- Hey fam, tired of bug guts and rock chips? I'll be doing an unboxing and install video of the OEM Toyota Hood Deflector! This product is only sold by dealerships in Canada and I luckily live in Washington State which is on the Canadian border so I made a trip to visit some friends while picking up this product. Enjoy!

I have an OEM one for my 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe that I got from Canada, as well, But I got them to reduce the shipping cost to $20, instead of the initial $60 they were going to charge for it.... But it has the exact same kinds of parts, but with four more of those pedestals that needs to be put on... was trying to figure it out since the instructions were a bit confusing. Then I came across your video. This helped tremendously. Thanks!
Good video and no annoying music in the background. I had to laugh at the Canadian units. It's actually metric units or as we call it for our American friend, "the rest of the world units".
Got one one my 2021 RAV4 XSE, works perfectly.
I installed this on my Bronze edition last March. It came out great! I remember I had asked if you were going to put one on as well, and here it is! good job.
Thanks, OEM was the only one I wanted and I wasn't going to pay the ridiculous shipping costs from Canada! Finally jumped at the opportunity to pick it up once the US/Canadian border reopened and it was worth the wait.
Thank for your help, bought one and looking to put one on 👍
Thanks so much for your excellent video. It really helped my husband install our deflector on our 2022 RAV4.
You should do a power folding mirror installation tutorial.
That's what I'm waiting for.
I plan to, the mirrors are sitting in the garage! lol
@@vietbubbletea Great, looking forward to it my man!
The new 2023 Highlander Limited and Platinum editions have power folding mirrors. Maybe oem parts can be retrofitted to 2020-2022 trims.
I've been debating about sourcing OEM parts since the auto folding mirrors have been available in European markets for a few years now but it'll be pricey. I'm sure the US version would be similar, we'll see!
Nice, been waiting for this review.
Looks good! Wanted one for our Rav4 2022. But thinking it will be harder to clean/detail the area under it.
I initially had the same concerns but found that since th deflector sits elevated on the hood that a pressure wand could blast out any debris and clean with a microfiber towel underneath with no issues.
Whoaaa, I want hood struts
Look great. Just not sure about the gap in the front where can see the hood
You did a good job
Exactly the same thing - they discontinued the hood deflector for Toyota 4Runner in the US while they are still selling it in Canada, only it's under a different part number. I don't understand Toyota about this at all. And the OEM part fits better or personally I like more how the OEM deflector attaches to the hood than the bulky 3rd party/aftermarket no matter is Weathertech, AVS or whatever. Especially I don't like that the aftermarket or 3rd party deflectors go under the hood, over the hood edge, I don't like that.
I completely agree!
You have a lot of patience.
Nice 💯 Brother good DYI video I wish they sell that in the state's
Rip bugs lol 😆
Great job 👏
I just got the weather tech deflector for our 2022 Rav4. Haven’t installed it yet but it looks like it might be flush like yours. No mounting brackets though just adhesive tape already attached. Came with alcohol wipes, prep wipes.
I think the gap underneath is required for rain water to drain. Otherwise you’ll have a reservoir when it rains or after a car wash
I agree as I've never had debris or pine needles get stuck underneath which includes water pools. It's been a great purchase!
Thank you so much for this video. When I bought the kit from Toyota, it didn’t come with instructions. Your video really helped me a lot.
Not sure if I would want all that tape and bump stops mounted to the hood giving dirt and salt a place to collect. A clear bra attached to the front may be another option to protect from rock chips but it won't redirect wind over windshield.
Excellent video gentlemen! Have you run you vehicle through a car wash yet? any issues with the car wash blowers lifting the deflector or rattling it loose?
I hand wash my car so not sure how the deflector would handle the rotating brush/mop or blowers from a car wash. I would imagine that it would hold up well as long as the rotation is into the hood and not away. I've also driven in high wind at freeway speeds and have not seen or heard any rattling. Most car wash blowers face the front of the car which helps plus the screws do a pretty good job securing the deflector to the hood and the rubber mounts also help to damper and reduce flex from my observations. Thanks for the engagement!
may be you can tell me how to install a ketchup on the muffler?
@@andreoshea8577 ketchup???
What's the update; do you still have it on the hood? Also, how does it fair with wind noise?
Still installed and never had an issue with wind noise
@vietbubbletea Sounds good. Thinking about getting one myself.
hi i enjoy all your and learm from all your videos you explain all in details .i am trying to find that exact model but i live here on the north east in Rhode Island did you buy from a toyota dealer in canada or a website? what was the total price? thank you
Thanks, I live in Washington State so I drove across the border and purchased the hood deflector from a Canadian Toyota dealership for $130 USD. You can buy it online but the shipping is expensive.
@@vietbubbletea thank you for quick reply .i tried with the part no. on your video but no success lol thank you
@cvaz8330 Try this link, toyotacustoms.com/products/hood-deflector-2
Nice video! Do you have a link to the installation manual ? Thanks
Sure do! Link is also in the video description. drive.google.com/file/d/1GEq6XLGnPtJVkKiA8uKoiQ0n0hydUQZD/view
The WeatherTech version is even more superior, don’t even use metal brackets
I've seen pics of the Weathertech product from another member and learned that it directly adheres to the hood compared to how the OEM product is raised off the hood and creates two airflow channels above and below the hood deflector which I prefer. How has your Weathertech hood deflector experience been on your Highlander?
@@vietbubbletea you are looking at their older product, they came up with a direct competitor to this and there’s no metal bracket at all, a one piece molded item, very neat
@@ejshelby5460 Thats cool, too bad they don't provide the actual product pictures on their website. I'd be interested to check it out. Thanks for the heads up.
Will there be any metal to paint contact? That rectangular clear film is large enough?
The supplied clear 3M tape I applied at the 4:14 mark covers the area well and prevents any metal from touching the paint as I initially had similar concerns.
Where exactly in Toyota Canada dealership?
OpenRoad Toyota in Richmond, BC. Call in advance to confirm they have it in stock or have them order it.
Where did you purchase that one at? The only one that is OEM that I seen online was in Canada at a Toyota dealership. They were charging 93$ for shipping and I know I don't want to pay that much for shipping hahaha
It's only sold by Canadian Toyota dealerships. Since I live in Seattle near the border, I just picked it up and brang it back. Shipping unfortunately is a lot if you buy it online.
Would metal brackets or any part of the deflector damage/crack the paint on the hood over time?
I want to order one from Toyota Canada and am willing to pay the ridiculous shipping cost because it is not available in USA somehow.
The mounting points using the metal brackets used on the 4th generation are very similar to the 3rd generation Highlander and I haven't heard many issues with paint damage. I initially had those same concerns but after installing the OEM set, no metal brackets come into contact with the painted surface so I don't see that being an issue.
Hi , where can buy this for my 2023 Toyota highlander hybrid limited please?
This OEM hood deflector is only sold by Canadian Toyota dealerships, they do sell it online but shipping is expensive.
toyotacustoms.com/products/hood-deflector-2
Wtx I looked for one but didn't find any in 2020
4th generation model between 2020-2023 is all the same
Where did you get the installation instructions? I just bought an OEM deflector for my Tundra and it came with no instructions. Frustrating
I had a TIS subscription and downloaded it but you can check the ToyotaNation Forums to see if someone posted the Tundra instructions that you can download.
Does it make any noise when driving and do you see any change in gas mileage?
No wind noise even above 70mph and no noticeable changes to mileage, I'm still averaging 32mpg with my hybrid after installation.
It looks like it is working for you. I have not had any long distance trip with my 22 HL gas model yet. I got it a few weeks ago and love it. I emailed Toyota Canada to check if they ship to USA.
@@davidcho9119 I believe the Edmonton Toyota dealership is charging $98 for flat shipping to the US.
Where did you buy it
Drove up to Canada
I need the address for order hood deflector
It's only sold at Canadian Toyota dealerships but you can buy it online by searching the part number I referenced in the video but shipping costs will be high depending where you live.
What’s the part number?
PK17548L00
Really seems a little complicated.
Link for part?
You can only buy it from Canadian Toyota dealerships, heres an online link but shipping is expensive if you don't live in Canada. toyotacustoms.com/products/hood-deflector-2
@@vietbubbletea thanks
I like it without it 🤷♂️😓
It's all good, different strokes for different folks.
@@vietbubbletea 😣 sorry
😒😒Dirt will get stuck, i rather have Le Bra Msk....
Debris underneath is a non-issue, I've already cleaned away dirt and pine needles with ease using a spray wand as the elevated space allows water and crap to flow out.
