Pokemon's newest set - Paldea Evolved officially releases on June 9th and the 2nd set in the Scarlet & Violet Generation features some absolutely stunning Pokemon Cards. Historically, the second set released in a generation sells a bit slower than other sets, however, demand is still expected to be high for Paldea Evolved.
Pokemon Pull Rates made a lot of buzz with the release of Scarlet & Violet with most booster boxes bringing in between 11-13 hits on average! However, other products such as single booster packs, elite trainer boxes, booster bundles, and even 3 pack blisters were highly frowned upon due to lower pull rates than anticipated. Do these "ancillary" products contain worse pull rates? Let's take a look!

They're not seeded. The packs are loaded a certain way with a certain percentage rate. So for example, maybe it's every 4th pack off the line has a double rare, and every 5th pack has something higher. If you buy a booster box, you're getting 36 consecutive packs, meaning you're getting every 4th and 5th pack for every 5 packs in a row. If you buy singles, you could end up selecting the 1st, 2nd and 3rd packs that don't contain any hit cards. When you buy a build & battle, you're at least getting 4 consecutive packs, meaning at minimum you're getting at least the 4th or 5th pack off the line, and occasionally both.

I usually open sleeved boosters, so I can just open a few packs here and there for around $15-$20 a pop… opening a whole booster box, at $100+ and not getting any cards I’m excited about is hard to stomach sometimes. It’s all a gamble opening, but I don’t open a high volume of packs, because it’s just too expensive for me personally… hard to just open a few packs from a booster box at a time, when curiosity for what’s in the booster box as a whole is too strong! Lol
With these booster boxes having this many hits. It reminds me of some of the olders OG sets that had 11-13 guaranteed holos in them. I'm glad things are like that. Makes getting master sets more attainable, keeps the hobby more affordable for more people to enjoy, and makes you feel like you actually got something for the money you paid
I’d say booster boxes are slightly low on hits especially compared to older sets. Now sets have soooo many ultra dares and secrets as well as art rares which should be counted as bonus hits not main hits
Says the person that likely hasn't opened this set lmao print quality is terrible. The diluted sets are just meant to make more sales meanwhile there's only a few inspired cards. The others are recycled arts and terrible Pokémon concepts. Get real
I totally agree with the booster box pull rates. I opened up the Scarlet and Violet Base set and got more hits then the Koraidon and Miraidon ETBs as well as the Booster bundles combined!! 🎉💯

I've had good luck in the past with ETBs. It would have been interesting to see 4 ETBs for 36 packs as well.

I believe booster box does have the best pull rates in terms of products but it is a cost locked in as compared to buying single packs/slevees/bundles...as usual, great video!

I have to agree that the booster boxes seem to be seeded. I opened 2 boxes recently and I got just about 12-13 hits with the big hitters being an SIR, 1 gold and 3 IRs. Along with a couple FAs and regular EX rares. My chase card is that Meowscarada SIR so I'm definitely putting my money towards booster boxes, even though I'm more of a sleeved booster guy. And I've only ever opened 3 booster boxes, the first being Evolving Skies....back when it didn't cost an arm and a leg.😆

Really excited for this set, just so many cards to pull! Here where I live in Canada, a booster box for Paldea Evolved is $160CAN and booster bundles are $30, which means one booster box is $20 cheaper than six booster bundles, which would be $180, hence why I'm going for booster boxes. Back when SV base set first released I did get some booster bundles and they were hit or misses. Some I got at least 2-3 hits (even 4 if I'm lucky) per box but I also got a bundle that only had 1 hit. While I do like getting bundles every so often (so that I'm not spending over $100 everytime I want to buy cards lol), at least with booster boxes and the "confirmed" amount of pulls you get, at least I know I'll get a pull every 3-4 booster packs, with the addition that a booster box is cheaper
Also in regards to the silver borders, ever since SV I'm already in love with them than the yellow ones. IN MY OPINION, because the borders are a bright yellow, they're too obvious to the eye and they're a very bland border that makes cards like trainer gallerys "look" cheap. The silver ones are at least a more dull grey (with a bit of a gradient, which I do also like) so your eyes are more drawn to the art of the card, and the grey just makes a nice, clean frame around them without looking too distracting. I've always liked how Japanese cards looked so I'm glad the English cards are also going that direction

Booster boxes should in theory give you more pulls than other products. But I might have to go with the booster bundles on this one

Bought ONE Paldea Evolved booster bundle the other day. First Paldea Evolved product I bought, and pulled an Iono special illustration rare card. Blew me away.
I opened 11 Scarlet and Violet booster boxes. Yeah, they are most definitely seeded in some way. There is just too much consistency in them.
I live 20 min away from Anaheim but I didn't go. I just thought the admission price was a bit expensive.

I guess the silver borders isn't as big a deal for me as I started collecting 2.5 yrs ago. I collect some Japanese too so it's cool. Excited to open more Paldea Evolved when I get my ETB and booster box tomorrow
Totally agree on the booster boxes giving the best (consistent) pull rates. I think it's because the full box gives you 36 booster packs in a row that were filled on the line, which gives the consistent drop rate over 36 packs. So lets say ever 3rd pack off the line contains a double rare, and every 4th pack contains something higher. You're going to get all those 3rd and 4th packs over the span of 36. When you open individual packs, you can actually pick all 1st, 2nd, 3rd packs off the line, and just holo-rare out. Same with the Build and Battles, but a little more consistent b/c you're getting 4 packs in a row off the line, giving you at least 1 good pull consistently, and occasionally 2.
Scratch off lottery tickets work the exact same way. If you buy one at a time when you go to the gas station, you're odds of winning decreases compared to buying 20 at once, because the 20 in a row means you're going to get a few of the hits in between the losing tickets.

I usually go with 1 to 2 ETBs, even though they lag behind in cost per pack. So far I've had good experiences with them, although of course it's more of a gamble. For example, I only had one hit in my Violet ETB , but that was Miriam SIR 🎉 but for Pokémon 151 I will sure buy a Booster Box..or two😅
I heard the pull rates from the Zenith Elite box are where it's at right now.
But, I just ordered my Paldea Evolved Elite Trainer Box last week, and it should be here today.

Since opening packs is the closest you can get to actual gambling, I open my packs like I buy lottery tickets - a couple sleeved boosters at a time hoping for a big hit.

Booster boxes are the way to go for SV. This set seems to have lots of dead spots in boxes so that translates to other products having nothing I suppose
So want one of these booster boxes, it would nice to get one and enjoy opening the packs and possibly getting those cool alt art cards

I can't complain. I ripped 2 Booster boxes and got 13 and 11 hits. I actually pulled the IONO along with alot of nice cards. I would love to pull Magikarp but I can always buy it.
Booster Boxes I'm pretty sure have a set amount put in(they know what rarity cards they're putting in). I know the Lego Minifigure collections(when you buy a whole box) will have at least one of each Minifigure. It's a different way of doing it but the company knows what is in the "mystery" packs.

Edit: Wow. That was surprisingly level across the board. Ya, I believe there really is no rhyme or reason when it comes to pulling hits. All luck based. The BBs do seem very consistent with the number of hits as well as the types of hits this generation. Very interesting.
Paused - Booster boxes ARE seeded, imho. However, for your experiment, you could hit at a higher rate from the bundles or hangers just out of luck of the draw
After - Well, I think he's right. If you want the guarantee, go booster box. If you want to roll the dice, go sleeved boosters

I had the best luck with Booster Boxes for this set. All the sleeved boosters were duds. The sealed blisters w/ promo were awful too.
i think its the single cardboard packs, a full box of those for display you'll get more hits off 36 of those than you will a booster, ive tried it a few times. The cardboards won all 3 times

I did a booster box opening along side with you, and basically the same results! 4 double rares, 3 ultra rares, 3 illustration rares, 1 special illustration rare, and 1 hyper rare!

I think the same as you. I get nothing out of sleeved. Very few out of booster bundles but booster boxes I always luck out. Safer in the long run to splurge for the booster box. 105 for guaranteed or one crappy ETB and then back in to make up for it. I end up spending more out of frustration when I pick other products.
I always prefer opening a Booster Boxes to complete my binder
I have only opened 10 to 12 booster boxes in the last year.
1. I have never pulled an alt art from a booster box.
2. My higher rarity/value cards never came from a booster box.
3. I opened 1 BS booster box with all black code cards, and no hits to speak of. (All hollow rares, 1 whimsicott v, one TG)
I have my best luck with collection boxes for some reason.

I find the small tins pull the best cards .
Iv gotten rainbow , gold & ultra rares from them every 2 to 3 tins 😂 from diffrent shops or even sold by amazon

Silver borders make the actual hit standout less. These cards are going to crash majorly cuz there's so much pop. By vintage
Booster boxes have been 11-14 hits (avg) with 3 full arts or better since astral radiance for me. Which is nice to know you will get hits but single sleeves IMO are more random and you have chances at more than just 3 "big" hits in 36 packs. But you could hardly get anything also.
This new era definitely has to be BB for master sets, and singles for competitive play!
They say sleeved booster has generally better card condition due to the extra protection from the cardboard. Maybe can do a video to compare the card condition from regular packs VS sleeved packs?

Great video! Pretty much what I expected in terms of overall pull rates, with a small enough sample size that rareties will be random. The booster bundles seem particularly random, though I guess it makes sense if you look at them as a booster box split up 6 ways... with hot and cold sections. The two S&V base set booster bundles we brougt had 3 total hits out of only two packs. The one with the single hit was the Miraidon ex special illustration rare, so you never know. Btw, did Danny do the third (big) Phanny Pack drop? If so, I missed it after striking out the first two times.
sure the pack density might be the same, but a box costs WAY less. you're looking at 100 vs 180, no contest.
Haven’t had much luck with the ancillary products from S&V and Paldea Evolved so far. Guess I should’ve just gotten booster boxes for more consistent pulls.

Pulled the Iono (special Illustration rare) from a Checklane! So. . . Single pack checklanes are the best LOL... I did get approx 4 hits from an ETB and 12 hits from Booster box. . . 3 hits from 2 Booster Bundles (12 packs) . . . so booster bundles were the worst. . . in my experience.

On release day I bought one of each product. Streamed it on my channel. And both Tins, both triple blisters, and booster bundles, didn’t get anything! Then did the booster box and it killed it!!! Night and day difference!

While I recommend booster boxes for anyone who wants a better chance of pulling hype cards, bundles of ten sleeved boosters from Pokémon have netted me several of my chase cards, including the Sylveon VMAX alt art from one of the last Evolving Skies restocks. I pulled A LOT of my hits from Battle Styles that way.

In 2 minds about seeded boxes. It's good to know you can't get a bad box, but also takes the thrill of the risk out of it. You feel like you've earned the pulls more when you know it's not seeded.

I think most consistent would be booster boxes but all my major hits have come from sleeved.
Honestly I think the best pull rates are from Booster boxes and specifically the initial run. I feel like picking up a booster later or other products after the first 2 weeks have way less pulls.
I tend to buy clearance Pokemon items to save the most money. Either that or just a pack every now and then
i start the set with an ETB so i have the booklet with the master set, then i order the 3 pack blisters 1 of each, and then 1 booster box and for the rest random individual cards and one or 2 sleeved packs when i go to the store
I got 2 double rare, an ultra rare, special illustration rare and a hyper rare out of an etb. Pull rates are crazy

I've opened 12 packs of paldea so far and I gained 2 regular EX and one tinkaton EX two gold star card. Last item I'm going to get is the etb and I will have to stop for a while.

My buddy just opened a booster box of Paldea Evolved today and only got 9 hits, no SIRs. I opened up two booster boxes of Scarlet and Violet and only had 10 hits in each, no SIRs. I don’t personally believe anything is seeded.
I pulled all my big hits from sleeved boosters including the Moonbreon and the Charizard V alt art

We opened 1 scarlet & violet base booster box and we got 14 hits including a gold miraidon, special illustration koraidon & the silver Gyarados. No doubles either was a crazy box
My experience so far with Paldea Evolved, I have opened two ETBs (non Pokémon center) and 5 booster boxes. One ETB had no hits at all. I was shocked. Not an EX or even a illustration rare was so bummed. The second I pulled a Gold Card Ting Lu, Full Art squawkabilly, an Ex card and a illustration rare. Out of the booster boxes. All provided 3 illustration rates, 1 to 2 full arts (Pokémon or Trainer), 4 to 5 EXs including the Tera forms, 1 SIR, and 1 Gold. Out of the 5 booster boxes one provided 2 SIRs (Meowscarada and Quaquaval) and no gold card. One booster box provided a gold energy card 😒 and no SIR (that box was the worst so far). None of the IRs were the darn Ttar I want 😆.
I would ALWAYS choose a booster box over 36 loose packs. Although my wife did pull the Sylveon Vmax alt art out of ten sleeved packs of Evolving Skies. As ALWAYS, THANKS for the video Danny🐐!!! 😎👍✌️
My chase card was the illustration rare Fuecoco. Happy to report that I pulled him, and in a shocking turn events I pulled the special illustration rare Iono before the fuecoco
