Imagine waking up, not knowing who or where you are, then being told you have to constantly fight for your life and remembering all your dead friends in the process.

しびれ無効装備ではなくあえてダメージ減少装備なところが「痺れる様な苦しみの中で」耐えている感じがして好き
細かいですね。米雷さんがどれだけゼルダが好きか感じれます。
そう考えると古代兵装は古代＝過ぎた過去の力を強化するものだからなぁ。

あれだよな、リンクみたいな人を助ける系だと
「記憶失う前の自分が守りきれなかったから、こうなってる」
って思い込んで、必要以上に自分を卑下しそうだよね……。
佐藤太郎 さらに付け加えると
「100年前の自分はその記憶全てを失った今の自分とは同じであって別人」
って考える様にもなり、例えゼルダと再会しても
「彼女が求めているのは自分であって自分ではない」
という葛藤と苦悩に陥る事もある。
さらにもう一つ挙げるとすると
「自分だけが何も覚えていない=自分だけ何も知っていない=自分は周りとは違う」
という気持ちから、非常に強い孤独感を感じる事もある。
まさに、"猛独が襲う" だね。

He has companions and all, but most of his journeys are faced alone, all of his struggles are taken on alone, and he's never seen with anyone for an extended period of time either. The song Deathly Lonliness Attacks is actually very fitting to his character due to his forced solidarity in his different journeys as well as over what is most likely the rest of his lifetime. Wow it made me realise how lonely Link must have felt after collecting all the memories.. all his comrades fallen.. all that he knew now in ruin.. was it better that he didnt remember at all?.. maybe it motivated him to protect those who survived and to save his princess.. im crying.
On top of that, the only memories he remembers are the specific ones regarding his role. For all we know, he may not remember his family, his age, or even his birthday.
...Though, when asked, at least he's honest by saying "I'm over a hundred years old!".
Plus he's been reincarnated so many times for over 10,000 years. If we assume he comes back every 100 years because evil/ganon comes back every 100 years, it makes one wonder if there's any point to fighting evil at all. It makes it all the more interesting knowing ocarina happened before BotW (I think???) and we have dark link vs Link. Thre's a lot of shadow and doubt for link to face in the world and possibly within himself after having to fight on a huge map from age 10 to around a mere 16-18.

ゲーム自体はもちろん、この動画もいつまでも色褪せない名作だよね。初めて見た時本当に感動した。全部手書きでこのクオリティは本当に凄い。めちゃくちゃ大変だったろうにそれでもここまでの物を作り出せるって、作品への愛がそれほど深いからできるんだと思う。語彙力無いから上手く言えないけどほんとにすげえ。

Sometimes when i play botw i feel the deathly loneliness, especially when i go back to the great plateau and remember, while standing near the fire where you first see the old man, that I'll never meet him, or talk to him again. There's no one on this pice of land anymore, and I'll never hear his giggling again. he's the first person you meet in game, he's like your father. He teaches you how to hunt and cook. And every time i see a fire on the plateau, I for a split second expect to see him standing there, ready to give me a sense of security and comfort, bieng the only source of safety in that once new and scary world.
def, as a japanese person these lyrics really make you understand this so much better.
For me it was at the flight range I felt lonely. With that melody playing while standing near fireplace and snow falling all around it was really emotional

当時は未プレイでした。
ティアキンがやりたくて、
前作のブレワイもやってみようと思い、
ゼル伝シリーズを初めてプレイしました。
始める時にこのMVを思い出し、
ブレワイをクリアしたら
もう一度見に来ようと決めてスタートしました。
そして終わるのが寂しくて寄り道をしたりと、
なかなか終えられませんでしたが、先程やっと決意をしクリアすることができました。
ゲームを終え早速閲覧しましたが、
昔見た時とは全然違う印象でした。
細かい所まで描かれていて、
「あー！こんなシーンもあったあった😢」と感動と懐かしい気持ちになりました。
(のんびりしすぎて、気づいたら2年ほど経過してました(苦笑))
やり残した事を終えたらティアキンに進もうと思います！

Season8: Lost memories and 7 complete episodes of the battle with ganon
This is for a complete season doing for the main quest of the game
Gosh, I'm always so sad for this Link. Waking up completely amnesiac and slowly relearning trauma, survivor's guilt, anxieties, and role as a world-shouldering hero, all while never getting to remember the more pleasant days of childhood, of family. He slowly remembers the people he knew, but only briefly, and by then he already knows they've been long dead. He's quirky and answers people as such sometimes - and, like Zelda's diary said, he loves food! - but he can hardly be himself, you know? He has to LEARN himself, and his past, and his friends, and Zelda, all while fighting to survive in the wild and fighting monsters and the Calamity itself.

Exactly, I completely agree. He's also alone for the majority of his travels, leaving him probably with a crap ton of loneliness (since a village or stable would happen after days of traveling) since he would have to leave a day or two later just to move on.

I love that angle, I wish it was somehow conveyed better through the game though. For me the true tragedy is Link slowly regaining his memories. If he doesn't remember anything then at least everything is new. But bit by bit he recovers these tragic memories of his closest friends (and potential romantic interests) dying. It sucks that link has to be a silent protagonist, I'd love for there to be some indication that he misses his friends. When mipha saves his life with mipha's Grace it's like he gets to see her again for just a second, and then he's alone again. Idk, I'd love to see a fan comic or something with that storytelling. I'd make it myself if I was better able to draw haha
Same, if someone made a animated series about this Link I would have jumped at it. It would have a crap ton of character development, (as such people not believing in him and those who do) causing ups and downs in the way he viewed his 'failure' over and over again. Gah! There's just so much happening to him and he can barely understand why

You have a Heroic and lonely Link, forced out of his time, and cursed with the sole fact that he, failed as the chosen Hero, and that it's his fault that Hyrule has turned into the hellhole it is today, and all he wants to do is finish the job that he failed all those years ago......
But then there's also this Link who looks at Hyrule castle and goes "ok let's go kill some fokin ganons!"

All of the animations and visuals got me thinking about how sad I would be if I was in Link’s situation. I mean alone day in and day out, knowing that the fate of everyone rested on my shoulders. Well the point of this rant is just I think this really helps to develop Link’s character of having a kind heart and strong will. If you think about it Link is an amazing person for pushing through all that he endured in this game.
Cailean Stoller oh my god I found someone who thinks the same. All the people I know who have played breath of the wild say that the story was sit but I thought it was so mysterious just waking with no memory’s and having to figure out what happened a year ago is amazing
Kinda, depends on how you played the game, maybe for someone link was just a crazy naked guy running around exploding things and setting hyrule on fire.
Also if you think about it, the dude just randomly woke up with no memories. He was essentially a new-born with basic knowledge of communication and motion.
with exception to a few people and zoras, everyone Link knew are long gone after 100 years.....and he'd have quite the steel heart for not crying after regaining all the memories. In reality (in the game that is) Link doens't show much emotion and 'does' have a heart of cold steel....but the dialogue may seem to suggest otherwise, i dunno if its translation into eng but some of the answers he gives may hold some bit of sarcasm

原曲の歌詞の感じからしてブレワイクリア後のリンクって感じがする。かつての仲間が亡くなってしまったことをすべて思い出したリンクの孤独さがより伝わってきた。

久しぶりに来たけど、色褪せない曲＋エモさ前回のMVが合わさってるこの動画やっぱ神だ
When you think about it, Link lives the toughest life out of everyone, even before the calamity. He was born fated to be a hero, and was blessed with unrivaled swordsmanship, but that means he will never face a true challenge until he defeats Ganon. He was forced to cast aside all emotion and wellbeing to toughen his heart in order to serve his duty. He grew up not knowing Love, only training for his final challenge. Then, he met people like him, the pilots of the Ancient Beasts, and he was able to sympathize with them. He found love and acceptance with them, along with freindship of which he was able to find in Zelda. He was finally able to open his heart. Then, Calamity happens, and when he next wakes up, all those friends are dead, except Zelda, who is trapped. Link has to come to terms with being alone again, along with knowing he failed his duty to protect Zelda. Breath of the Wild is less Link saving the princess, but Link completing his duty he was tasked with 100 years ago. It's a story on how Link has to redeem himself and avenge his friends that he lost by laying to rest this evil that has plagued the land. Well, that's just my take on it.

初めて神獣を解放した時も、リンクと同じように英傑が復活すると思ってた…
Imagine waking up to a voice you don't recognize, having no idea why you are in a strange chamber. You are told you are the only person who can save the world, and you were asleep for 100 years. You are told to pick up a small device. You must place it into a pedestal, afraid it will keep it, not letting you take it back. You exit the chamber, and see the light of day.
Then walk out onto the cliff overlooking all of Hyrule, all of the hurdles you must overcome

Coming back to this a few weeks away from Tears of the kingdom release. It's still just as amazing as when I first saw it.
I love how BOTW starts off with the usual quest of "It's your duty to save Zelda and the kingdom" like all other Zelda games. But then after you figure out who you are and gather your memories, you fall in love with your friends. And this becomes a much more personal quest for vengance. He goes from being the hero who saves Zelda and the kingdom, to a friend who saves the champions' purpose. Making sure their deaths were not in vain.

ティアキン発売おめでとうという事でまた見に来た
What made me so emotional about botw is that Link woke up alone, all of his loved ones were dead and everybody knew about the hero of Hyrule, yet nobody really knew the person behind it. He had to save a world with none of his friend on it, so he essentially had no purpose other than the pressure of people's expectations.
Now that I’m playing the game a second time, I’m realizing how depressing it is. Imagine you were Link. You wake up with no memory of anything, and you have to immediately go and complete a bunch of hard tasks with nothing to show for it. Everyone that you were close to has died, and the kingdom you once knew is completely in ruin. You’re traveling alone, with no one for you to talk to or comfort you. You have to carry a large burden and you can’t tell people how you really feel about them, because everyone just expects you to do everything without realizing that you’re a human too. Even if you meet people you like, or find a village you could live in, you can’t because you have to save everyone. It doesn’t even really matter if you stop Calamity Ganon, since he’s already destroyed everything and no one even cares or thanks you for saving them. Even if you do regain all your memories, you still know that Zelda never really was your close friend, and the game ends with the two of you just walking back to your horses, so you don’t know what’s happening next. This song perfectly shows how Link feels as he’s traveling, and it shows that being the hero of Hyrule isn’t as cool as it seems to be.
Edit: don’t forget that Link is only 17, and is pretty young to be doing all of this.

Being completely honest I would like to see a breath of the wild sequel where you spend time rebuilding Hyrule and getting closer to Zelda. Something causes the landscape to dramatically change and now you have to defend the world, not from ganon but some new threat.
Also I think this incarnation of link has it the worst. You can argue that the hero of time does but at the end of the day, his deeds are remembered in the adult timeline and he purposely chose not to make connections in the new child timeline so that was really his own fault. However in botw, link was just a happy kid. He was the son of some grand knight or something and forced into this duty with a princess who believes he has it easy when he has it just as bad if not worse then her. He purposely kills off his emotion and suffers in silence for the sake of the people despite that not being what he wants to do, and the princess steps on that resolve every day.
He fails to defend his kingdom, the citizens all die, his friends all die and he wakes up 100 years later with no memories while being forced to fight on his own. He slowly remembers his dead friends, his weapons all break easily unlike previous incarnations, he has to find and cook his own food and his master sword is capable of breaking as well. Even his trusty invincible shield can break.
If every incarnation before him had it set to normal mode, this incarnation has it set to "Link must suffer" mode.
My thoughts exactly ;_; this Link is my favorite I hope we get more of his story
I would LIVE for a sequel tbh, I haven't seen the full story of many Zelda games, but I know this one is one of my favorites, and a sequel would be a dream come true
It has never been so insanely easy to die in normal mode (not even hero/master mode!) in any Zelda game before Breath of the Wild.
