  • Sno-Zilla's first trial run since finishing fabrication. She handled it like a champ. The belt tensioner needed tweaking, it's all fixed now and she's a BEAST!

    Looks like you snapped a shear pin on the inboard side of the smaller thrower unit. Great build. Better to shear a pin than to bend something

    Great build, but I think if you used a bigger engine, like a V-twin of some kind, you would have much better throwing results.

  • @jeicher1701
    @jeicher1701 Před 7 měsíci +1

    This is a super good idea. I really like it.
    However, I can tell that your snowblower is greatly underpowered, so I say this urgently, gear down the snow blower unit itself.
    What do I mean?
    I don't know how the drive system is arranged on your unit, but this is exactly what it needs.
    Either put larger pulleys on the impellers (the fans that throw the snow thru the chute) or put a smaller pulley on the engine. Most likely, each impeller can use a pulley twice as large than what they have. I had this problem with a unit that I modified.
    It greatly lacked power because the fan was geared up too fast.
    I promise, when you gear down the impellers, you will gain more power.
    I like your unit.

      Thanks for the insight! I later realized that I had the belt tensioner on the wrong side of the pulley. Once I moved the tensioner to the non-load side, it throws as much snow as I can give it! In part 2 it easily handled 17" of snow!

    Cool design, looks nasty! Does your skid steer have a high flow/high pressure hydraulic pump? If it does, you may want to do some calculations to see if you can get more HP by using a hydraulic motor to power the blower as the gas engine looks a little under powered for the wide clearing width.

    Nice but underpowered if you get any real snow where you’re at. If cost is a factor engine wise maybe install a small 4cyl car engine. You could use heat exchanger tubes above the augers for cooling and keep all the fuel injection and use a PID controller and actuator for a governor.

    • @dangert416
      @dangert416  Před 4 lety

      @@MrBucknasty1313 I fixed the belt issue, I had the spring tensioner on the drive side of the pulley instead of the slack side. Now it cuts through ice snowbanks with no issues! I'm waiting for a big enough snowstorm to post an updated video. It's maybe a little too heavy for a smaller quad, I can barely lift it off the ground without help.

    • @MrBucknasty1313
