, Legend of Zelda - Breath of the Wild. After five months of work, I'm proud to finally post this. I hope you enjoy!
Some spoilers for both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are present, so proceed with caution!

The way he showed more emotion after he lost his memory is heartbreaking and you showed it beautifully
That's always been my headcanon, that post calamity link loosened up quite a bit. I'm glad to see some other people agree

It’s even stated in creating a champion (the official art book) that post reawakening Link’s demeanor is much more open and emotive due to a combination of his lost memory of what he used to be like and the loss of all the eyes and pressure he was under 100 years ago. It’s such an interesting dynamic ripe with potential that an event that spelled the end for so many, including him, ended up also being the thing that set him free in a sense.

I guess you can say a part of Link died in order for him to feel truly free, even if it was temporary.
@@themindeclectic9821 The best part about this is that you don’t even have to hold it strictly as a head canon; it’s legitimately canon!
Link told Zelda in the past before the Calamity struck that he felt the overbearing weight of his responsibilities weighing down on him, so he pushed aside all of his emotions in order to fulfill his duties as Zelda’s knight and guardian. But after he’s lost his memories, he’s also forgotten all of his duties- so he’s finally able to once again fully express himself once more.

Link finding the master sword as a kid and seeing all the past lives killed me, especially since i did the champions ballad and read mipha's diary about how much link changed. He was just a baby when he got pushed into his destiny. I love how carefree and emotive link is before regaining his memories. This is god tier

I’ve been thinking abt this for years, everyone seems to overlook these sort of things about Link character. Like you said he was pushed into it so young without a choice in the matter. I think it’s a bit tragic.
Just curious, but didn't Link only get the master sword when he was around 20? I know Age of Calamity isn't canon, but we can assume that the events prior to the robot time travelling were probably canon, and Link didn't have the master sword when he was about 20. Unless of course, you are talking about a different Link.
You know, this video made me realize why I love this series so much. The Master Sword. This blade has been passed down for possibly hundreds of thousands of years, and with each brave hand that carries it, comes memories. Memories of pain, joy, sorrow, happiness, destruction. Each Link has their own story, their own destiny. Many are pushed into it, living their own happy lives. The same three, cursed to fight. Forever. A cycle that never ends. It may be sad, but no matter what, the courage of Link and the wisdom of Zelda always overcome Ganon’s power. Thank you for making this video, absolutely incredible

Its heartbreaking to see how happy link looked from 2:35 to 2:50. Since he lost his memory, he probably didn’t had the pressure of the memories of his past.

Wow, just wow. The animation really shows the immense emotions, you can feel the pain and sadness, and the joy in every frame. Plus the animation is smooth, the rendering is beautiful, ant the whole thing is just done so perfectly. This animation must have taken a VERY long time to complete, and is one of the best ones I have ever seen.

I am INCREDIBLY glad that youtube recommended this video and was quite stubborn about keeping it on my recommended. I've watched this at least 4 times now and it really never fails to amaze!!! Amara isn't usually a song I enjoy that much, but the tone shifts between different sections work SO well with the abrupt timeline of events in BOTW! Your art style is amazing!!! The animation is amazing!!!!! The amount of thought that has gone into each scene is amazing!!!! Link really feels so alive with how the voice clips are used in the big fight scene!! I got a bit emotional at the part with Link turning around and cycling through all of his different armor and the things he's doing!! An absolutely gorgegous tribute :) I hope many many more people get to see this!

@@lrdtrout Speaking of jumpy cuts, it's a bit obvious that the fluid parts of the animation gets impatient about transitions to different scenes and styles, and then the lingering shots are only in places where the animation also cuts corners on filling in the in-between frames. A bit more detail in the lingering shots would class up the work quite a bit. Of course it's a balance act with how much value you'd sink into it altogether, but I'm talking about the stark contrast.
@@sboinkthelegday3892 You're right! A lot of shots do need some in betweens and more work, but these shortcuts were taken to test how quickly I could finish a decent product!

Bro same this has been sitting on my recommended for almost a week and ive been putting it off
I always love when we get to see just how happy Link was after he lost his memories of his past life. He had so much riding on his shoulders that he barely ever talked and let his actions speak for him while post-calamity Link is making seal puns with the Gerudo, blowing up everything in sight, doing fun poses for the camera and shield surfing. It's just so beautifully animated how he goes from being so carefree and overjoyed to realizing just what destiny has in store for him.

I've listened to AMARA non-stop since it released so I noticed the subtle audio changes. 2:04 - 2:20 was my favorite part!!!! Absolutely gorgeous animation, it reminded me of how much I love these games

In order: Hero of time (Ocarina of time/Majora’s Mask), Hero of twilight (twilight princess) in wolf form, Hero of the sky (Skyward sword), Hero of Hyrule (OG legend of Zelda and adventure of link), Hero of time AGAIN, Hero of time grown up, possibly Hero of awakening (Link’s Awakening), possibly hero of Twilight (regular form this time), and finally the Hero of the Wind (the Wind Waker ). That last one was obviously a toon link, you could tell by the face shape if you run the animation in 0.25x speed.
Guys I might have gotten some things wrong, hero of hyrule might have not been in adventure of link LOL

amara is such a good song for this, the original song has such a great blend of tech and classical musical beats, its very reminiscent of the musical style of ToTK.... yeah, absolutely amazing. brb gonna watch this for the 20th time
I’m having a really hard time expressing how beautiful and incredible this was through words. This is one of the most gorgeous animations I’ve ever seen - not even just in the TLoZ fandom, but in general. The emotions you managed to convey through Link genuinely took my breath (haha) away, and you told the story of Breath of the Wild so vividly while also capturing the terrible heartbreak of Link and Zelda’s destinies. This is an absolute work of art and I’m so, so glad that I got to witness it.
holy crap this is one of the best animations I've ever seen. as an artist who has dabbled in animation this requires SO MUCH WORK I'm surprised at how fast you did this, something this amazing i would assume would take 5 years, not 5 months. I'm genuinely amazed at the quality of this, the attention to detail and the lore is so good. its all so amazing I'm getting chills thinking about it. thank you for making this.

the transition from him being a kid, to all of his former selves from the zelda series, transitioning to botw memories and then took suddenly came in and that frame hit me as to how link endured all of this and literally a new chapter or finding zelda again has just begun,,,, wtf my heart hurtsss q-q

It's very evident that you know all the backstories given some of the scenes you made like Link as a kid finding the master sword or the fact that he shows more emotion after reawakening and losing his memories. This is truly a labor of love that I will come back to over and over!

I think "A Hero's Purpose", the start of "A New Calamity" and the whole fandom surrounding "Linked Universe" is pretty cool too.
Oh. My. GOD. The LoZ series has played such a HUGE role in my life and seeing this just made it 1000x times better. I love how you drew Link's emotions and drew how happy he looked when he was truly free for a short while. The style for Tulin and Riju are my absolute favorites. The Divine Beasts looked so cool too! This animation is seriously one of the best I have ever seen. You put so much in during those 5 months and it looks amazing!

Crying here because how changed Link was after losing his memory. He was somewhat more free in spirit and got to live a little ^^. Exploring, trying different foods, clothes, meeting new people. Very beautiful depiction of this! 💕💕💕

As someone who has been following the LoZ series as a game and a love of mine since I was 8 years old, seeing this literally brought me to tears. I have seen a lot of animation dedicated to this series and with TOTK out now, this hit me in a way that not only brought out a lot of emotion, but continued love for the LoZ series. It's clear you have a heart for the series, and an eye for it, and I legitimately would love to see more of these masterpieces from you in the future. From one fan and wide-eyed child grown up to another, this animation hits in a completely different way.

This animation is just so captivating. From the way it just shows Links experiences from childhood to the current day SO colorfully and fluidly to how masterfully this music was to compliment the ancient theme, I was getting after chills from this animation.
